I feel like Dana is using Ben Askren as an overvalued pawn to sink rival promotions. Someone else will pay him, and he can't draw a dime.

It's painfully obvious that it's not about this "he needs more experience" narrative that Dana is pushing, especially when you look at some of the "prospects" being signed by the UFC as we speak.

Kind of glad I didn't get tickets. A few good fights (or at least fighters), but...Matt Brown, Nik Lentz, Cody McKenzie? I'd rather watch tag team MMA at the Indian casino.

Ian McCall was expected to face Scott Jorgensen at the event. However, McCall was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by John Dodson.[7]

Jamie Varner was expected to face Pat Healy at this event. However, Varner pulled out of the bout due to injury and was replaced by Bobby Green[8]

Kelvin Gastelum was expected to face Court McGee at this event. However, Gastelum pulled out of the bout, citing an undisclosed injury and was replaced by Ryan LaFlare.[9]

John Moraga was expected to face Darren Uyenoyama at the event. However, Moraga pulled out of the bout with an undisclosed injury and was replaced by promotional newcomer Alptekin Ozkilic.[10]

Hey now. Matt Brown is on like a 7 fight winning streak. And at least one of those guys even fought in the UFC after losing to Brown!

lol Matt Brown is Dan Hardy with chest hair. A ham 'n' egger on a streak who will eventually slip into midcard obscurity. At least he finishes fights, I'll give him that.

Khalib Starnes is on the WSOF card? I feel like his presence means you've got that event listed way too low there. He needs top billing. Even if it's a chronological list. His greatness transcends time.

There's a lot of truth to your words, friend. dream was lucky enough to watch him fight at heavyweight this year. Looks like this one's at 205.

Condit recycling Brown and Urijah v Michael McDonald are the only two legit watchable fights on the card. Everything else is crap.

So Pettis is going to be out for 6-8 months apparently. And I figure that doesn't include the 3 months camp for his next fight and obligatory 2 month extension because he gets a hangnail.

I hope and pray for the sake of the division that they upgrade Bendo vs. Thompson to an Interim Championship match. And none of this Condit bullshit either, put the winner straight into the mix with TJ Grant if he can recover from his ongoing concussion issues, or one of the other 5 dudes with the potential to be champion. The 155 train shouldn't stop moving just because Pettis is made out of wet tissue paper.

Speaking of stables, check out the J.O.B. Squad.

Seems more like 'The Radicalz'

as skilled as they are; none of them are draws, all came from a rival org, etc

Benoit - Anderson
Eddie - Machida
Malenko - Big Nog
Saturn - Shogun

Terri Runnels (when she started managing them) - Wand

There's nothing in this post that I could possibly disagree with. Everyone could have and did predict that Pettis would get injured before defending his belt and it will probably be a year or so between fights for him.

The lightweight division is stacked and should stop for no one.

If they're not going to get rid of the belts, any time a champ gets injured for that long, they should just strip them of the belt. The rankings mean nothing, but the belt is still a symbol that average joe can understand. If champ gets injured, there shouldn't be anything to stop the next people in line to fight for a title. Champ returns and gets an automatic fight with current title holder. Done.

Going to Dubai, Karachi, and Istanbul in January...

Nice. Been to Dubai and Istanbul and both were a blast. Ill give the edge to Istanbul because its much more cultured and the city is very walk able, unlike Dubai where you will spend much of your time in over sized malls. I never got the feeling that I was out of the US when I was there, but it was still a great time.

It's crazy that Dominick Cruz is still listed as the champion in the belt reunification with Barão. Barão has fought five times since Cruz last fought, won the belt in an interim championship and has defended it twice. Nevermind how they pick challengers, that right there shows how much belts mean to the UFC in the grand scheme of things.

If there was any interest in the division then they would have stripped him of the title.

Dominic Cruz' last fight was two years ago, but feels like an eon has passed. Let's see:

1) It pre-dated the Fox deal (was the last show on Versus, iirc)
2) It was against Demmy Johnson who has since fought five times: two Semi Finals, one championship match and two title defences
3) It had TJ Grant's first fight at lightweight - since fought four times.
4) Rumble Johnson fought at welterweight on the same card (for the last time) and has since fought six times.

I believe in this case MMA math is almost kind to Dancing Dom, he got clocked twice by Faber's OK standup...someone with real power like Cruz or McDonald will make short work of him. That stupid style of his only works against other wrestlers turned limited strikers, which is all he's faced.

I heard the same about Dubai. Heard the only women there are prostitutes lol.
