Monitoring the situation in Iran

I expect some troops on the ground, but not the standard ground invasion - the logistics are not there and there are no indication of that. I do expect though some special forces operations in specific spots and areas (secure specific locations like the Kharg Island, oil fields and the Strait of Hormuz). It remains to be seen after the current second phase that has just started. Israel and USA bombed a lot of military installations and now they are bombing energy infrastructure. At one point I expect Trump and co. to call people to rise up if they want to bring a change. If iranians will decide at that time not to do that, it will be on them though as I would not be surprised if balochs, kurds, azeri will start doing something. Maybe even afghani and others. With kurds, turks might be involved too turning it into a regional conflct on a wider scale.
Yeah, I think this is the plan, too.

These have historical significance.

What about this

He has two bronze stars. Keep going though, keep trying to mitigate his military career.

🤡
What? 90% of the success of any military is bureaucracy and it seems he did a great at it (although not with neccesarily great eventual outcomes). You were the one demeaning bureaucrats like him.

Scenario 1: Quietly supporting and funding a secular, pro-democracy uprising in Iran that can undermine the theocracy's political and economic power over time and eventually replace it?

Come on man. The people of Iran already wanted this regime out and got shot for even suggesting it.

Quietly support an uprising over time...this isn't a place where everyone is allowed to think what they want, allowing you to BS under the radar like Russia loves to do in democratic places.

Fair enough. It's when there's no accountability and the erosion of effectiveness is where it becomes an issue. And has been for some time.

I personally don't think he is like the typical ones of the recent past, but time will tell.

Is there someone who is militarily competent

AND

Does not break the UCMJ on a regular basis, sending a signal to the world that these are the standards of the greatest country you are expected to live up to

Because that'd be great
