Watched Her again last night, great movie. I don't understand how Joaquin Phoenix didn't get a nom for best actor.

Watched Toy story of terror for the first time plus the other shorts all packed in one nice bluray package. Really loved what I saw although I can't pick a favorite between the shorts because of them all being unique and creative in their own way, all it ensured to me was that I needed more TOY STOOORRRYYY!

Re-watched this movie on blu for the first time.

I enjoyed the movie just as much as I watched it again years ago. It's always difficult to explain what this movie is about because it is about nothing yet it is about something. What I love most about the movie is how weird and unique each character is. The laughs for me always comes from how each characters reacts with a certain situation or when they come on screen.

I can't help but laugh whenever Pedro or Napoleon come on screen for some reason, maybe it's because they got this lost from this world, dead look about everything. Pedro's skit scene is always something to behold although I found it way better when you watch the movie for the first time because what happens comes out of no where and always manages to put a smile on my face. It's quirky, funny, really weird and defiantly memorable. A cult classic.

I recommend the movie for the people who want to meet weird characters and their day to day interaction at the high school. It also brings me fond highschool memories, for me atleast. It also looks damn good on bluray.

Following my post from above:

World's Greatest Dad (2009):
Bad. Just bad. In every way imaginable bad. Stay away.

not as essential as comedies and proverbs or six moral tales. but at the very least the middle two are very good/great films.

Thanks a bunch, worth a watch I guess then, especially since I love anything that is even in the ball park of new-wave

Perhaps it was easier to understand how Michael Dudikoff became a kind of star as a result of American Ninja back in the 80s than it is now. His entire "Peter Weller by way of Ryan Gosling" schtick was likely to be a bit more novel then than it is now, but I can't imagine that audiences back then didn't find him just as stiff and unconvincing an action hero then as I did this evening. He's the kind of actor that whispers all of his dialogue, confusing terminal shyness for stoicism, while bearing a squint so severe that he may be trying to crush his own eyes. So, why did this film bear four sequels, most of them starring him? From this film, it's tough to say what element people latched onto, outside of the obvious ironic appeal of a film entitled American Ninja. It's the kind of film that takes itself a little too seriously, despite having a training camp full of ninjas, the Frenchest goddamned South American gun smuggler as our principal villain, flanked by a master evil ninja named Black Star Ninja (because he has a black star on his face, duh), as well as a final duel that can be best described as a low rent version of the Eliminator from American Gladiators, where Black Star Ninja manages to assault our hero with a thrown climbing claw, a fireball, a four-shot pistol gauntlet thingy, and then a laser beam. And yet, it's just never funny enough to be aware of how silly the whole thing is, so there's never any doubt that someone would be laughing at the film, rather than with it. There is some charming ineptitude to the whole film, and for its efforts, it does boast some decent stuntwork, but it never really crosses my mind how this could have enjoyed the legacy it's kind of received. It's a watchable film, which is a surprisingly high bar for a lot of the knock-off action films of the 80s, but in an era dominated by the likes of Stallone, Lundgren, and our patron saint Schwarzenegger, it's simply not enough.

The Raid 2- A lot more plot heavy than the first but I enjoyed it. Some of the choreography was more repetitive in this sequel but the highs are really high and some of the shots were impressive. I had a lot of "oh shit" moments while watching.

4/5

Under The Skin- Really artsy and full of nuance. Movie kind of drops things as it goes, really good looking movie though. West Scotland in particular looks gorgeous.

3.5/5

GBU is indeed tops. I would put The man who killed Liberty Valance and High Noon as my personal picks for best westerns ever, tho

Guardians of The Galaxy

I remember hearing about its development back as a freshman in college thinking it would turn out bad. Glad I was wrong, such a fun film.

JUNO

I love Ellen Page.

The Lady in Number 6 is super dry. She started talking about how she was Kafka's chess buddy or something and I just went ahead and clicked back to browsing. Sounds like she lived a full life though.. crazy what she went through.

I'm saddened that Once Upon a Time in the West hasn't been mentioned.

" You brought two too many "

Once Upon a Time in the West is a masterpiece as far as i'm concerned, Just the soundtrack alone is worth for watching the film.

The Sabata Trilogy, Outlaw josey wales, 3:10 to Yuma, High Plains Drifter, Fistful of dollars, For a few dollars more, Sepharim Falls, El Topo, Two Mules For Sister Sarah, Westworld, Pale Rider, Silverado, Hang'em high, Hatfields & Mccoys, City slickers, The quick and the dead, Buch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Blackthorn, Young Guns, Tombstone, Four Eyes and Six Guns, The Proposition, Django, Django Unchained, Maverick, There will be blood, The Missing, True Grit, My name is Trinity, Trinity is still my name and pretty much other Terence Hill + Bud spencer western movies are also all great.

I find it weird that the last movies of Sergio Leone get mentioned the least. For me, My favorite movie of all time is Once Upon A Time In America. It makes me recall my life and be nostalgic about my past in a way no other movie ever did. It has a mesmerizing soundtrack as well. Also, I'm talking about the superior in every way 4 hour or so version of the movie.

Sergio Leone would have easily gotten oscars for the movie if it wasn't butchered to hell, what a shame.

How crazy is it that I'm not a big fan of The Wild Bunch? Like, it's okay, but the editing of the shootouts does not work for me.

I didn't like it too much the first time I saw it, but what really grabbed me on rewatch was the dynamic and dysfunctional family relationship between the guys, not so much the shootouts.

Caught the first 20 minutes of Bunraku this morning before work. Very interesting, very stylized. Reminded me of Sin City and Kung Fu Hustle a little bit, that graphic novel feel. I'll have to finish watching it tonight.

Godzilla - Aaron Taylor Johnson is... I don't know, he's there, I guess. I did enjoy the movie though. I hope the sequel will be done ala Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, with new leads.

Magic Mike - Watched it for McConaughey. Enjoyed it because of the cast.

I'm sorry :(

Don't get me wrong, I like the ensemble, but there are a hell of a lot of shootouts.

Guys pls stop pressuring me.

Uh....UH...UMMM

THE WILD BUNCH: 10/10

the first 4 hours of wild bunch is a mess especially compared to his great works, the gunfight is just a gunfight really. needs more bunuel shots of snakes eating rats

THE WILD BUNCH: 10/10

ah yes, the peer pressure magic still works. It wanes in power the more Criterions you buy and more esoteric your taste become.

Stupid peer pressure ratings. i gotta make up for that by defending my stance on a widely disliked movie..........

Mission Impossible 2 is the best MI movie of all time. ALL TIME.

Filth was mean, dark, cynical and gonzo as hell and pushed the limits of sympathy for a really despicable lead character. I enjoyed it though.

Once upon a time in the west is the goat morricone movie

And mi2 is the only decent mission impossible sequel. What a waste series, why are there 5 of these?

The searchers, liberty balance, good the bad and ugly and unforgiven are on my list for best westerns after the GOAT
