My first 'next gen' war, as an 'informed' gamer.

So, this E3 will mark my official first new console war. I was about ...11 when i got my launch ps2. At this time, i really couldn't appreciate what this new hardware was going to bring me. All i know is that my first year, i played the shat out of shadow of destiny, mgs2 demo, ZOE, tekken tag, ridge racer V, and gt3. I don't remember being "teh future am here" or anything, i just went along my business like it wasnt no thing. How foolish. The only thing that really stood out were these wierd cds that played movies. :lol
Im quite excited about this 'war', and i plan to fight strong along side Sony.

It's the same here too. I can imagine the stories I'll tell the grand kids

PS2 when you were eleven? Sheesh. When I was eleven, the game console industry was in the middle of the 'crash' ('84). It certainly was great to pick up lots of discounted/clearance games at the local Grand Central, though...saved lots of cashola for Garbage Pail Kids sets, new Transformers, and arcade games at the 7-Elevens and Circle Ks.

...and i plan to fight strong along side Sony.

This entire thread makes me feel ancient and weep for humanity at the same time. Your first console was a PS2??? Such sacrilege.
 
I was 13 when the last systems came out. It was so exciting, I felt the same way about the 32 bit era that you feel about this gen, and actually seeing the transistion of graphics and hardware was so amazing. I was starting to get all excited in the new games and hardware. And for about 3 years, I couldn't stop talking about games and keeping up with the news.

Now, I guess I just burnt out on gaming in general; I still read about new games, but I just don't care like I used to. All I can do is ask myself, "Did I really spend all that money on VIDEOGAMES?"

No, my first brand new, sealed, console was n64. i had pretty much owned my friends SNES prior, and played a lot of Saturn and some Sega CD. Sold the 64 2 years later and got a psx.
Funny story, actually. The kid's mom went to get him a console and the guy at Target recommended the Sega CD. :lol The kid was pissed.

I think its time for us all to draw the line in the sand and join a side. It wont be pretty and it wont be nice but a war's a comin.

I can enjoy all consoles, i just prefer one over the other.

lol i know what you mean... i remember playing combat on the 2600 with my brothers for hours on end.
 
so you're like 15 now? damn, you'll still be fighting in the next next gen then. and when you're 25 you'll realize what a big waste of time all that was. but yeah, about 10 more years of fanboyism to go then. good luck.

But, but being a crazy SEGA Fanatic was fun during those years though. I wouldn't have traded in my teenage fanboyism. :lol Good Times. :)

I think it was a joke that fanboys, even though they all might be the same will argue that theirs is better because x reason.
 
I still say the GameCube was the best system ever when it came to console wars...

I mean, the handles meant you could DUAL WIELD!

I will hate them forever! ;)

I don't hate sony per se , but i definitely give them a harder time than the other two.
Also, seeing how they work internally makes you wonder whether they have any plan at all - i think Kutaragi just "uses the force" or something....

Anyways, I just hate their fanboys more than others because they seem to be constantly making excuses for them on every level (right down to financial results). Saying that, i notice Xbox fans going down that same dark path.

I will go on record saying that i want the Xbox 2 to kick Sony up the ass. A scared Sony is a better Sony for everyone.
