My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 4 |OT| Twilight Princess Returns

So we have a parody of Joker/Doc Octopus, Robin, the Flash, Storm, Hulk, Green Lantern Star Sapphire, Wonder Woman/Miss Marvel...
and Twilight is a useless random ice hero? Come on!
Would have been funny as a Superman or Batman parody. Maybe even use Mare-Do-Well again as it was a Batman parody already. Maybe even Ironman. Really boring what they did with her.

Not specifically ice, she could apparently shoot all sorts of beams. But yeah, it was kinda boring.

It's right after Rainbow Dash zaps the sign to the secret hideout.

This bit?

Yeah I just read somewhere it was supposed to be a parody of cyclops, still im not seeing it when the rest are so obvious. She also does like 3 attacks the whole episode, one fails and the other are snow and ice, so its normal I thought it was ice power only lol
And she is twilight! Cyclops? really? Batman or Superman parodies would have worked perfectly. They should have used Mare Do Well for her, even if she was "real", not that the episode explains very well the magical comic, so it wouldnt be so strange to say that an important comic author knew about the mare do well story in ponyville and made a comic about her.
Still, the rest is great.

The Incredible Hulk has been Fluttershy's go-to superhero counterpart since at least "Best Night Ever", maybe even as far back as "Dragonshy".

Seeing the characters in an undeniably modern metropolis, as opposed to the vaguely-medieval* world they usually inhabit, is rather weird. I liked it quite a bit.

(*Vaguely being the operative word here, considering this is a world that has scooters, arcade games and concrete dams, and yet everyone lives in thatch roof houses or stone-brick castles.)

That episode was weird, but incredibly fun. Rarity really is the best pony here! No surprise with Pinkie Pie. As for Fluttershy... I didn't expect her to really hulk-out that much. Oh boy.

Really expected the castle restoration shtick to be a one time thing. Guess we're gonna have more eps with the old castle then.

Let me get this straight, Fluttershy is parodying the Hulk, RD is Storm, Applejack is Wonder Woman, Pinkie is Flash, Rarity is The Green Lantern and Twilight is...actually, hers i didnt get. Oh and Spike I assume being Robin. Neat. Wasnt digging their costumes though. Possibly cause I havent seen a pony hero other than Mare Do Well. Maybe its also their design I didnt really like.

Fluttershy hulking out was really odd to see whilst Rarity. Well she was

It was an enjoyable ep, for parodies and all. I really do hope we get a standout episode like Sisterhooves Social soon.

Everyone who says Iceman/Cyclops really didn't hear what Spike said. Marehorn's powerset is to "shoot all kinds of crazy power beams."

She kept doing ice beams because that was the first type of beam Spike suggested for her to do and she was having a really hard time just getting that one right. I haven't figured out who she's supposed to be yet.

Dash is Thor or Isis. She's definitely not Storm because she doesn't need a magical artifact to control the weather the other 2 characters I mentioned otoh do need one.

Meh at using cyclops and not really looking like cyclops at all to at least be funny.
And still, even with the bolt artifact, it never looked like Rainbow Dash was a parody of Thor, if the majority of people that watched the episode thought it was a parody of Storm, you had a problem with the joke you wanted to tell, not a good communication with the audience.
If the rest where not so obvious parodies, I would had let slip Twilight and Rainboaw Dash only having a little resemblance, but as the rest worked so well, the other two felt flat and were the most boring part of it.
And again, the idea of Cyclops is horrible, becuase nobody gives a shit about cyclops to be a funny parody and it doesnt even work well with Twilight's character.

Are you absolutely sure of that?

Anywho, I felt it was obvious dash was Thor. Storm never needed an item or EVER wore a helmet.

I started out thinking Thor, when I saw the costume, but switched to Storm when there was talk of her controlling the "elements". Then she made a tornado, which Thor never did in the movies or cartoons that I can remember.

Twilight as Cyclops is a stretch. I had no idea who she was supposed to be.

So Spike thought he had bought a comic book, but had actually bought a video game instead.

Decent episode again. The writers clearly just wanted to do a superhero parody for the hell of it, so that's what the episode was. Nothing more, nothing less.

Flutterhulk was a disappointment.

Yeah, im pretty sure there are MUCH larger fanbases for better heroes. The biggest problem is not that though, as I said, is that cyclops is not an easy superhero to make a parody of without the glasses thing, and that Twilight works much better being a parody of other heroes that are not cyclops, like Batman, and most importantly, they could have made more jokes about it (do not forget that even Spike was a parody of Burt Ward's Robin so that would have been a great connection to Twilight).

And no, its not so obvious that it was meant to be thor if the majority of people thought of Storm. I would never make a connection of a bolt necklace with a giant hammer and Ive never seen Thor make tornados. So if their intention was to make Thor, they failed in their parody.

You cant make two really loose parodies if the rest are going to be so obvious, thats the problem with those two characters.

Still apart of that the rest of the episode was great.

This was a really fun episode. I agree with the folks who said Twilight's and Fluttershy's super hero alter egos were a letdown. Also, I have to say I winced at Spike's revelation of the lesson he learned at the end. I know this is a show about moral lessons, but I hate it when it feels really shoehorned in like an old PSA or an After School Special. It would've been much better if it was an entry in the diary or a letter to Celestia. Minor gripe though. Looking forward to the fanart and media this is going to produce.

Ive heard this before watching the episode so I was surprised I liked Fluttershy as Hulk after I watched. I thought the reapeating joke of she not getting angry was funny (and her faces made all those responses good), and at the same time I love when she gets buffed up and does the final attack, it was obvious, but I think it was really well done (and had a creppy design lol).

I found the only thing better than Flutterhulk was the buildup leading to it.

I mean, I think that's almost the angriest we ever heard from our shy little pegasus (Next to Assertive!shy)

I shall answer the question in the form of a pony.

(Means yes.)

I can't wait. This will either be epic, or terrible. Hopefully epic.

Also, Song Please!

Wow, I don't even care for most Pinkie Pie episodes (with the exception of Baby Cakes, as it served to provide 22 minutes of her being tortured by two rugrats) but this ep has the potential to be one of the best in the entire series. I'm way excited, Orcastar!

Oh I thought that was funny too, I was mostly disappointed with the uninspired "Hulked-out" design.

Also funny how I've been getting a lot comments on my old Flutterhulk video. I'm kinda mulling over redoing it.

Also AWWW SNAP! At the new episode synopsis. Itshappening.gif

I'm not the world's biggest Weird Al fan, but that sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I fully expect music too, so bonus!

I wonder if that's not new thread worthy. Share the magic with GAF, especially since it's likely a musical episode.

Just got done watching the latest episode.
That was definitely a nice change of pace and I enjoyed Maredusa a lot. Really like the whole mane thing going on with her and how she used it to walk around.

As for Episode 11.
I'm excited from that description alone. Seems it'll easily be an episode to remember.

I was thinking of this too actually. I'm curious if there would be any fans who will cry bitter tears and whine about how he's dead to them now that he's on MLP. But there could be fans who might feel compelled to at least give it a shot too.

EDIT: Yeah, Ubertag's right, maybe closer to the airing.

There's also the trouble of potentially spoiling something by making a thread pre-airing

I wonder if Weird Al is even anywhere near as popular as he used to be. I'd imagine this would be a much bigger deal 20 years ago.

I also wonder if Pinkie Pie getting competition is an opportunity for Pinkamena, but they'll probably just pass on that. I'm not sure how it'd even be a fair fight anyway, unless Cheese Sandwich will be the Agent Smith to her Neo.

I was surprised that Twilight seemed to have the most trouble getting the hang of her powers (other than Fluttershy having trouble getting angry), even though she has already been known to do quite a bit of zapping with her horn. Pinkie, of course, was a natural.
Probably because it's a different system, and asking Twilight to do that after spending her life mastering magic was a bit much at first.

^Not that I want to be one of those guys, but there might be people who don't know about the special guest star.

Well, we're talking non-fans, and I don't think they'd care about spoilers.

Well, Weird Al is going to do a voice, but I'm not sure if that's such a big deal. Of course, I might be slightly out of touch here as my own exposure to his work peaked when he still wore glasses.

Twilight is looking forward to some quality bonding time with Princess Cadance. But when a sick friend shows up needing Twilight’s attention, it looks like her plans for a peaceful visit with her sister-in-law will have to be put on hold.
