I think that was just a nod that next weeks "Rarity Takes Manehattan" will have a song.
Laughter is just Pinkie Pie's normal state of mind, as her true power lies in being the Neo of the show. Everyone else is bound by a reality as depicted in the show but not her.

RD pulling out a Helen Lovejoy homage.
First-rate musical number with ponies singing scarily below their normal register.
Pinkie being zany.
And, of course, the Flutterbat.
Really, the only quibble I have is that Spike seemed to pop up at odd times for no reason and to contribute nothing.

I like how when Twilight realizes her spell screwed up, she's all "OK girls, WE screwed up".
They all pressured Fluttershy to use The Stare, which they really saw as the bigger mistake.

Sounds about right to me. I feel like I'll need a rewatch to reach a firm feeling on the episode as a whole - something about it felt a little weird, the pacing maybe. In any case, it was good fun the first time around.

And the asshole screwed around with Celestia's fabulous and fluffy tail.

Oh man, that song between AJ and Fluttershy, Daniel Ingram is really stepping his game up this season. AJ's accent really helps make the song more memorable IMO. Also really felt like The Nightmare Before Christmas ish, which aint a bad thing.
