5-8 hours for battery life for Switch would be AMAZING
5-8 is great. Will we be able to... switch out the battery?
Upgrading the battery in the Wii U pad was a game changer for me.
So do you guys think the better-than-expected battery life suggests an efficient Pascal architecture, what we all probably hope for, or an underpowered chip (what the "lol Nintendo" crowd expects)?
5-8 is perfect acceptable.
if it largely sways more towards 5, then no, it really isn't.
If it sleeps for a week+ like Vita then I'm all for it. Sometimes I forget to charge my 3DS and its dead after 2 days.

if it pretty consistently hits 8 though, then yeah, that would be better
I'll take the lower end of that interval and I would say that even 5 hours for a device that can reliable play Zelda (like Wii U isn't) is a damn good battery time.
bahaha, what sort of magic batteries do you think this device has. in what world is 5 hours gaming on of graphical intensive software on a portable device not "acceptable".
Some really crazy expectations on here.

USB C means it'll probably take 30 minutes to recharge.

5-8 hours sounds impossible, but amazing nevertheless.
I'm still even ok with 3 based on my current lifestyle, but 5-8 sounds great for commuters or people not near electrical sockets for large chunks of the day. 5-8 is way better. Hope it's true. 5-8 is almost necessary for people flying on planes a lot, too.
Seems like we didn't hear the same news.First good bit of news about the switch I've heard so far if true. It's actually not a total failure as a handheld.

This. Plus it really doesn't fall in line with 3ds battery life. Not even the XL/LL. So...This is almost too good to be true.
