Persona 5: It's been 4 years since I have waited for this game after I finished P4G. I'm sure the are others who have waited since the ps2 release. The wait is almost over, and this while the last time we see this title on the most anticipated lists.
Red Dead Redemption 2: Surprise of the year and most likely going to be in next year's most anticipated game list.
South Park the Fractured But Whole: After the fantastic first game, I am hype to see how the South Park guys handle the saturated superhero market.
Zelda Breath of the Wild: A Zelda game and a new console in the same year, what more could one ask for.
Crash N-Sanity Trilogy: Activsion killing it with the Nostalgia lately. First MWR and now this.
Horizon Zero Dawn: Robot Dinosaurs in an open world RPG, nuff said.
Mass Effect Andromeda: While TGA footage is a bit worrying, the game's combat looks hype.
Resident Evil 7: I'm not ready for this but I own a PSVR so I have to.
Yakuza 0/Kiwami: I've ignored the franchise too long, but I'm finally willing to jump in and how better way to do it by playing a prequel and the original in the same year.
Nier: Automata: This is the perfect game to scratch my hack and slash itch that I so need.
1. Horizon: Zero Dawn : Excited to see what Guerrilla Games comes up with. The footage looks great.
2. For Honor : Vikings, Samurai and Knight combined with a great battle system! Can't wait.
3. Nioh : Played the alpha and the beta and I am prepared to die
4. Nier Automata : Didn't play the first one but then I saw a few gifs of Nier Automata and it became a must buy.
5. Mass Effect Andromeda
6. Yakuza 0 : I only heard good things about the Yakuza series but I have never played it. Yakuza 0 seems great to start with
7. Yooka-Laylee
8. Tekken 7
9. Red Dead Redemption 2
10. Prey : After Dishonored 1 and 2, I think Arkane Studios will deliver again.
1. Divinity: Original Sin 2
2. Torment: Tides of Numenera
3. Expeditions: Viking
4. Budget Cuts
5. Battletech
6. Persona 5
7. Battle Brothers
8. Thimbleweed Park
9. Resident Evil 7
10. South Park: The Fractured But Whole
1. Persona 5 ; The wait's been downright agonizing and now we're FINALLY getting it for sure. With Japanese voiceovers even! For the first time in years I plan to take time off from work to play the shit out of a game!
2. Mass Effect: Andromeda ; I'm a huge fan of the trilogy (warts and all) and am eager to plunge into a brand new space-faring adventure. Hoping that Bioware have learned from its missteps and manages to deliver an experience that this franchise deserves.
3. Horizon: Zero Dawn ; Everything about this game looks and sounds amazing so far. There's a very good chance the game could turn out to be a standard open world affair that I'm already sort of fatigued with, but the concept and setting is intriguing enough to keep me hopeful about the end result.
4. Nioh ; Although I was foolish enough to miss out on the demo due to an initial lack of interest, I've been reading up and watching videos about this game recently. Now I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on this day one, provided the reviews/impressions don't unearth anything too unsavory.
5. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite ; My favorite fighting game franchise returns! Although I'm a little unoptimistic due to the transition to 2v2, the potential lack of iconic characters (Wolverine, Magneto, Storm, Doom...) and an artstyle I have yet to warm to, the fact that this game is even being made is pretty awesome. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it turns out to be a worthy successor to the previous games.
6. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ; Although I'm not much of a Zelda fan due to not having played much of the previous games (BLASPHEMY, I know!) this one is hitting all the right spots for me. Really liked what I managed to play at E3 and the followup videos have made me even more interested. Will definitely be picking this up for the Switch.
7. Ni no Kuni II ; I really enjoyed the first game and am super stoked there's going to be a sequel. I hope they manage to make the combat more interesting this time around along with retaining the graphical/music quality.
8. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy ; I have no doubts that this will turn out to be a very fun experience for Uncharted fans even though it'll probably be super short.
9. Nier Automata ; I still haven't played Nier yet even though it's been on my backlog for years now. However, whatever I've seen of this game so far looks spectacular. I'll definitely try and finish Nier before this comes out.
10. Prey ; I was sold the second I saw the first trailer at E3. I hope this doesn't turn out to be like Bioshock Infinite, which looked way more interesting initially than it turned out.
If we were allowed to include games that don't have finalized release dates yet I'd definitely include God of War, Spider-Man and of course, Cyberpunk 2077 (even though that one is so not coming out this year).

1. Persona 5 - The only persona game I played was Persona 3 FES and even though I never finished it, I had tons of fun with it. I always wanted to play Persona 4, but since I don't have a Vita I held off. I've been waiting to play Persona again for a long time, 2017 will finally be the year. Hopefully.
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn - Lead writer from Fallout: New Vegas. Quest writers from The Witcher 3. Technical wizards that created Killzone. I feel like all the cards have aligned and we're in for something special with Horizon.
3. Red Dead Redemption 2 - RDR is one of my most memorable gaming experiences, and I can't wait to jump back into the wild west. The only reason this isn't number 1 is because i'm not a big fan of Rockstar's focus on online. I found GTAV single player to be lacking, but i'm hoping Rockstar puts enough work on the single player this time around.
4. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - With Amy Hengig gone and Neil Druckmann working on The Last of Us 2, I believe the creative team of The Lost Legacy will be spearheading the next IP that Naughty Dog is working on. Can't wait to see if this team can hold up to the greats.
5. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom - Played around a hour of the first one, but for one reason or another I completely forgot about it. This one looks to fix all the problems of the first one, while adding some kingdom building aspects, plus the artstyle is still amazing. Hope I don't forget about this one.
6. Nioh - I loved bloodborne and i'm ready for souls type game in a unique setting and Japan is perfect. Played the first demo and it's one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year.
7. Yakuza 0 - I have a copy of both Yakuza 3 and 4, but never felt it was right to start in the middle. 0 on the other hand seems to be the perfect place to begin my Yakuza adventure.
8. Nier Automata- I know nothing about this game, but looking for a good hack and slash game and GAF is hyping over this one. The gifs also look amazing.
9. Gravity Rush 2 - Still need to play the first one, but the game's unique setting earns its place on this list.
10. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 - The last step to take before we can be ready for KH3.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2. Mass Effect: Andromeda
3. Yooka Laylee
4. Spiderman PS4
5. Splatoon Switch
6. Mario 3D Switch
7. Detroit: Become Human
8. Full Throttle HD
9. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
1. Mass Effect Andromeda : My favorite gaming franchise from last gen together with Souls finally returns. Hoping they keep the multiplayer.
2. Persona 5 : P4G was a really special experience and it seems more Persona is the only thing that can hope to match that.
3. Nier: Automata : I just downloaded and played the demo and it seems really fun (if a little unpolished). The art style is fabulous and I'm really looking forward to what ever this turns out to be.
4. Wipeout: Omega Collection : My favorite racer ever getting remastered is a great thing. Me and my best friend were thinking of going back to the PS3 version yet again but are happy to not have to plug that big hunk o' junk back in.
5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : Should probably be higher on my list but I really haven't been following the coverage for this title. It's a new Zelda so I'll probably buy it and put it down before finishing it like all of the console games since OoT.
6. Horizon: Zero Dawn : This is here mainly for the gorgeous graphics and the fact that I haven't touched a new open world game in a while.
7. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age : I'd place this higher but it feels wrong for a remaster (I know I did with Wipeout - I'm hypocritical, so sue me ). I can't believe I'll finally get to play the IZJS that I've been so curious about. I've beat FFXII 3-4 times already so for the most part I know what I'm getting myself into.
8. Nioh : Curious to see more companies trying their hand at borrowing heavily from Souls.
I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about my spending for the coming year.

3. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom: a timely release of a Level 5 game with localization, that alone is astonishing

10. Digimon World: Next Order
1. Horizon Zero Dawn: Game looks beautiful and fun. Love the setting.
2. Mass Effect Andromeda: Huge ME fan, but this new entry has to earn me. ME3 was good, but I'm getting a "more of the same" vibe with this new game. Hoping it'll prove me wrong.
3. Zelda: Breath of the Wild: The reason I'm buying a Switch.
4. FF12 Zodiac: Favorite FF game. Was jelly when I never got to play this version when it first released.
5. Prey: Really liked the original game and LOVED the idea of the original sequel. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one.
6. Resident Evil 7: Demo was good, setting is creepy and it looks like they're prioritizing horror over action this time. Good. VR is a plus.
7. Red Dead Redemption 2: Took me over a year to beat RDR. Honestly, it got boring after initialing playing the game, but it grew on me. Excited for a sequel. Trailer looked beautiful.
8. Cuphead: Seriously disappointed this is an Xbox exclusive (for now?). The gameplay looks AMAZING. I think I've heard that it's a Boss-Run type of game? I hope I'm wrong and there's a full single player story to play.
9. Night in the Woods: Love the art style. Hoping the gameplay delivers.
1 . Persona 5 : My Most anticipated game of next year for the past 4 years. Amazing visual design, soundtrack and great jrpg gameplay. Can;t wait to get my hands on it.
2. Yakuza 0 : My first Yakuza game. Love the graphics, the look of the combat and the stupid sidequests but interesting story. Can't wait
3. Kingdom Hearts 1.5&2.5: Love kingdom hearts 2. Love the Disney worlds and combat. Plus getting like 180 hours of gameplay ain't half bad.
4. Red Dead 2 : Hope they can repeat the immersion and great story of the first. I really hope they don't just focus everything on multiplayer, which is never good.
5. Mass Effect Andromeda: I really hope this one is good too. Just hope they dont fill it with shitty side quests and uninspired worlds.
6. For Honour ; Samurais. Knights. Vikings with deep combat + Dynasty warriors type combat. Whats not to love.
7. State Of Decay 2: Enjoyed the first one, just needs to fix some things which hopefully should happen in this one.
8. Gravity Rush 2 : Loved the first on vita, and with the beautiful demo I hope they can expand on
9. Nier Automata : Added straight after the demo. Never played nier, but if it has a good story and expands on that combat im in.
10. Crash Bandicoot Remastered:My Childhood remastered. Cautiously optimistic (Would prefer Crash Team Racing Though)
1. Horizon Zero Dawn: Open world game that doesn't look like jank. Sign me up. Plus its a game from Guerilla, and I love the KZ games.
2. Persona 5: When was the last mainline Persona game? 10 years ago? It's been way too long! And by all accounts, this is the best one yet.
3. Gravity Rush 2: Played the first one this year and I fell in love. I love Kat, and the game looks gorgeous. Fun to play too.
4. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom: Sweet baby Moses. Sad they got rid of the familiar system rather than fix it, but making it action is a good compromise.
5. Nioh: God damn if this won't give me stress. But I'll love every minute of it.
6. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5: Can't wait to play this on PS4 at 60fps.
7. Kingdom Hearts 2.8: A taste of the KH3 engine? Yes please!
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : I'm a big fan of the Zelda series so this takes top spot. Everything I've seen looks great.
2. Divinity: Original Sin 2: If they deliver on their promise to make this the BG2 to D:OS1's BG1 then this could be an epic GOAT tier rpg.
3. Persona 5: Almost assuredly going to be great.
4. Yooka-Laylee : I haven't kept up much with this but I loved the old rare platformers and haven't heard much to worry about development wise.
5. Ni-Oh: The demo was already good enough to be solid imo
6. Cosmic Star Heroine: The constant delays have me a bit worried.
7. Ghost Song : Not as thirsty for this game after Axiom Verge and AM2R
8. Torment: Tides of Numenera: I still think this will be ok much like Wasteland 2 but I don't think it'll live up to its spiritual predecessor or the talent behind it after the stream of bad news.
9. Red Dead 2: I'm a sucker for the wild west.
10. Mass Effect Andromeda : It gets a nod for being pretty much the only game in the space opera RPG category.
1. Persona 5: What can I say that anyone hasn't? Been waiting for 2 years and going into our third year with it. I just can't wait to play it after hearing all the positive impressions from Japan.
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn: I can't wait to see what Guerilla Games has in store for us. An open-world with robot dinosaurs and RPG elements. Sounds right up my alley.
3. Red Dead Redemption 2: I loved the first game and I had so much fun playing the multiplayer. I'm also a sucker for old western games because of their guns.
4. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: The game looks amazing and is an improvement on every front for the series. Hopefully the game will come out soon because I can't really wait anymore.
5. Resident Evil 7: A new take on one of my favorite franchises. The return to horror and concepts from PT just make this the perfect match for Resident Evil.
6. Mass Effect Andromeda: We don't know a whole lot about the game and from what I've seen based off the trailers, I believe that I'll play hours and hours of it.
7. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite: I got so hyped when it got revealed at PSX. I truly hope the release date is sometime next year.
8. Injustice 2: Really liked the first game and I hope they have an even more diverse set of characters this time. I also hope the story mode is good just like the last one.
9. Star Wars Battlefront 2: I liked the first one a lot because it brought me back to Star Wars and had such a great atmosphere to the game. It really made me felt like I was in the original trilogy. With a year under their belt to learn from their mistakes, I hope it will continuously improve and be even more fun.
10. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Its about damn time this game came out. It just means that the third game will come soon since the story has all caught up.
1. Red Dead Redemption 2
2. Zelda Breath of the Wild
3. Dragon Quest XI
4. Ni No Kuni 2
5. Horizon Zero Dawn
6. Nioh
7. Nier Automata

9. Danganronpa V3
10. Mass Effect Andromeda
1. South Park The Fractured But Whole : Loved the recent game and can't wait to play through this one with the comic book hero theme
2. Injustice 2 : Although I still suck at fighting game I enjoyed playing through the recent Mortal Kombat and first Injustice games story modes (and flailing around online and in local co-op).
3. Persona 5 : Still excited for this one.
4. Red Dead Redemption 2 : Remember playing through this game to completion while at university and looking forward to the sequel.
5. Ni No Kuni II Revenant Kingdom : Having a 360 rather than a PS3 I missed out on the previous game but looking forward to being able to play through this one.
6. Detroit Become Human : Looks interesting and right up my street with the choice system.
1. Persona 5
2. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
3. Shenmue 3
4. Nier Automata
5. Dragon Quest XI
6. Ni No Kuni 2
7. Nioh
8. Scalebound
9. Resident Evil 7
10. Sonic Mania
1. Persona 5: ni-man, kyuu-sen, kyuu hyaku hachi juu-uu en.
2. Yakuza 6: Already the greatest game ever made.
3. Yakuza 0: I don't feel like dancing, dancing...
4. Gran Turismo Sport: I'm a Gran Turismo fanboy
5. Ni-Oh. Oh boy, I died again.
6. Red Dead Redemption 2: This will be delayed I expect but whatever.
7. Wipeout Omega Collection: Oh my bleeding eyeballs.
8. For Honor. You have my axe!
9. Final Fantasy XII: Never played it on PS2.
10. Zelda: Breath of the Whatevaaa: Just so I can finally unplug that damn WiiU taking up a valuable HDMI slot on my TV.
8. Torment: Tides of Numenera: I still think this will be ok much like Wasteland 2 but I don't think it'll live up to its spiritual predecessor or the talent behind it after the stream of bad news.
.
1. The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild : Have been a Zelda fan since I was a kid and look forward to every new entry in the series. This one looks amazing and the open world gameplay possibilities seem endless. Super pumped for this one! PLEASE release this SOON NINTENDO!
2. Resident Evil 7 : Another favorite franchise. Blindly bought the remake for Gamecube and absolutely loved it. This one looks amazing and I'm glad to see Capcom make a return to horror roots (although I LOVE all the entries in the series). So excited this is coming soon!
3. Mass Effect - Andromeda : Bioware has never disappointed with this series and I'm excited to see what new direction they are going with this title.
1. Horizon Zero Dawn
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
3. Mass Effect: Andromeda
4. Persona 5
5. Nier Automata
6. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
7.Uncharted :The Lost Legacy
8. Nioh
9. Gravity Rush 2
Kinda need the Switch event to call this. A new 3D Mario is a far bigger deal (to me, at least) that pretty much any title coming out next year we know of. Seems weird to call it right now for 1 game's (Resident Evil) benefit at the cost of excluding a system's entire lineup outside of Zelda....
I guess this is what I'd give if pressed right now:
1. Zelda
2. Persona 5
3. Nier Automata
4. Nioh
5. Rain World: Assuming this is still on track for this year? Looks pretty cool either way.
6. Yooka Laylee
7. Rime
Kinda it for now. Don't really know much about the latter half of the year.
1. Danganronpa V3: It's Danganronpa. And watching the recent demo livestream makes it look like it was made for a big screen rather than handheld. Can't wait.
2. Persona 5: Looks like one of the better JRPGs since the PS2 era.
3. Mass Effect Andromeda: Love Bioware. Love Mass Effect. Loving what I've saw so far.
4. Tekken 7: Not much to say here. First new Tekken in awhile.
5. Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Zelda with lots of freedom. Looks to be almost worth a Switch buy for it alone.
6. Conan Exiles: The Longest Journey is one of my favorite adventure games and I'm still playing The Secret World. Funcom gets a lot of hate but their games are to my liking, so I'm excited to see what they do with an open world Conan that isn't forced into an MMO restriction. Soundtrack and videos released so far brings more hype.
7. Divinity: Original Sin 2: Wouldn't have been on the list a week ago since I only started the first. The original is some of the best co-op I've played in years.
8. Sea of Thieves: Liking what I've seen so far. Just not much to judge (could've ranked higher or not at all).
Tried to make it to 10 but nothing else really interest me.
1. Nioh
2. Destiny 2 (confirmed for 2017 by Activision)
3. Uncharted: Lost Legacy
4. Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5. Wipeout Omega Collection
6. Mass Effect Andromeda
7. Horizon: Zero Dawn
