New Sonic game rumored to be unviled in February for almost every platform

Classic Seaside is a perfectly fine Hydrocity throw-back but the modern level feels very thrown together to me, like the 2D and 3D elements of the stage are at odds with one another. Fun, but not something I hope Sonic Team bases further level designs off like Sky Sanctuary.

Speed Highway doesn't have this as much and probably has the best use of the drift move in any of the Unleashed-style games to date. Sort of weird considering it's Iizuka's baby modern City Escape is sorta 'bleh'. Even the remix is kinda half-hearted compared to the classic-mix.

It has its trouble spots, admittedly. The kart section is still a kart section, and the 2D water segment is a 2D water segment. But the overall layout and the way routes flow into one another is excellent and beats the pants off of even Sky Sanctuary, much less everything else in the game.

Speed Highway's not bad. Doesn't branch as much as I'd like in 3D, and similarly there's not much 3D platforming. The Going Down section gets old fast too, but that's an artifact of the original.

I'm blind, dumb and stupid? :lol

Anyway, you're missing my point entirely. I'm not in the business of wasting my time with people on the Internet so don't worry about it buddy. :)

No, I'm pretty sure he understands what you are saying. He just disagrees strongly, as do I. Maybe not enough to call you dumb or stupid, but blind? Yeah I can agree with that. That particular stage is extremely platforming heavy, and if you spam the boost, you will die. But once you get good, the boost can shave off a lot of time.

The news/rumour that the next Sonic game is Sonic Adventure 3 is spreading across the Internet like wild fire. Just do a search for the game on Twitter. I sincerely hope that the initial rumour of a mid-February announcement is correct and true. I want to know for definite and from Sega themselves whether the game is going to be Adventure 3. If the game is going to be for next generation systems I would love to see some screenshots. The Hedgehog Engine was incredible and I can't wait to see what Sonic Team are using for the next generation versions of the game.

I hope that Sega ends the speculation and makes an official announcement ASAP.

I take it you haven't played the PS3 version? It's really really glitchy to the point that the 360 version looks competent by comparison. But you're mostly right though, even if you fix all of the bugs that game is still a horrible mess!

Yeah, I've only played the 360 version, why would I play the PS3 version that's reportedly just worse ^^? In fact, a friend of mine is making me play the game to full completion (1000/1000 GS) and I've just finished Silver, I'm sure I know how bad this game is and there's a lot of wonky stuff, but the bugs of the 360 version are not what makes this game bad.

It's a pitty there are so many bugs, but most are minor, some aren't even really bugs, but just extremely bad design (the Silver fight). I even think it's amazing that you can complete this game. The S-ranks are obtainable and still challenging, there's nothing to destroy your progress (which is what I meant when I said "hardly gamebreaking"), the game was obviously played a lot by the developers. I can't understand how they could not see that this game - even if it didn't have any bugs at all and ran at a smooth 60 fps all the time, would still be a huge pile of crap.

You guys here are talking this sonic stuff so seriously. Insulting each other and such god damn.

I hope this new game is like Generations and Colors, but I wouldn't mind it having a dreamcast era like story. Though the light hardheartedness of colors, generations and unleashed is just fine.

To an extent I get it; I personally find it very interesting because of the track Sonic's taken over the last 20+ years. To go from being such a big deal to almost the bottom of the barrel and then scrape his way back to minor relevance again... no other game franchise has really done that.

It leads a lot of people to ask why. Especially when Sonic's run a pretty wide gamut of gimmicks. Most things put in to say, a Mario game, usually "work" - but not everything in Sonic games has been as smooth sailing, and you end up with a lot of people with personal preferences on what they like most.

So you get a lot of arguments about what people think Sonic "should be".

Yeah I've got into this debate before but my love for the BOOOOOOOSSST sonic is tempered by basically I feel was the essence of the character from day one. However, the technology of the time limited the developers.

Lets be real here. This Is a character that canonically can run faster than the speed of sound. Its amazing how people expect someone that can move that fast to "earn" that speed by rolling down hills and such nonsense.

There is nothing with appreciating it as a good gameplay mechanic, because it was and still is but for me when I watch things like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6ofXo6l7dE or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZUy5RhhNiM I damn sure don't think of momentum physics. I wouldn't want a return to Genesis sonic for a full game. Unleashed/Generations Modern sonic is the perfect version IMO. Nothing wrong with genesis physics for a couple second acts to mix things up though.

Seeing how the game is to be released on next-gen systems it hit me they might debut the game on the Playstation meeting on Wednesday

maybe if it has guns

Lol.

Don't be like that man. There's a chance Media Molecule will debut a new IP and GT6 could be there is well. I doubt every game that's going to be revealed there will be a shooter.

....but if that is the case, there's a certain hedgehog I know who could cover that!

That's been my assumption/hope. Although they might not get to show it until after the conference, if Sony doesn't give them time.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure Sony's given Sega any time during their conference demo reels since Rivals 2. Can't say that for certain, but I don't remember seeing Unleashed or Generations during a montage.

Speaking of which, wasn't it the on the PS3 that Sega flaunted their new arcade tech (after burner, house of the dead 4, etc) including the fabled Sonic tech demo?

In fact I even recall part of '06 being shown in that Kingdom Valley level.

Generations appeared during one of their E3 montages. Can't remember if it was 2011 or 2012. It was only for a split second though.

Shadow of Duty: Black Hedgehogs

lol and Zainetor, you hacked my brain. I was totally thinking of a new friend that's a pig.

A multiplatform Sonic would be a very weird game to debut at the Sony conference. The PS4 unveiling is going to the type of event where you see the system for the first time, they go over what its about, and then they show off 1-2 graphics intense 1st party games to showcase the PS4. I highly doubt they would show off a bunch of 3rd party games since that's what E3 is for. And a Sonic game at that? Which in all likelihood, won't be the most graphics intense game? (not that it'll look bad or anything). You're both overhyping the next Sonic game and the PS4 unveiling.

At most we'll get a list of 3rd support containing "new Sonic game" under Sega.

Both the studios you mentioned are first party. Sonic is not first party. Sonic doesn't even sell the best on PlayStation, and this event isn't in Japan so there's no "And here's what our partners have cooking up!" potential. You'll probably see FUSE 4K before a new Sonic game at the PlayStation Meeting.

I didn't expect there to be one at all.

Deep down, you really wanted a new game to be announced.

Nothing at the Sony Event.

Maybe we'll get a 3DS one at tomorrow's 3rd Party Nintendo Direct. :P

EDIT: All platforms means 3DS, Vita, and iOS.

It's possible Sega had plans to announce it, but bumped it because of the Playstation meeting.

You don't want to make a big announcement about your flagship title, only to have it swallowed by Sony's big party.

Sonic Dash was announced for the iOS. That was it.

March, maybe. If they're releasing in November like they always do it's going to have to be soon.

Couldn't they just show it at E3? It's not as if Sonic games generally generate a lot of hype among "core gamers" because most just troll Sonic games for being fast or in the same series as Sonic 2006.

I need a All 2D Sonic Game, Generations style.

I will never have it. ._.

I hate the 3D sections. Oh well.

2D Sonic's been done, though. Look at how they struggled with Sonic 4. The 3D stuff in Unleashed and Generations ended up being some of my favorite bits, and its an area with a lot more potential, I think... if they just utilize it properly.
