New Sonic game rumored to be unviled in February for almost every platform

Meccanical, edit that out now just in case.

Anyway, I don't know if this is worse or better than the kids who I used to tutor saying that Sonic 2006 was the game that got them into the series. :|

It's like that Itchy and Scratchy joke. You kids don't know what you want!

Colors and Generations 3D sections were pretty fun imo. Alot more fun than in the past anyway.

Would be nice to have special stages built on that mechanic if anything.

Yeah, since colors/gen 3d sections generally give you as much freedom as S2 special stages, that'd be about right

well I don't think there was any hedgehog smooching in shadow so I'd go with better

Here's a fun thought: Sonic 2006 is over six years old.

A kid who loved that game is probably preparing for college right now.

That Shadow The Hedgehog game is good, if you just don't play it at all and watch the cutscenes on youtube for a nice laugh.

"Shadow the Hedgehog" why does that name haunt me. It's the only thing I can remember... and that gruesome image.... *bang*

MARIA!!!

I just hope after Sonic Generations, SEGA just said Fuck it, to the demands of rabid Classic Sonic fans. CSonic gameplay is as cool as you can get and he has black eyes and a classic look.

Almost (if not all) problems with Sonic 06 had being fix, so Sonic can start next gen doing things differently, not holding back to please a few people. I've being itching for a new story, but it's so hard when you can't introduce new characters.

I'm not wishing for them to stop making modern games, you don't wish for them to stop making classic games. They were still on the wrong track with the werehog bullshit and Sonic being too fast with too much boosting and not enough platforming. They listened to those complaints and made the gameplay better with Colors and Generations. "Shitty Friends" is a meme that has nothing to do with whether you prefer classic or modern. It has to do with the fact that Sega kept adding more playable characters without giving them interesting gameplay.

I just hope this one is great so I can shake this nervous feeling with Sonic Team. Unleashed was half good, Colors was great, and Generations was fantastic, so I'm not as concerned about this one as I would have been as they've shown a rise with each entry, but they're going back to the friends, if this is true...

That means it's going to mess with the pacing they've been polishing with just sonic over each of the last few entries. Granted, the way they're doing it sounds more S3K than Adventure, though. Just get it right. Fuck.

Sonic fans are the problem with Sonic...

God forbid the fanbase actually liking the game they are supposed to be fan off. Little kids think Shadow is cool, and the love acting more mature than their age, so I imagine what they will love Shadow the Hedgehog, it's like 12 year Olds playing Call of Duty.

Nobody admits they are Sonic fan. Until a new game is announced and the excitement boils in your veins.

Edit:

Sonic 06 is fun when you know what you're getting yourself into

I wonder if Shadow is the same...

I only played a tiny bit of Shadow once but is practically Sonic Heroes, except you only play as Shadow. You are not force to use the guns and vehicules but they make the experience different.

For example there's this robot legs mech that you can use it to jump easily Into platforms or you can just ignore it. It's not broken or anything either, the story seem laughably bad though.

Look forward to the unveiling. Generations/Colours was a lot of fun.

I have some reservations about that. It could be if it wasn't for one problem: staring at load screens is never ever fun, and Sonic 06 has some of the most obnoxiously frequent and long ones that I've seen in a modern game. Was the PS3 version any better?

The PS3 version is a lot more broken in every single way, so no.

Ahahahaha

ahahaha

haaaaaaaaa

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

and yet you have the nerve to say I have weird opinions on Sonic

I don't know where people get the idea that the PS3 version of Sonic 06 is considerably worse, they're pretty equally broken in my experience.

From my experience the PS3 version introduced a lot more glitches than the 360 did.

And judging by random LPs of the PS3 version... it all seems so damn random. I'm talking like enemies turning into crates for no god damn reason and barrels pushing Sonic away in the results screen!

Yep just see it XD. All those recent Vita news make me see ghosts XD... :_(.
Nice.^^

Hopefully you Vita owners don't have to worry about Dimps' bullshit!

This one is by the Team that did Colors right? Doesn't Sega have a Infinity Ward/Trechar situation going on?

One Team did Sonic Unleashed
The other did Colors

Unleashed Team did Generations
Colors team is going on this one.

And they learn from each other.

IIRC with Genereations they combined the two teams into one; it's unknown if they split apart after the game was finished, and the rumour states this was in development before Generations.

More like Naughty Dog's two teams, but yeah, sure. It's all Sonic Team though. I imagine they're all working as a whole for this game.

By the way, the split was only really a thing between Colours and Generations.

At this point in time they need to cut the crap with going back and being scared of introducing new friends. Grow balls!

I just want to play as Tails on 3D.

I don't want to race Sonic in shitty, shorter version of Sonic Stages.
I don't want Tails in a Mech.
I just want to be forced to carry Sonic and Knucles and run super slow.

Just give me Tails already Sega, I've being waiting for over 10 years >=(

That's how it worked for a while. '06->Secret Rings->Unleashed->Black Knight, with the two teams switching off game to game. Then Colors only took a year and a half, while Generations took three years for some reason. Once Colors wrapped up, they were rolled onto the Generations project to help finish it. Haven't heard anything about Sonic Team's internal structure since, but if they're going to deploy on this many platforms simultaneously (especially next gen systems), they're probably still merged.

I like Knuckles, but in retrospect he really should have been a one-and-done character. His part in S3&K was tied to Floating Island and the Master Emerald...Robotnik duped him and do do do, you have that game's storyline. Bringing him back in every game as Sonic's nemesis / gullable meathead kinda watered his character down too much. S3&K was almost 20 years ago with probably 20+ games since then; as much as I hate to admit it, Sega blew it with that character. Just my 2 cents.

I think this whole thing needs a reboot, though. Modern Sonic was pretty okay in 1998, but the 90's are fucking nostalgia by now and Sonic Team is carrying the weight of so many bad games on their shoulders. I realize Sonic fans aren't enthusiastic about Sega scraping something they love, but it'll probably happen eventually - why not now?

IIRC, they were positioning Sonic 2K6 as a total reboot. And to be fair, I'm not really remembering many explicit callbacks to events in earlier titles in that game, so it could've worked. If, y'know, the game wasn't a steaming pile.

As-is, I'd rather just keep going forward with a Colors-style plot, and leave it at that.
