New Sonic game rumored to be unviled in February for almost every platform

I don't know where people get the idea that the PS3 version of Sonic 06 is considerably worse, they're pretty equally broken in my experience.
More load times.

Also more framerate drops from what I can tell. I only stuck with the PS3 version just cuz it was the only one I had access to.

As long as they keep Bioware, far far away from the franchise, it should turn out okey.

*Shudders*
Don't get why they didn't just use the actual Dark Legion instead of some blatant stand-in. Would've saved them an obnoxious lawsuit.

Because it would have invited an even worse lawsuit considering what's going on with the comic lately. One of the recent Sonic issues was a mess because of it.

Edit: dammit, sciz. >:|

Modern Sonic had better gameplay than the half assed emulation of classic sonic. It wasn't awful, but it was distractingly off, especially with the screwy spindash.

The number of load times is the same; the length of them might be shorter on 360, but god, they're still way too long. It's like trying to decide whose feces smells nicer.

Let's be real for a second, I think Sonic Chronicles is the worse Sonic game. And more offensive than 06.

This was done when Bioware could do no wrong (pre-Unleashed time also) so I remember people praising the game already. I felt something was off from the first screens but I was constantly attacked. I remember in one beta Screen they had Sonic with blue arms, like they didn't even checked how the character looked.

Also the story was supposed to be amazing! and Jesus what a freaking mess. I don't even know which sucks more, the graphics, the music or the story. Shade the Echida? Get the fuck out of here, that's bad even by Sonic standards.

Anyone hope they'll keep the same writers on-board that worked on Colors and Generations? The way things were written for Sonic and Tails was just... perfect in both games. I'd hate to see them dropped.

Glad I wasn't the only one who instantly though of Vita at "almost every platform." Sad.

...But the OP says Vita!

Was it really that bad? I couldn't play it because of how irritating the audio (not just the music) was. So I hardly know much about the game thanks to that.

As for blue arms Sonic, I thinkkk I remember that :lol

EDIT: Found it:

06 was literally a broken game. I don't think anything can top that.

I don't know, Colors felt like a baby story at times. But I liked the Dinamic between Sonic and Tails. I also love that Sonic there had the personality of Ben 10.

If the manage to make the story a little more mature (and by that I mean less little kid focus) then sure leave them be. If Sonic I'll love the story to be written by the guys from Sonic Battle, the dialog was great.

IIRC, they were positioning Sonic 2K6 as a total reboot. And to be fair, I'm not really remembering many explicit callbacks to events in earlier titles in that game, so it could've worked. If, y'know, the game wasn't a steaming pile.

They were building up for some sort of reveal for Blaze since among other things she got an entire cutscene for herself struggling to remember who Sonic is. That's all I remember personally though, even as a reboot it's just plain awful in terms of characters.

Oh man the screenshots. Horrible graphics that I tried to deleted out of my head, man that Sonic Model is horrendous. Also when you hit the enemies they made that awful *Boing* sound, that completely threw me out of the loop. Eggman and Big the Cat, had good lines though.

Eggman/Robotnik never fails to have good lines. Such a likeable villain!

I don't understand the love for the Sonic Franchise still. I mean Bioware put out one Mass Effect game that some people didn't like the ending of, and people swear they will never buy another Bioware game as a result, yet there hasn't been a decent Sonic game in over 20 years and people still get excited for this crap.

My positive contribution, as time goes on I do appreciate Sonic 1-3 a lot more.

I like the proposing of branching paths to different stages, don't see what the problem would be with multiple playable characters. Just keep it to the speedster-capable ones (edit: some people don't believe part of the rumor?). I understand the idea of Sonic Adventure 3 would make much of GAF very nervous what with the different story mode levels but we don't have to go to that territory even if there are multiple characters.

Already confirmed to be the case.

A, there've been quite a few decent Sonic games in the last twenty years, though few of them play much like the originals. The two most recent console titles in particular were well-received.

B, Sonic is a unique franchise in this day and age. If you're in it for the colorful mascot side of things, he's one of the last examples left. If you're in it for the high-speed platforming, there's never been anything else like him in the first place.

C, the production values are still top notch and they've got the best collection of composers in the industry.

D, the series has been marketed towards kids since day one. Almost all of the fans got roped in during their youth at one point during the series' life or another, and because of the lack of alternatives mentioned above, don't have any other way to scratch that nostalgic itch.

Sounds way too ambitious for a 2013 sonic title.

But, if it is true I hope the use the same programming framework as unleashed and generations so the three games can be one day merged together on the PC.

The generations unleashed levels look amazing so far.

Wow this is really well done, if they really had to reconstruct the entire levels using only the model assets. Self note to get generations next time it's on sale.

Sonic just turned 20 two years ago. It's hard not to get excited for a Sonic game, there's not anything else like it.

Sonic just turned 20 two years ago.

That was my point ;)

Sorry, I really didn't mean any offense by my comment. I was just a Nintendo kid growing up, so Sonic never really got it's hooks into me at any point. I shouldn't be judging. I haven't even played most of the games outside of the 2D ones.

I can see why they would return to the shitty friends well.

If Generations proved anything, it's that creating a Sonic-only game that has enough content for $60 is fucking tough and skimping on the production values could just make the bottom drop out on the whole thing.

Did you read the description in the OP? It says that they're going for a "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" style game, not a "Sonic Adventure" style one. The friends aren't going to be implemented just to make the game longer with crappy filler gameplay, but play like Sonic but with a few unique moves and perhaps be able to take routes that Sonic can't.

And Generations wasn't $60. It was $50.

Generation is the second best 2.5D platformer of this generation after DKCR, I pray they don't do something awful like going back to Super Sonic Kart.

Try out Colors/Generations when you have the chance in that case then.

Well, don't worry about it.

Ehehe. You can imagine how conversations about Sonic goes with me and my boyfriend, for example. I was more of a hybrid Sega/Nintendo kid growing up with more leanings to the Sega side for some reason (I'm very sure it was because I liked the abundance of colour and the music in the Sonic games), and he was a complete Nintendo kid growing up who only played the classic Sonic games.

I did let him play Colours once and he liked it, "because it played like a Mario game with Sonic in it". Though I don't think his description is entirely accurate or correct.

Yes, such great news (ok rumour), been dying for a Sonic platformer on the Vita ever since playing Generations on PC..loved that game. Made me replay the originals. I hope it's a decent effort if it is true.

It should look great on the Vita.

I don't know if I'm going to get it for the 360 or for the inevitable 720/PS4. Exciting times fellas.

Sonic fans are the problem with Sonic...

Okay Im really LTTP but...
I actually liked Shadow The Hedgehog it was a good game in my opinion really showed Shadow’s true sides and we learnt more about his Past, Levels may not have been that fun but it was cool and it was also 4Kids Cast’ debut Appereance and they were really good ^^

"It was a good game despite the game part not being good"

Shadow is emblematic of how Sega lost control of the franchise.

It was no longer this dorky sort of 90s cool that we could look at and smirk and smile at because we remembered those video game commercials of people with attitude wearing backwards caps.

Shadow was the update of that to what 12 year olds in the oughts thought was cool. Black color, hyper shoes, smoldering angst, colored highlights in his hair. And that's what makes him so disgusting to people older than this era of Sonic, because the idea that Sonic needed updating to this shitty, gross concept of cool is terrible to us.

But Sega is a company and companies chase money and that Linkin Park solicitude swill was appealing to these new fans.

Now they're back to trying to tap in to nostalgia and, if this doesn't work, they will probably try and update modern perceptions of cool. Maybe baggy jeans and glasses?

Sonic is what people though it was cool in the early 90's. Shadow what they though it was cool in the late 90's.

I think Shadow is way better designed than Metal Sonic and he was a great character in Sonic Adventure 2. Is the current Shadow, the same one that died in that game? I didn't played Shadow the Hedgehog and I imagine the revival was convoluted.

What?!

You heard me, at least with Shadow they where trying something. Metal Sonic is just a robot Sonic, even the name is bad.

I also prefer the Mecha Sonic from S3&K over it.
