People said that 10 years ago too. Still takes hundreds of people years and years to make games that barely touch metal.Software will fix that..

Oh boy…smh…have we reached the limit in real time graphics? Ask yourself why? Have you not played the matrix awakens? This reply is just ridiculous…I think we are reaching diminishing returns looking at tlou2 on ps4...
Sure, technically we can go way way further but the difference in reality will be limited.
WE still have not seen anything better looking than tlou2 on ps5. Even tlou1 looks at best, the same but sharper.
The Matrix Awakens. UE5. Software that uses next gen consoles….best looking playable demo in existence along with Nvidias marblesPeople said that 10 years ago too. Still takes hundreds of people years and years to make games that barely touch metal.
Rofif is known for a lot of "hot takes" that have no logic or any kind of sense.Oh boy…smh…have we reached the limit in real time graphics? Ask yourself why? Have you not played the matrix awakens? This reply is just ridiculous…
I have yet to even see the difference between 4K and 8K. I feel like if your TV is not big enough you won't see much.In theory, next gen at its peak should be able to do Native 4K/60-120fps easy and Dynamic 8K/60, Native 8K/30.
Yeah me either but just saying as by then 8K TV's will start to become available and this is what they will want to market.I have yet to even see the difference between 4K and 8K. I feel like if your TV is not big enough you won't see much.
God I hope not lol... At that point surely we have to say enough is enough to the industry.Too bad 40tflop PS6 games will also have to work on 1.5 tflop PS4
Do people not realize that every gen always takes 2-3 years for old gen to fade away? This is like this every generation lol. PS3 didn't get good until 2008-2009 and neither did the PS4 until 2015/2016...God I hope not lol... At that point surely we have to say enough is enough to the industry.
I bet it won’t.Too bad 40tflop PS6 games will also have to work on 1.5 tflop PS4
Those...are demo's.The Matrix Awakens. UE5. Software that uses next gen consoles….best looking playable demo in existence along with Nvidias marbles
Maybe the mid gen refreshes…but next gen consoles will be 40 to 50 TFLOPS at the least…next gen consoles will be between 20-25tf's and we will see the smallest improvements of any gen, while also getting crossgen games shoved down our throats
I used to be a graphics freak but I'm at the point where I prefer artistic direction, or interesting games. Some of my favourite games recently have been basic 2d pixel games like stardew valley, or cell shaded like breath of the wild.
All these TFs mean nothing to me. I've not really cared about graphics since last gen.
The point is UE5 uses the consoles power…not just standard performance like old engines…also has lumen etc…I do agree targeting 4K is a total waste…also new AAA engines will be upgraded lol…you don’t think devs will upgrade their engines? UE5 isn’t the only next gen engine…you have multiple next gen engines with micro polygons etc.Those...are demo's.
It took EIGHT YEARS to develop RDR2 for <2TF consoles. If you ratchet up the power 50x, and expect to utilize it, UE5 doesn't magically reduce that equation by 50x. UE4 was pretty impressive for it's time too, how many 1st party games use that? Gears? Forza? UE5 is a game changer for small studios to make their middling games look far nicer than they used to, but will have little to no impact on 1st party AAA game development, simply because most don't even use UE.
Look at GTA V. That game released on PS3 and 360, and yet multiple console generations later, we still don't have any open world games that touch that level of detail and minutia, save for the aforementioned RDR2. Cyberpunk is the closest thing, and look at how that turned out. Witcher 4 will be using UE5, lets see how long it takes to develop and much better it looks than Cyberpunk before declaring UE5 will save the industry from it's currently untenable position. My guess is it won't be generational leaps above The Witcher 3 either.
Yeah, we'll get prettier games that run well, but history has shown us that large upticks in hardware power are having less and less impact on the actual software itself, especially when the industry is chasing 4K, soon to be 8K and RT, instead of the actual game worlds and systems themselves.
So why are you here? Lol no disrespect…I used to be a graphics freak but I'm at the point where I prefer artistic direction, or interesting games. Some of my favourite games recently have been basic 2d pixel games like stardew valley, or cell shaded like breath of the wild.

Fast development time? That’s your priority? Not easier high fidelity games…?Shinier graphics are great but I'll take new tech that accelerate development time over more powerful hardware.
Let me get ready to turn on my XboX Series XXLGonna need a generator in the living room to power this shit.
My argument for this is that a fully path traced game would allow it to be fully dynamic, so it not only looks way better it allows for a more dynamic design of the world and gameplay elements. It also helps with the development process since you no longer need to bake anything allowing for faster iteration. If BOTW had full path tracing, fluid simulations, etc how much better would it be?
Visuals are important but there not as important as some people may think.
Yes they have. Price.Neither console maker has done anything to compete with PC in fact they've done the opposite. I don't really get how my fellow console gamers are happy with the way things are going.
Development time is increasing each generation, the more capable hardware can be, the more time development take. New breakthrough like nanite is great tool for speeding up development process (no more LoD of the pipeline).Fast development time? That’s your priority? Not easier high fidelity games…?
These new GPUs are very power hungry though, to the point it's becoming ridiculous.
Evolution should be measured at TF/W.
Current gen consoles:These new GPU cards are really kinda making the next gen consoles look bad. This gen is falling the furthest behind PC tech than ever before and this cross gen period is making the consoles feel really weak. I have noy been impressed and I sadly own boyish consoles and have played most AAA games over the last two years. I can't afford a $4000 PC though so but I'm kicking myself for buying sp many games. Should've saved that $$ for an eventual PC.

Thats trueYes they have. Price.
How could path tracing affect the gameplay design. It's really just used for lighting. My argument for this is that a fully path traced game would allow it to be fully dynamic, so it not only looks way better it allows for a more dynamic design of the world and gameplay elements. It also helps with the development process since you no longer need to bake anything allowing for faster iteration.
We are there, this is apparently a playable demo in Nov.When Pixar?
But if Sony dares charge $70 for a game … oh no the horror
