My Dream game from Naughty Dog would be along the lines of Interstellar, The Martian, Gravity, First Man etc. (Grounded Space Adventure)
My Dream game from Santa Monica would be along the lines of Star Wars, Star Trek. (Epic Space Opera)

Throwing this out to the universe so the universe can deliver it to us :)

Yeah for sure, that would work really well given their experience on TLOU. A gritty grounded fantasy game. Would be interested to see a melee focused game from ND!

Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, GT7, Returnal, Destruction Allstars, Astro's Playroom. Plenty of PS5 exclusives already. The DualSense is a next gen controller. The UI is brand new. The hardware is a massive leap.

Not as relevant anymore as selling games at full price is not the target for Microsoft, Halo will be on Gamepass and will be constantly updated over years to keep people in the subscription service.

Its fine to be disappointed in cross gen games. I am.

But the gaming media, players, GAF, etc .. all created this fake narrative as if Jim Ryan said "no cross gen games ever" and then got caught lying. He did not say anything like that. He and Cerny have both just said that they want the PS5 to be a significant jump from PS4, as every gen should be.

Its just the standard marketing shit, he's just trying to stress "PS5 is not just a PS4 Pro 2.0" cause they're selling a product. It also happens to be true.

I want The Last of Us Part III as soon as Neil wants to pen it.

Until then, I'd be love to see like a Jason Bourne style new IP game. Gimme that dodge and strike melee combat from TLOU2, some modern guns, and blend/evolve Uncharted and TLOU styles of cat and mouse stealth action. No first person view either, nah. And no need for crafting or scavenging etc, keep it focusing on combat and movement. Push the AI.

Keep it mostly linear, no need for open world. Another character driven beautiful action game, please ND.

I understand Halo will be on Gamepass, but the hype of Halo can be affected which will stop people buying into Xbox and Gamepass for Halo. Microsoft doesn't need just a Halo, they need a groundbreaking Halo that will get alot of peoples attention who are not on the Xbox ecosystem. If during that launch period you have other shooters that are releasing with huge fanfare, Halo could fall under the radar for non Xbox buyers. Imagine Halo Infinite launches with a Metacritic of 8, and the graphics are not as improved as much from the first reveal. Then we have next gen Battlefield and COD releasing that blows people away. That would obviously cause a impact to Halos launch. That's 3 shooters in the same fall releasing at the same time. It's way more smarter to release Halo without competition against 2 other big shooters releasing at the same time.

It isn't about day one, they have already said there will not be another Halo for a long long time, this is a continuing service. Your stuck in an old way of thinking.

Generally if you don't succeed on day one as a GaaS title, you just die and stay dead. What you don't understand is that GaaS titles that succeed, succeed out the door at launch. And all the GaaS that start on the wrong foot tend to just collapse and never recover.

You are the one who are stuck with the old ways of thinking, believing that you can patch a game after launch and it would be fine. This is only true with non-GaaS, in particular offline singleplayer games. Because if you patch them they would eventually become good. But GaaS games that start off wrong would never get their players back.

Not relevant as this is already a massive franchise, Gamepass subscribers will download and play it and it will be supported regardless.

While everyone can agree Halo is a tentpole franchise - one MS needs out the door - I'm not so sure they'll support it as well as you think.

I'll use Warframe as a comparison.

I can't see MS doing half of what Digital Extremes has done for/with their now 7yr old game. Not only in gameplay environments, but also in play styles, player characters, or monetization. Especially monetization. I can easily see MS pushing through pay-to-win items instead of the game growing pay-for-grind-bypass items like Warframe does. I just have a feeling Halo items will be of the "recoup costs now" variety instead of "grow game".

Since they have a whole studio dedicated to the franchise and it's a major first party IP I think it will be well supported, just like past installments if not more so.

Well, it's a bit early yet to predict 'the end.' However, it is possible that with the declining support MS gave the Xbox One with getting rid of so many development teams, etc. that their fan base has shrunk versus where it was coming off of the 360 generation to Xbox One. That would make sense even. We'll see more long term though.

Oh the criticism is definitely there! It's just...there is no alternative right now if you have an Xbox series X/S. These games simply will not be in existence for those systems until at LEAST 2022, more likely 2023 and on.

Assuming they will not make another Uncharted, we can expect a new IP from them for sure.

I disagree another IOE PowerPC Cell-based CPU would have been a better choice.

It may have been more performant in certain workloads (incidentally those best suited to the GPU anyway), it would have still be a headache for devs with it's local store instead of cache-based CPU design.

Not going x86 would have killed consoles, imho. Even things like writing or porting media apps to consoles would have been considerably more challenging with another Cell-based design.

x86 gives you literal centuries of man-hours of prewritten code for your platform for devs of every stripe to leverage. In which case, Jaguar really was the best available option.

Let's not forget that certain people are having meltdowns over The last of us 2 winning Goty and some are all over youtube being salty about it. The game certainly had its downs but it most definitely ain't the bad game that a certain minority is pretending it is.

I found that interesting too, I'm really curious too see how the next-gen patch works on the PS5 considering the SSD I/O as well as the CPU/GPU and ray-tracing performance. Hopefully CDPR do a good job of optimising it for the PS5. Just like Witcher 3, I think Cyberpunk will be widely used for multi-platform benchmarks and comparisons so it'll be fun to watch.
