I sure do love making completely useless Smash wishlists! I also took the liberty of adding a 'bosses' section.
It's like it's 2006 all over again.
Newcomers: While earlier I barely even knew who he was, Takamaru showing up in quite a lot of Nintendo media lately makes me think if they're not planning on bringing him back, they at least want him in the public consciousness and want to slowly introduce him to the west. Little Mac seems way overdue, Palutena seems to be the most logical KI newcomer (as said by someone who still hasn't played Uprising) and I think Pac-Man and Mega Man (MEGA MAN IS DEAD aside realistically he's the most likely Capcom rep Nintendo would go for)are pretty solid bets for new 3rd parties
Moveset changes: Really only Ganondorf is the only character I feel needs an entire overhaul. The rest just need a few changes here and there to differentiate them from their counterparts (Toon Link could use classic Zelda weapons adult Link doesn't use already, Falco could use some of the weapons in Assualt, etc.)... Besides Wario whom I still think has a bizarrely irrelevant moveset to his own games and could do with some more Land/World influences, starting with the shoulder-barge and replacing that weird corkscrew jump with Spring Wario. The fart move was still fun and I loved playing around with the Wario Bike though.
Assist Trophies: I really like Resetti, so I think Goombella giving you a rundown on each fighter's history as you fight (and potentially boring certain fighters to the point of sleep) or Cranky complaining about gamers these days would be hilarious. Slippy could be a 'dud' AT that just starts pestering the player that spawned him to save him before he crashes his arwing into them on the stage, Groose spawns the Groosenator and starts revolving around the stage and launching bombs and the EBA start up EBA/O!T!O! style button prompts which when hit at the right time maybe give you health or deal extra damage.
Wishlist characters: I personally think Ridley is fairly likely, a 2nd F-Zero rep is overdue and K. Rool will get in due to popularity, but either way they don't strike me as shoe-ins like the earlier characters do. Jill and Lip both beef up the female roster and represent great but underappreciated Nintendo games.
Stages: An Epic Yarn style level, Casino Night Zone with some pinball elements, Sanctuary Fortress from MP2 with a constantly shifting light/dark dimension hazard, a non-jungle DKC level that works in minecarts (and maybe the silhouette stages from Returns at one point) and a Galaxy level that tours through the various different planetoids from the two games.
Bosses for the inevitable SSE sequel: Fawful would be a way of giving the Mario RPG games more of a presence in Smash, Koloktos is one of the coolest Zelda bosses in ages (plus the original SSE had nothing in the way of Zelda bosses), Andross is completely self-explanatory, Kracko is another iconic Kirby boss I see working easily in Smash and Alexandra could be a surprise nod to Eternal Darkness that has some goofy insanity effects spawn while you fight him. It was rumored Nintendo was trying to get an ED2 off the ground with Silicon Knights before that Epic Games court case, so they may be interested in slowly building hype to a new game, SK or not.
Now watch 25% of this at best wind up in the final SSB4!
Probably because the forward smash version is a pretty poor representation of the shoulder barge, we should be able to traverse further and jump with it.
To its credit the super armour on it saved a cpu Wario from being flung off from a home run bat hit the other month.

He already has the best recovery in the game sans Meta Knight's. There's really no need to give him even more abilities that make him recover better, and frankly, his Bike and his fart are MUCH more interesting skills than his shoulder barge could ever be.
And let's be honest here, if it was a special, it would only ever be a side or standard special.
I wouldn't even consider it a recovery move, since the dash only worked on the ground in the source material anyway. Yeah, you could jump from the dash (and I frequently did, to keep my speed up), but that's not going to help you if you're not on solid ground to start the dash in the first place.
There's a problem when it needed to be pointed out to someone who loves the Wario Land games (World... Had some nice music at least) that Wario's side-Smash is supposed to be his iconic shoulder barge. I also don't see how:
1) It'd absolutely have to be another recovery move, like Shadow Hog said (plus just design it in a way it doesn't cover as much ground I guess :V)
2) What's so interesting about the bizarre bite move?
3) What's stopping them from playing around with how his other pre-existing moves work to balance him better after these changes are made.
It's like if you represented Bowser's firebreath or Kirby's inhale with a side smash. Yeah it's still there, and there may well be something more interesting or competitively viable in it's place, but for fans of the character it still feels off-kilter.
But barely any of his attacks besides the bike and Wario Man are 'Ware'-themed beyond just being 'weird' for weird's sake. It's dumb that Smash ignores the Land series when the Ware games still reference them fairly regularly and worked in little details like the Wariomobile or Land-themed microgames. Shake It! was well-received and *someone* clearly knew it was in development at the time of Brawl since Wario's victory theme is a remix from the game, so it seemed all the stranger how Brawl snubbed the Land games when you had a new one coming in the same six month period.

I agree with you. Although, Sakurai probably wanted to give Wario a more distinct image compared to the rest of the Mario bunch so he opted for the WW series version. Wario Land deserves more representation imo too. Its not looking to good with the Wii U getting Game and Wario.
Young/Toon Link's down smahs should be the shovel. It should create a pitfall that traps opponents temporarily. It could work like Snake's down smash, where the longer you charge it, the less visible it is. Also the longer you charge it, the longer your opponetn gets stuck.
I think there would be a bit of chatter for Wario though it makes sense. It's alright for a character like Link though, hah. I think a compromise would be to better tune his moves to his Wario Land character rather then giving him random moves. I can imagine Sakurai giving him an extra mechanic to his grab where you can tap a button to shake your opponent for a little more damage. OR they could simply put Captain Syrup in to rep WL and call it a day
Idk about the shovel idea, unless you can shovel in midair. lol
Is anybody else annoyed by the extremely unrealistic smash rosters for 4 some people pull out of nowhere?
the ones that get me the most are the ones that add a bunch of impossible third party characters or anime characters and have the nerve to remove a perfectly valid veteran (such as Jigglypuff or the Ice Climbers)

Wario should have two movesets/stances, WarioWare being the brawl incarnation but even more wacky and more references to the games, and WarioLand being the Project M incarnation.

It would be nice, but recovering could possibly be even easier than in Brawl so that might be whay he's holding off on that. And is that Quilava in your avatar?
A spike is generally not a true downward direction, it usually has diagonal angles. Also iirc a player can recover from a meteor smash whereas in a spike they can't.

Snake got in so all "logic" behind 3rd party pics kinda go out the window with that (other then the fact that they're the main character of their series and that said series is on a Nintendo console in some form). "But he's a special case! They were friends!!" well really, there's any number of character that could be "special cases" by that logic ... like Travis Touchdown or Bayonetta.
The only thing I really don't like is when people disregard everything and list characters that they think should be in "just because". Like Pac-Man ... there's nothing interesting about him and Namco never listed it as a series they may want in Smash. It's kinda like their "dead icon" like MM is to Capcom. But he should be in as their rep ... because.

Did Namco ever list series they may want in Smash? All I recall is them saying "we're probably not putting a Tekken guy in it" or something to that effect.
(Personally I'd probably want Klonoa, but I could probably be convinced to go in favor of other Namco characters.)

Yes, they have listed series in relation to Smash. As in "The fans, rather than asking about Tales or Gundam, or some of our other franchises, the fans abroad saw Tekken as one of the key words and took off on that".
And as for Tekken, their very vague about it. As in "ehhh, maybe it's not the best thing for Smash ... buuut we do have a ton of fans asking for Tekken sooo IDK".
Like in this statement which came after he said Tekken may not be what people want in smash or something ...
The feedback was very mixed, there were two camps, one said, “Harada, you’re very right, we don’t need the Tekken characters in Smash Bros, good job”. It’s nice that they agree with me but on the other hand, they themselves don’t exactly need Tekken characters in Smash Bros. so it’s kind of complex. Then there’s the other half were people saying, “No, you’re totally wrong, we want Tekken and SoulCalibur characters in the game ,otherwise why does it need to be developed be Namco Bandai?” So there’s really two different sides and it’s difficult to choose one. Obviously I’m not going to say to Sakurai, “We want Tekken characters, please put it in” — that’s not the case, so people don’t have to worry about that. The sole decision will probably be made in a way that if more people want Tekken characters in it then Sakurai might choose to do so, if not then so be it.
Hell, even the Tales Of people have stated how they would love for characters from the series to be in Smash in a ONM interview when they said "Maybe if we beg Sakurai-san, it will happen! I know Higuchi-san would love it, but the decision is Sakurai-san's. I think it's too early to talk about it".
But no one from Namco ever brings up Pac-Man and I think it's simply because he's their "dead icon".
Well, if I had to go by what I see from Namco ... he seems pretty "dead" to them.
At the very least he's not to them what Mario/ Link or Pikachu is to Nintendo/ GF.

Not really, there's still a Pac-Man game released for every single console, Pac-Man is in at least one game just about every year, Pac-Man is getting spots in a ton of Namco-related crossover-type games (e.g. SFxTekken or the Arcade Mario Kart games)...
I also remember that one case where those people who made a programming language and offered a Pac-Man game to download, and Namco DMCA'd them. That was like a year or two ago.

Not to mention Miyamoto is an enormous Pac-Man fanboy. Think the only other thing off the top of my head I can remember him liking even remotely as much which isn't Nintendo-owned is SimCity, and that's probably partially why Dr. Wright was an assist in Brawl.

All that says is that Pac-Man shows up in stuff ... but none of that comes across as "this is Mario/ Pikachu level love&support". Just comes across as a dead icon .. "icon" in that he's a relic from the past that pops up for the lulz sometime but "dead" in that he doesn't seem important to the company nor to the fans of the company and at some point he loss what popularity he had with the new generation of gamers/ fans.
That's pretty much what I mean by "dead icon". He's no longer a relevant member of the current popular culture. I mean, damn ... Namco's having a survey for fans to pick out the art style of the next Pac man game. What does that tell you other then "We don't know how to make this character appealing and we don't care enough to decide ourselves"?
You're using a children's show that was supposed to be out in 2012 but some how got pushed into 2013 (with "3D" footage from 2010 btw) as your prime example?
Yeah, I'm sure Pac man will be in SSB4 ... as an AT. I'm sure he will make a cameo but by no means do I think he will be a character rep for the Namco company given their (and their fan's) attitude towards him in respect to Smash talk.

Could be nifty. Would be nice if Smash U introduced some more non obvious themes from games.
And I never thought I'd see the argument that Pacman is a dead icon. Guess you missed the scandal with the Google logo which apparently cost companies millions of man hours. People still love him. Pacman is an icon of gaming and unlike Megaman, who you keep comparing him with, he still gets games. Also to dismiss the cartoon is silly. Do you honestly think Namco would ignore the opportunity to spread interest in Pacman's image?
If I had an actual job I would be willing to bet you $300 that Pac-Man aint getting in or at the very least he wont be the lone rep for Namco on the roster.
I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't give to shits about Pac-Man. It's ... a very, VERY boring character design with nothing interesting about it. It's a happy-face ball with arms and legs and no squash and stretch from what I can see.
Actually, one of the main things we know about this game that people REFUSE to acknowledge or talk about is the fact that Sakurai and Iwata talked about character customization. I already listed the only real things that could mean IMO more times than I can remember but "move-sets" is very much one of the ways I think it can be played out.

Bayonetta logic works, but Travis? When did the creator express fondness towards Sakurai? Also what "lots of characters"? Only Kojima was known to have that and probably Kamiya.
