Te'o actually played in a cover 2 system, or rather a heavy split safety system. Conservative as hell, dropping way deep, everything in front of you. Thing is, he was never the prime cover guy in that system. He'd drop deep but you rarely saw him run up the seam with a TE. Lots of quarters coverage, safety had his back. ND rarely blitzed their OLB, they were more cover guys than pass rushers. They used Slaughter as an OLB even though he's a SS, so they could keep TE/Y in check. Spond was used in that position, dog backer, this year and he did a pretty good job, guy to keep an eye on. Dog backer is the cover guy at ND, Cat is the pass rusher.

Bottom line, Teo didn't have to cover a lot of ground in the pass game, he had help and better guys around to help him out.
Mid-2nd round seems a sensible spot for a team that's more scheme limited and want to take a chance to see if he is a three down guy. He continues to be linked to the Giants by many beat writers and I just don't see it in the first for us being a team that sits primarily in nickel and the premium positions for us are on the defensive line. Shit, take Vacarro over him when you look at how we use our safeties! I think the Bears would make a nice landing spot for him if he were to go in the first. They are primarily cover 2 but have the talent around him to allow him to succeed in much the same manner you're describing.

I'm done with slow/smart LB'ers. We could have just resigned Blackburn if that was the case.

Really wonder where Arthur Brown goes. He's good against the run, has the athleticism to cover, but dont think he's great cover guy. It was clear in the bowl game that Oregon wanted to take Brown out of the game, had an up and down performance, but they optioned off of him a lot. Put in a bind a lot, tough spot to be in, especially in bowl game. Looked good when I watched a couple of kstate games, they were always smoking teams so I tuned out quickly.

Lavonte went mid second last year, that's prett crazy if you think about it, better than all these guys.

Cant wait for the Patriots to kick the Steelers in the dick this season.
You will have to wait a little longer for that!

From what I recall we did the kicking last time (except your qb has no dick so I guess it was in the c*nt). Woodley is still here and Brady shat his pants at just the mere sight of that fat, lazy bastard!

That was the 1st time in like 10 years the Steelers beat Brady so of course you'd beat your chest about.

I bet you still have nightmares and Branch going deep for a td.

Fisher called Austin a "midget" at a season ticket holder event, and said Lacy wasn't a 1st round back. Odd comments at a fan event the day before the draft, though those are definitely out of context (that I don't have)

Alligators live in the swamp so they have only been watching football since 2001. Being the evil monsters that they are they tend to gravitate to the Pats.

Tank Carradine took a beating when I spoke with team sources today. I don't think the NFL world is as enamored with him as the draft media

Lance Zierlein ‏@LanceZierlein 47s
I'm also not finding many teams who are excited by Bjoern Werner. I had Tank out of my last mock and Werner going 32nd

Cant believe how guys like Werner,Jarvis Jones and Damontre Moore just fell off.

This feels more like a hockey draft than a football one. You've got a handful of guys who will provide immediate impact, then a shitload of guys who need some seasoning or will be thrown out there regardless of their readiness because teams are thin at certain positions. You'll see a lot of busts coming out of this draft because guys will be asked to do things too soon.

I think anyone from 5-20 would like to trade down for more picks. The question is: who the hell wants to trade up?

Some one who desperately needs an olineman.

Can you imagine Marino in the 1998 AFC Championship game, rather than Testaverde? That would have been a hell of a game, even more so than what it was.

Testaverde threw 100 more yards against the broncos than Marino did. Game came down to the jets not being able to establish the run and that fucking home field advantage.

So Nassib is either going to the Bills or the Jags. Bills don't want to use #8 on him but Jags are going to take him at #33.

This is the reason for the Barkley and Bills talk.

I still like to think Marino would have performed better than Testaverde. That game was a blowout from the very first drive, as contradictory as that sounds. Miami couldn't stop the run to save their lives.

As far as the Jets, it didn't help that Belichick couldn't stop TD when it mattered.
