Shame about all that "potential" talent/starters and no Quarterback to take you to the next level.

Your team goes as far as Sam Bradford can throw and thats not very far.

The teams who have no QB issues are the teams that are relevant, the rest will fight for next years top QB prospect.

Obviously. As evidenced by Stafford throwing for 5000 yards and going absolutely no where, all the while taking fewing sacks, throwing fewer TDs and more INTs than Bradford, with the best receiver in the game to put up a truckton of garbage yards...

But good on you for realizing the Lions are on the fast-track to no where :)

I like the Lions and their fans. I think they are poorly coached, and I'm not much of a Suh fan, but Stafford has talent that just needs to be reined in. Won't go anywhere until Linehan and Schwartz (and maybe Mayhew) are replaced.

Some interesting stuff about the Rams:

-Only two players over 30
-Only 15 players remain from Spags era
-44 of 59 players on roster are 25 or younger
-26 of 32 players on offense are 25 or younger
-11 of 12 RBs, TEs and WRs are 25 or younger (Cook is 26)

First time in forever that the offense has a chance to do more than just try and survive. If they did it right, they can be good for many years, and it will be for cheap. A lot falls on Bradford. If he isn't up to it then they will replace him after the year, in a QB rich draft where they have 2 first round picks

Surprised that the Rams did not go with a Tackle.

The team I think just nailed the draft was Jacksonville. I don't think the have the QB there, but they have acquired so many potentially good skill players that the rookie next year will step right in and succeed. Smart not to waste a pick on a QB that probably would be no better than Henne

Surprised that the Rams did not go with a Tackle.

They said were going to use the 3rd round pick they eventually used on Bailey on Terron Armstead, but NOLA got him first. I think they wanted to trade Saffold but could never find any takers. So he'll play RT for the season and they'll go from there.

I didn't love the draft. Hate the McDonald pick. Poor man's Taylor Mays. They also took Barrett Jones, which they admitted was a pick with an eye towards interior depth more than a starter. But they couldn't have worked the first round better, and I like Bailey.

Saffold ended up going to the pro bowl in our Madden 13 league, so there is hope that he turns it around. ;p

I got grudge sucked!
I was pretty happy with that signing and he'll get a lot of playing time. Good fit for him.

I'm concerned over the Raiders QB situation. Who's the starter? Matt Flynn?

Anyway, Vernon is the type of player that will go across the middle, catch the ball, get blasted and still hold on for the 1st down. He will be a good fit depending on the system.

anyone playing the steelers: Run right at Jarvis Jones, and you'll win.

WOW, Niners

lol. As a Steelers fan I thought the same thing when they drafted him. One of the more baffling prospects to ever get his tires pumped. Tombert kept harping on his tape, but it's pretty clear on tape that the majority of his sacks came when he was allowed to run free. Kid is terrible at getting off blocks and takes terrible angles. The Auburn tape is especially damning, got stuffed all day long by a sophomore TE. Not to mention all of his work out numbers would have put him in the bottom 2 of all LB prospects at the combine. Had an acid flashback to the Huey Richardson pick.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

I see the beginnings of a Lions-Rams GAF alliance.

Any word on the kicker we picked up as an UDFA squicken? Did placekicking and punting in school but doesn't seem to have the range of Zuerlein or the arm of Hekker. He just a camp body brought in for some competition or is there something we like about him?

2013 Utah Pro Day: Reginald Dunn, WR (5-9 3/8, 178) - Dunn ran the 40 in 4.25 and 4.26 seconds. He had a 36-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-1 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.36 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.85 seconds. Dunn had 17 lifts on the bench press. Dunn has never been a full-time starter, but his speed might get him a look by an NFL team in training camp. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

We signed this dude. How a dude with this speed not get a at least drafted in the 6-7 rounds?

Good point about Sherman. I really didn't know much about JFF until last year. I just want him to stay eligible. Seems like a player with lots of entitlement issues, but I always assume that with most athletes. The only thing he has ever done that has bugged me was the fight and arrest, but as long as it doesn't recur, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that it was his friend popping off
He had his keys taken away in high school by his dad cause he couldn't stop driving drunk. He claims it was a wake-up call.

c+ sounds about right for now, but dobson and collins could be really great. im very happy with them as our first 2 picks.

sucks for the dolphins that they couldn't get a once-in-a-generation coach like harbs. they would be ruling the AFC East with an iron fist right now just as the niners rule the NFC West with one.

lesson learned ross: you can't buy a man of integrity like harbs!

Only question mark for the Giants draft was the pick for Nassib. Hopefully this go 'round they stick with him and give him 2-3 seasons of work. They gave up on Andre Woodson and Rhett Bomar fairly fast.

Other than that they've built up the OL and DL, which was sorely needed. They didn't go CB which is a bit surprising since Reese loves picking corners. I read they did not covet the names at #19, although since Hayden was gone they might've went in that direction if available.

Mary Kay Cabot ‏@MaryKayCabot #Browns CEO Banner helped draft Foles. Don't know yet if he'd be interested

Yes please.
Da fuck? You following Browns beat writers now? You tryna take this beef to whole new levels brah!
Edit: but really I'd almost add anyone to the Qb comp, I thought eagles gaf liked Foles last season?

I've been thinking about the Rams taking both the WVU receivers, and can't quite figure out the logic. Austin will be great, but I don't understand taking Bailey. Bailey is a possession receiver with great hands and OK speed, but he's only 5'10. 5'10 is slot receiver height in the NFL, not an outside receiver. It's extra perplexing when you consider seattle in their division with two corners over six foot. I love Bailey, but I just don't see where he fits in the NFL.

Yeah teams always carry an extra kicker at camp. Just in case of injuries and to save the leg of the vet during camp drills

I'll be honest I never really got the Tavon Austin love (although I wouldn't have minded if the Jets drafted him because it gives me a reason to watch). He's a ridiculously undersized receiver whose playmaking ability has been overstated, at least it wasn't showing up in college to the point to merit a top 10 selection. History is definitely not on his side.

Time for a Lions draft wrap-up! Changes from last year plus new additions! Not including undrafted free agents.

QB: Stafford
WR: Megatron, Burleson, Broyles, Young Sr., about 40 others
RB: Bush, Leshoure, Bell, Riddick
TE: Pettigrew, Scheffler, Williams
RG:Peterman, Warford, Austin, Nagy, Gandy
RT: Cherilus, Hilliard or Fox
C: Raiola
LT: Backus, Reiff
LG: Sims

Riddick perhaps makes special teams contributions, including returning punts. Supposedly Bush-like, which leaves the Lions with Bush, Bell, and Riddick all having the same style. The offensive line looks brand new. Warford is supposed to bring far more in the run blocking game than the released Peterman, who was the weakest link of Detroit's offensive line last year. Austin, Nagy and Gandy will all fight for the spot as well, or push Raiola at C. Reiff was drafted as the LT of the future and started there last year in Backus' absence. We of Lions-GAF hoped for Fischer and Reiff being on the team allowing Reiff to take over the RT and having a solid inside line, but we'll now have to settle for Hilliard, a long-time backup, or Fox, oft-injured, taking over at RT. The offensive line might be bolstered by the addition of Michael Williams at TE, who will replace the Lions former blocking TE Will Heller. I know Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press is sad about the Lions missing out on Denard Robinson...but I don't think he or doctors have proven that he'll be able to catch or hold onto a football.

DE: Avril, vandenBosch, Ansah, Young, Taylor, Lewis, Jones
DT: Suh, Fairley
OLB: Levy, Durant, Palmer, Whitehead
MLB: Tulloch
CB: Houston, Slay, Bentley, Green, Greenwood, Black
FS: Quin, Spievey
SS: Delmas

The Lions are replacing Avril who still believes he is the best DE in the NFL and vandenBosch who got real old. Thus the DEs are brand new with Ansah projected to be a project by projectionists. Young had a let down after being super efficient the year before, and Taylor was taken for his size and pass rushing skills. The interior remains the same, as do the linebackers aside from the departure of Durant. The Lions return starter Houston at CB, plus three second year CBs. The addition of Slay creates lots of competition for the second starting spot, perhaps bolstering the Lions nickle spot as well as depth chart. A first in nearly a decade. Spievey has been up and down since converting to Safety from CB. He was on the up and up until a concussion against the Saints in the playoffs and hasn't seemed to recover. Quin shores that spot up next to Delmas, provided Delmas can stay healthy for more than five games.

K: Hanson, Akers, Kickalicious
P: Harris, Clingan, Martin
LS: Muhlbach

The Lions apparently want none of their new specialists to feel like the job has been handed to them, taking on two new players in each position.

Seems like they were trying to go with BPA as per their own evaluations. They got a lot of good value in the later rounds and that would explain the lack of D Lineman.

Ive watched all of Tavon's games the last 3 years(WVU student). I can promise you his playmaking is not overstated, the kid is a beast. Never missed a practice here, he's small but he's tough.

I have no idea but Id like to hear some of the aftermath. You posted links before but I was on mobile and it wasnt connecting very well. Can you post links again?

So the Vikes drafted a punter in the 5th yesterday? Ruh Roh Mr. Kluwe.

If he was still posting on Gaf none of this would have happened. Clearly the Vikings saw his lack of commitment and were forced to make some moves.

No offense to you, but lists like this are such horseshit. I would love for someone to go back and evaluate a teams draft choices after the average career length and grade them. Lists like that just make me laugh because there is no real basis of what is good or bad, just Kiper's "expert" opinion which is usually pretty far off.
