Mind telling me how Boedker and Oshie have developed? Might be willing to let one go, depending.

Also could make it online tonight. Can you sim forward later than usual tonight?

Its already ~2am here when I sim. :lol

I suppose I could just sim really early tomorrow morning.

Blah

I wonder if Smiley was wrong and keeping prospects on the 4th line is not, in fact, better than having them play top line AHL minutes.

What? I never said that, I exactly said letting them have top line AHL minutes is better oO. I think Frattin was playing top line AHL for me and went from 72 to 76 I think.

I said to keep them wherever they get most playtime&best stats, so I try to keep my prospects in juniors/minors until they can at least play 3rd line in the NHL without sucking.

A lot of it isn't guaranteed though, e.g. Kostitsyn played 1st line NHL and didn't get better, while Gagliardi played on the 3rd for most of the season and got a lot better.

Brendan Burke - Goalie - 51 Overall - 4 Star Potential

You can look at them by switching teams in the contracts menu.

Thanks! Goalies were at the very bottom of my 4star-draft list, so... I'll just be glad I got a 4star. Rather wanted a forward dang. Oh well, 2 young 4star goalies can't hurt.

Biggest change for me was Clutterbuck from 79- 83 and Gardiner from 81-82 lol.

What do you guys think is a good overall to put a prospect in? I am thinking around 70-75 overall would be good. I am somewhat trying to rush Stone with 67 overall.

I try and wait until they make the 3rd line. Usually you could "force" a prospect onto a higher line and see how they do/just keep them there, but with the automatic best lines, it'd just relegate them to 4th line or even scratch them, which would suck. So I'll try keep them in minors until they'd make the 3rd.

Maybe you can understand in your infinite wisdom how the following post says exactly the opposite of what you're saying now:

Like I said, higher is always okay. NHL > any minor line.
Which was in reply to my Q:

What about 'minor scoring forward' on the fourth line? They should just be in the minors then since they're not ready? Connolly is a 72 and has plugged in at times for me.

Maybe you can understand in your infinite wisdom how the following post says exactly the opposite of what you're saying now:

That was with respect to their designated lines (1st, 2nd, 3rdS, 3rdC). Look around the posts there and you'll notice. I was talking with respect to putting a player designated "minor" as a 4th liner in the NHL would NOT get a penalty, vs a player designated 4th liner put in minors WILL get a penalty. What's better for their development isn't always the same, all I was saying was that he will NOT get a "per-se" penalty for being put on a line lower than his designation.

Sorry if that caused confusion, but that's what I meant. The differences are marginal though and a sample size of 1 can't tell you he'd have done better playing in minors.

EDIT: it's the same way I'd say it would've been okay to put him on the first line. It's not necessarily better, but he won't get a penalty for it. Players playing on lines lower than their designated lines get a penalty, regardless of how well they play there.

Press "Y" to download update to change 2012/2013 NHL Live Moments to 2012/2013 AHL Live Moments.

Please tell me you're not joking :(

EDIT: look Soc I'm really sorry for the misunderstanding and if you're blaming Connolly on me now, but i thought it was clear from context I was talking about line designations. And that "any NHL > minors" was with respect to "in line designations, 4th line NHL counts as higher than any AHL line". Not about development. I thought the context and everything else I had said about prospect development up until then/now had made that clear.

But as is, it's not guaranteed Connolly would've developed much better in minors (e.g. My 2nd liners got much better than my 1st liners).

Corey Crawford wants 4.5 Mil per year. James Reimer era begins now in LA.

Is tomorrow resigning or beginning of FA market?

Free agency starts on Tuesday, so everyone gets multiple negotiation rounds in and doesn't get completely cap screwed/loses their players to RFA/UFA.

Leave Smiley alone. He posts so much that he probably loses track of what he says. He's the Mitt Romney of NHL threads.
Mitt Smiley.

Smiley, np. I understand what you were trying to say. But even with context there's only one way to interpret that sentence, especially when I had said "so it's best to keep those guys in the minors?" and instead of saying "yes", you reply "NHL > any minor line". Y'know? Anyway, all good. I've learned a lot from you otherwise on how EA's system works, so I can't complain.

That probably works but seriously fuck that shit. I made the changes I needed to and am ready for the draft.

Smiley- Bet $100 on the Patriots over the Broncos tomorrow. That's my lock of the week.

Shoulda listened to you! :p

Surprise of the offseason for the Leafs is Leland Irving, who went from around a 75 to an 83, jumping ahead of both NHL goalies from last season.

Hopefully this means I can bury Bobrovsky in the minors this season.

Kulikov 83 -> 87

The improvement I was happiest to see. My top pairing is pretty deadly now. Afraid to see what kind of raise he's gonna ask for, though.

Also a pleasant surprise: Laakso 72->80

Arnott retired, which sucks. And a few guys dropped that I didn't expect to (Brouwer, McQuaid).

Who would like Ericsson (DFD)?

Timmy T wants 6+ mil a year for 3 years.....7 mil for 1

lol

The other contract demands make sense, he is 39 years old and wants 3 years, oy

Red, what was Kane asking for?

Crazed, what about Schenn?

Some of you got your big boys signed right away. Well done.

Marvie, thanks for giving me a bit more time. I guess you're not such an asshole cunt after all. <3

This was a very uncuntly post on your part for once. <3

I'll be damned

And this is why we are in a lockout!

Can we bury contracts in the minors? Does EA let us do that?
ELC are NOT why there's a lockout. At all.

Yes, you'll be able to put guys in the minors.

No.

#2 - Cunt
#3 - any of the chains of profanity I unleash playing EASHL

Isn't that normally what happens when you have a horrible season?

Totally worth it. Now my top six is complete.

Landeskog-Toews-Versteeg
Shinkaruk-Skinner-Setoguchi

The kid is an absolute beast. 78ovr, 5 gold star potential, 18 years old. He'll be in the mid-high 80s by the time his ELC expires.

Anyone need a 2nd line center? I have both Johansson and Schiefle up for sale.

Alright so here's what I have up for trade.

LW Steen 83 (reached potential)
LW Kulemin 82 (4 star)
LW Beleskey 83 ( 3 1/2 star)

I'm also willing to move a dman not named Erik Johnson or Cody Franson.

FUUUUU Did you win the lottery or something? Check what position he got drafted at. SOOO JEALOUS FUUUU.

Also marvie please don't sim early tonight either, my flight got cancelled in Portland and now I'm stuck in Seattle atm. Won't be home til later. -.-

Had some interesting jumps in stats for my team and some strange ones that didn't go up.

Anyways a quick summary along with signings:

Expected Good:

K. Shattenkirk: 84 -> 87
S. Crosby: 95 -> 96

Surprised Good:

N. Gerbe: 79 -> 84
R. Jones: 79 -> 80
D. Heatley: 85 -> 86
J. Sheppard: 77? -> 80
M. Perreault: 77? -> 81
Also a few younger players and reserves who grew

Expected Bad:

Surprised Bad:

B. Schenn: 79 -> 79
B. Couturier: 78 -> 78
D. Orlov: 78 -> 78
B. Wheeler: 83 -> 83
N. Hjalmarsson: 83 -> 83

So overall pretty good, the Surprised bad really caught me off guard especially Orlov and Wheeler. Wheeler played on the first line with Crosby the entire year and put up a great point total but apparently being young and good doesn't raise you any levels. The same can be said for Orlov because he played way better than Voynov when I traded Voynov. Yet I took a look and Voynov ended the season with only 14 points or so and -14 while Orlov had 20+ points and was +6. Yet Voynov went up to 80 from 77 and Orlov stayed the same? Makes no sense. I kinda saw that coming with Schenn and Couturier, even though both played a great deal on the 2nd line this season and both were listed as 3rd liners, they had no growth. However, Schenn was injured quite a bit and Couturier played decent. Hoping for a bounce back year from both, I locked up Schenn for 4 years at 2.75M, so hopefully the gamble pays off and he can reach some great potential.

Hopefully we have some good FA or RFA hit the market, I have some cap that I want to use and I have resigned all of my players I want to keep, well besides two that I'm waiting to see on depending who becomes a FA. :D

I have dibs on Lucic and can't wait to offer sheet Seguin when Smiley can't re-sign him.

I have playmakers galore that can give your team some depth. Team is the Bruins if you want to see if there are any players you're interested in. I don't have (m)any pure snipers but I have 5 or 6 twenty goal scorers. High round draft picks available as well.

Since you're a Habs fan, how would you like to see "The Great Dane" Lars Eller on your roster?
