Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Announced | Available Today on Console, PC, and Xbox Game Pass

- Don't know what the fuck they did with the difficulty but G'damn shit is now piss easy, I'm steamrolling through the enemies on Hard and it's not fun at all, feels more like Dynasty warriors than NG for fuck's sake...
They didn't do anything with the difficulty, there seem to be less enemies, but the enemies act 100% the same as in NG2, I'm literally playing both at the same time now and there's no difference, same amount of damage, same amount of aggression, same amount of bullshit grabs (so far, I haven't fought the fiends yet in black, but they are grabby assholes in NG2, if they are tuned down in black I'd actually prefer that, I never liked some of the grabs in NG2).

honestly... I wouldn't want it. UE5 isn't an upgrade in all regards. and honestly, I feel NG Black on Series X probably looks superior in many aspects to whatever a UE5 remaster would look like.

the motion artifacts in this one, the constant Lumen shimmering, the awful screen space reflections on top of low quality lumen reflections, the dithering on every transparency, the smearing of particles and moving textures...
like, even this one looks worse in many aspects compared to the original Xbox 360 release.
I do, couldn’t care less about your opinion.
One of the best fucking games ever made imo

well, I'm not sure about this even being the case.
when I first started the game on Series X, I set it to 120fps mode, and 60fps cutscene mode.
the resolution was so unfathomably low, that I legit closed the game from the System menu and rebooted in 60fps mode.

suddenly the opening cutscene looked a million times better, even tho the cutscene framerate was still set to 60fps like before.

if this setting worked in the way where the DRS goes higher at lower FPS settings, it should have stayed the same in both of my cases, since in both cases the cutscenes were locked to 60fps.
so it seems to me like the upper resolution limits of the cutscenes are still just the same as the upper limit of the main gameplay FPS mode
There is a 120 mode on series x?

Edit: nm I see it.

which is why it deserves better than a UE5 remake.
They’re making 4 in that engine too, may as well get used to it. I’d rather get a remake of I Black than have to deal with Sigma version on current generation. Don’t want to keep my Series X around for 1 game. It was 2 games, but with II Black it’s only one now.

I wish this had the original enemy count, just so the fanbase could calm down a little... however, there was too much annoying shit in the Xbox 360 version, so that I never found Sigma to be that much of a downgrade. With the gore back in, I'm sure I'll enjoy this a lot. The core appeal is the combat system and so far it was great in every version of the game.

Man, I can’t believe we just got three ninja gaiden reveals in a matter of weeks. This is my favorite gaming franchise right next to metal gear so it’s been sorely missed.

Between these games, Delta, and Kojima’s several projects I’m excited about more upcoming games than I have been in years. This gen was sort of a bust for me but there’s a lot I’m looking forward to as of now.

there was no UE logo in the trailer, and it being made by Platinum, I doubt it's UE5. fingers crossed

UE5 is gutter trash, and it's always a bummer when a dev team uses it

I don’t see how when NG2 Black runs and plays like a dream on console, and it looks visually stunning on top.

particle effects are smearing, the lighting is constantly flickering and shimmering when moving through the levels, lumen reflections are disgusting with low quality RT overlayed with artifact ridden SSR, the TSR artifacts in motion are ugly, hair looks dithered and unstable...

looking stunning it does not.

Playing it on the PS5 atm. Just taking a short break and have to say that this remake looks gorgeous and the combat is still EXCELLENT! All the characters look great and have much improved! The game is so so smooth.

I wasn't ready for this!!

Okay back to more crazy ninja actions.

Not seeing it man, sorry. Though, I’m not really paying much attention whilst playing the game proper. It looks good to my eyes.

Something is super wrong with the game on ps5 pro visually. I put it to the 120fps mode and hair looked awful in the first scene. Looked like a ps2 game or worse.

60 fps seems to have fixed it.

Finished chapter 3, this one actually had the biggest changes.
I'm not sure if the original chapter three was hated or something, but it almost seems like they want you to go through it as fast as possible now.
in NG2 this area is FILLED with fiends, they are just fucking everywhere and show up by the dozens, there are also tons of archers to make your life miserable.
in black the fiends are replaced by ninja dogs and claw spider ninjas; they only show up twice, once before going into the underground, and in the underground itself in that one long passage, they are just as relentless with their grabs and attacks as in NG2 though, but there are less of them and only two encounters.
Then there's entire corridors that are just empty now, like when you have to destroy the fans, nothing happens there, in NG2 it's filled with every enemy type, archers, ninjas, claws, fiends.
They also blocked off the two extra passages you can find by destroying the fans, so there's nothing to do in that area now, not even finding the incendiary shurikens (I guess they are removed entirely now? I don't remember if they were removed in sigma), you just destroy the fans and move on to the next area.

The boss of this area is complete trash in NG2, and while he still sucks in black, he's a less annoying now thanks to being able to lock on to his head with the bow.

So while the enemies are just as aggressive as in the original, this section of the game is actually drastically easier simply because all the fiends are gone and the projectile spam is lessened.

Disappointing to hear that. I want every single level to be action packed. At least on the higher difficulties.
Doing a warrior run through and then will tackle Mentor. Fairly sure that Master Ninja is a locked difficulty until you beat it in either Warrior or Mentor

Looks closer to a remake than a remaster. Some of these graphical changes are massive and clearly different models.
I played both NG2 and NG2S, and they are not hugely different despite all the purists yelling at the top of their lungs. I actually thought NG2 original was a bit too hectic and all over the place and liked the pacing of NGS2 a bit more.
Will pick this up eventually, just already played the hell out of this game, but so happy to see NG make a return.

Ninja Gaiden 4 looks interesting, good thing they got platinum on board as I don't trust Team Ninja to make it after NG3.
The reveal looked like it had a lot of Revengeance DNA. The only thing that I was a little concerned is I didn't see any different weapons, just swords, which is a big no-no. Absolutely need weapon variety and not just fighting styles.
Fall 2025 is also really soon, seems they are really taking bringing this franchise back seriously, which is great as that is what it deserves after the BS Team Ninja pulled (I still played 3 OG and then the remix with RE, but it was a far cry from the first 2).

I’ve spent more time playing ninja gaiden this generation than anything else. Two of the first games I bought with my series X were NG Black and Vanilla NG2. It’s been that kind of generation for me but these classics have more than stood the test of time.

Neither is flawless but this series is still the pinnacle of action imo.

Edit: the only bias I will cop to is that all I’ve ever wanted to be growing up was a badass ninja.

All I need to know if they keep the original Chapter 11 version.....the mission is in the ninja village, and you're fighting wave and wave of suicidal zombie ninjas

In the sigma they toned down that mission significantly, I want the original mission BACK!!!....has anyone got to that part yet and confirm

Bought fuckin' instantly, even if it's based on Sigma 2 (what else can they do if original code is lost forever?). I hope they'll do the same with the first Sigma at some point.

Downloading now. Can't wait to play it and see what they changed in comparison to Sigma 2.

Play it on Gamepass or buy it for pro enhanced? Someone help me here.
If you have GP, play it there. If you like it enough, then make a decision to get it either on PS5 or Series X.
At least on Series X, you know the next console will have it enhanced as well as their games are forward compatible and they have a history of using the extra oomp of the next gen to make older games look and play better....for free.
