Nintendo Pictures is a CG animation and motion capture company located in Tokyo, Japan. Nintendo acquired the company, then known as Dynamo Pictures, in 2022 and renamed it to "focus on development of visual content utilising Nintendo IP".

In its previous incarnation as Dynamo Pictures, Nintendo Pictures produced CG for a number of movies and TV shows. The company also worked on the CG in games such as Final Fantasy XIII-2, and provided motion capture for Nier Replicant, Monster Hunter World and Persona 5.

Other than Death Stranding 2, Nintendo Pictures has only worked on Nintendo games since the 2022 takeover, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario RPG, and Another Code: Recollection.

While the appearance of a Nintendo-owned company in the PS5 game's credits may seem surprising, the company (as Dynamo Pictures) also worked on the original Death Stranding, so its possible that its work for Death Stranding 2 either took place before Nintendo's takeover, or was the result of an agreement signed before the takeover was completed.

Under the list of business areas on its website, the company lists "motion capture recording services" separately from video production using Nintendo IP, so its possible it could continue to work on non-Nintendo game projects.

It has worked on several non-Nintendo animation projects since 2022, including motion capture and CG production assistance for Toei Animation's Pretty Cure anime.

Following the completion of the Nintendo Pictures acquisition, the company said it would aim "to make Nintendo characters known to customers around the world and create one-of-a-kind videos that will remain in their memories forever".

It added: "To this end, each and every one of our employees will work hard to create an organisation that can continue to grow, by always considering what could be interesting to customers around the world, and engaging in production work that they enjoy themselves."

As Dynamo, Nintendo Pictures previously helped with the CG cutscenes in Metroid: Other M, and produced a series of Pikmin 'short movies' in collaboration with Shigeru Miyamoto for display on Wii U and 3DS.

It might not even be a new work
As I expect some of motion captures reused from first game and so should be credited

Literally nothing but a CG studio making some CG videos. Nothing to talk about or take away from this.

Looks pretty newsworthy for me

Why is this news? Sega's animation studios has been doing this for the longest.
Sega are also out of business and don't have a console to support. Nintendo failed numerous times and always come back. Nintendo is untouchable. Nintendo has made you their bitch.

Imagine if Sony and Nintendo worked together to make an actual system, but then something happened and they parted ways, that would crazy too. Is that a PS1? No, no, it's Nintendo fanboys trying to make nothing seem like a hard fought victory because they have empty joyless lives.

What's next? In FIFA some of the billboards around the pitch have playstaion on them, even on Xbox, must be a massive win for playstation, right? Grow up ffs

The company already worked on the first Death Stranding (among a lot of other games) before being acquired by Nintendo :
"The company provides a wide range of cg animation, layout, modeling, and facial/motion capture services for games, film, series, commercials, and pachinko casino games. Some of the productions it has worked on include the animated productions Yuri!!! on Ice, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, and Earwig and the Witch (pictured at top), as well as games including Death Stranding, Persona 5, and Metroid: Other M".
And the production of Death Stranding 2 has probably started before the Nintendo acquisition of Dynamo Pictures so ...absolute nothing noteworthy

Fun fact: Bend and Insomniac also worked as one of the many Death Stranding 1 internal and external support teams.

There's CG in Death Stranding 2? I thought everything was real-time by now?

That's the most puzzling thing in all this news.

Does that make Death Stranding 2 a first party Nintendo game?

Why is this news?
Companies often sell services to whoever wants to pay for them.
There is nothing stopping Nintendo or Xbox from using PlayStation localisation services, for example.

Makes sense, Sony's capture studio isn't in Japan so less travelling needed.
Call of Duty have used Sony's before (forgot which one and which capture place) and Resident Evil 7 has used SM capture stuff.

I remember being a fanboy when I was in my young teens, but now as I'm older I don't really see myself participating in this rivalry. I would like too see a poll to learn what age the console warriors are in today.
