Nintendo Direct announced for September 12 (6AM PT, 9AM ET, 2PM UK)

gotta figure they will surprise with some new smaller 1st party title for this year. And have a teaser of a big 1st party game for next year.

besides the release dates of known 1st party.

I want it to be FromSoftware and in 3D. Zelda 2 is basically a Souls game.

Nintendo doesn't usually have a presence at TGS, so this won't impact the timing of a MonolithSoft announcement
No, but they always time September Directs/ announcements to coincide with TGS based on third-parties needing to have their games announced/ marketed if they are on display at TGS. Many third-parties have their games announced in the September Direct and then have them playable at TGS. It's not really due to Nintendo exhibiting themselves, that hasn't happened in decades.

Generally speaking, in recent years the September Directs have been some of their most high-profile showcases. 2018 in particular was stellar. But they're almost always pretty good. Especially this being the first one since Switch 2 released, there's a lot to show no doubt.

I beg they drop some actual bangers this time and stop wasting time. GTA IV or V port would be nice since R* killed GTA Online on Deck no doubt to sell GTA on Switch 2.

RDR2 would be very nice to see.

Also all the Switch 1 games getting 60FPS and or Rez boosted.

If only that artstyle and mood was still in this licence.
No more horror for Metroid...

For the direct, I'm expecting to finally see Megaman Taisen ! Hopefully a full 3D 3rd person game. Curious about what type of game it is.

As for Nintendo, I'd love :

  • Earthbound remake in the Smash bros art style
  • New F-Zero
  • Mario 3D open world, with a metroidvania progression (good chance of happening imo)
  • Zelda Alttp remade in full 3D. Please, it's time for a reimagination of this world, and could fit the bill for a mid budget game using the BotW / TotK engine and assets.
  • New Wario Land / World in 2D or 3D
  • New IP Monolith Soft, hopefully not like Xenoteens please.

Prime 4 release date
Prime 2 + 3 drops
New 3D Mario reveal
New 3D Star Fox reveal
New F-Zero reveal
Two Animal Crossing Titles
Metroid Dread 2
Bloodborne 2 (NS2 exclusive)
Rare gets reacquired mid-Direct and they announce Banjo-Threeie

You heard it here first.

I've found myself in an interesting position since Bananza was announced. I've been waiting so many years for a 3D DK follow up, it has been my number 1 wish since the last days of Space World, E3 and since Directs began. Ridley in Smash was another one of my Jr High wishes finally come true.

So with that said, I just find myself not caring quite as much when Directs get announced. Don't get me wrong, I'm there minute one during every stream but I am coasting on fulfilled dreams right now.

I could go for some Bananza Downloadable Kongtent. But the game is still so fresh I really could wait a good while for that.

I suppose my biggest wishes now are Dixie Kong in Smash, Sonic getting its act together, Star Fox getting its act together, F-Zero, 3rd person Metroid and 3D Yoshi.

I know im going to love Zelda, Prime and Mario. Can't wait to see them but they've never felt like straight up winning the lottery when they come around.

September Directs are always the best ones IMO

September tends to be pretty good for third parties, but I find February tends to be better for first party in most cases.
February ones could announce several new games and reveal gameplay, while September ones have tended to focus on the holiday lineup (which is usually already announced).

Of course there are exceptions (2018) and things might be different in the Switch 2 era.
Rayman returns in 3D

Enjoy ;)
Do you know that it will be in this Direct specifically?

Usually they announce the timeframe of the game announcements like this winter or something, and veer off for 1-2 games. This time it was just upcoming.

Monolithsoft or i riot.
Guy who also leaked showcase first, switchforce and andy from vcg seems to be hinting at mario too.

I mean, it's Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary and there's a brand new Nintendo console with currently zero announced upcoming Mario games of any kind on the docket. And also a new Mario movie coming out in April. Not exactly rocket science here...

Nintendo needs to impress "old moose". But, I actually think they will "mostly".

Mooses' TOP 10.

Things i wonder about or I think we see.

1.) SEGA - Shinobi has launched. What is the next game of the "Retro Revival"? Crazy Taxi or Golden Axe? Something else? Allegedly, they have nine games in development, last we knew.

2.) Mario Sports games…are they getting new entries on NS2 or Deluxe versions to make development quicker? For Example: Will Mario Golf Super Rush just get DLC that will add essentially the 3ds version to the game? As an example.

3.) Konami: Will we see Castlevania or Metal Gear?

4.) What Switch 2 editions are next, and what are "free vs. paid".

5.) Will Xbox and/or Sony first party show up? If so, what will we see? How many games will we see?

6.) More than one shadow drop will happen. Maybe an indie, or F2P, NSO or a new addition to "Free" NS2 edition updates.

7.) Dr. Mario Anniversary is this year as well. Will we see anything? Are they scared off by the mobile game failure or the pandemic?

8.) Will we see Nintendo's next baby-steps into e-sports?

9.) Mario Anniversary: Is it Super Mario Galaxy 2? Or something else? HD2D collection of the original games?

10.) Nintendo will do something to tick me off, what will it be?

Telling people a game is coming out in 2025 and putting it at the very end of the year is disingenuous.

It's not? Just giving a game a release year usually means that the publisher isn't ready to commit to a release date yet, for one reason or another, not "we know the release date but we're going to hide it from you."

So I don't think any deception was going on here. I think there were minor development/QA issues that made it impossible to lock in a release date earlier this year and that's why we didn't get one.

Galaxy 2/Super Mario 3D Land collection and a new WarioWare, please and thank you.
New WarioWare would be great, but we're getting WarioWare's way hotter cousin, Rhythm Heaven. So I'm happy.

All I really want (that hasn't already been announced) is Mario Maker 3. I want to be able to build levels using a mouse, finally!

GIVE ME MARIO MAKER 3, NINTENDO. I'm even happy to wait a bit longer on a new 3D Mario.

They need this to be really good. Since its Nintendo, It won't be because their whole shtick is stopping when you think they Will do just enough.
