Yesterday I played A Link Btween Worlds again.
I still can't believe how good it is, and I still don't understand why many people found it easier than the other recent Zelda games, because I felt the opposite. Puzzles were satisfying to solve and that's all I ask for. There's also that sweet hero mode.
Honestly I like it more than ALTTP: the original introduced hundreds of things but it's slow and some of the things you have to do are too obscure. Fast Zelda is best Zelda to me so I hope this one will deliver on that side.

It's a phenomenal game, but the one-item dungeons still bother me. The puzzles ARE satisfying to solve, but not as satisfying as if you had entered the room not knowing which items to use and ended up combining like three to solve the puzzle.

Because that was an unfortunate byproduct of non-linearity, I'm curious to see how they handle these rumored 4 main dungeons. Maybe you are required to get some base items in a few of the mini dungeons before attempting any of the main ones.

One worry about the 100 mini-dungeons rumor: it reminds me of the Riddler challenges or the tower missions in Arkham Knight. Samey and not meaty enough individually. I hope the entrance to those mini-dungeons is a least well concealed like Zelda 1.

I really enjoyed ALBW, but honestly I wish they had just used a new iteration of Hyrule. I'm one of those crazy people that doesn't even rank LttP in my top 5 Zelda games, so reusing the map didn't do much for me other than give me a feeling of deja vu. I thought the game could have been even stronger if they gave it it's own world, with more room to develop mechanics, locations, characters, and lore.

I definitely agree with the sentiment of your post though. ALBW was a huge, heartening return to form after the uneven Skyward Sword.

These are both great points. I still loved the map in ALBW but I'm sure that something new done right would have been even better. Let's see if Nintendo really shaked the series with this new iteration.

Welp the conferences technically start today and I'm officially feeling the hype. Could not be more excited for new Zelda info bring on Tuesday!
and bring on female link

My god only two days! I can't wait for voice acting and a huge open world to explore!

I finally got to watch the Gamexplain video and they were talking about how Link is right handed instead of left. The only game Link was right handed was SS of course. And they mention maybe Wii controls was coming, but that's not the point.

Andre says maybe this ties into SS with Link still being right handed and Ash says "yeah this game should be about Links journey on how he goes from being right handed to left handed". Lol I thought that was funny.

I'm so unbelievably excited for the reveal, it's been too long since Skyward Sword and I'm dying for more 3D Zelda goodness. TWO DAYS!!!!!

based on his twitter, he's *super* drunk lol
These last 2 days will be the longest :(

Also, drunk tweeting!? Didn't even know that was a thing...I'm always drunk Gaffing, never tweeting...lol

The NX release rumor is early 2017 or just 2017 ? or some were 2016 ?

Nintendo LOVE to launch things at holiday ( logic ), so maybe they wait for next year?

And it's "sad" if there plan was to release 1 console better then PS4 and xbox 1. The both of them release a "upgrade console" lol. They surely did this to counter the NX.

I'm hoping the Supplementary Computing Device patent is put in practice for the NX...then for holiday 2017 (or shortly after) Nintendo could offer people who want it, a method to get NEO/SCORPIO performance for an extra $100-200....much better than having to purchase another console at full price for a mid generation performance bump.

With Scorpio rumored to be out September 2017 - and who knows when NEO is planned - Nintendo could be able to catch up if they're trying to change their tune and compete in the spec game.

So I am reasonably sure someone will at least mention NX, but what do you all think the chances are that they will give us some actually interesting information? I'm guessing at best we'll hear the time frame for the reveal event, but you never know- someone may talk about features or games or release timing... what do you all think?

None. Don't do this to yourself.

These demos will have been rehearsaled a dozen times before we see them. They will have token responses for every NX question.

Well even outside of the demos there will be dozens of interviews with various journalists and Nintendo people will be asked about NX. Like I said I expect at best to hear a reveal date or time frame (hopefully something clearer than "later this year") but there's always the chance they're allowed to drop some more information.

Agreed. I don't expect any NX info. None.

Nintendo will announce the date of reveal later.
I'm expecting some kind of information about the reveal date and/or location of NX to be shared during Nintendo's 76th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on June 29. Or in conjunction to that.

Yeah, this is most likely the case. The official reveal of an important product that may influence a company's future is a big news to general journalists and consumers. A meeting for shareholders is probably the best opportunity to announce such reveal date.

So stoked for Aonuma slowly explaining through a translator that The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Grass was inspired by his new hobby mowing the lawn
Game gives you a platinum if you mow every blade of grass across the map.

Looks early in its infancy to me /shrug.
Have you used it?

Not to be condescending, just want to know if you tried it and weren't impressed or just haven't been particularly enthralled by the concept.

I wasn't a believer, but I wanted to be one. Thought that there was no way that they would get what /I/ had imagined VR to be. But I was dead wrong.

First time I ever used VR way back in the day when I still had black hair and didn't use makeup. Awwwww

*counts on fingers* every single one in existence since the original oculus - I couldn't believe they were actually meaning to sell that shit to consumers. Things largely improved since then, of course, particularly with the Vive - they finally got spatial tracking right, and I finally cannot count the pixels' individual R, G and B components without effort, so we're slowly getting there.

Alright, well you totally got me there!

I'm so sorry if I came across as gatekeeping, just wanted to spread some faith!

Yup, I am shocked at how quickly this E3 snuck up on me. Maybe it would be different if I knew NX were going to be there, but this wait hasn't been unbearable, and I'm still really excited to soak in all that new Zelda info. I think having to wait for release after E3 will be much more excruciating.

After playing with VR, the day that gaming jumps ship 100% will be perfection. VR is beyond mindblowing, it's... speechless.

After gaming on all three VR alternatives (Vive, Rift, Gear VR) that day I willl quit gaming. The tech works, absolutely, but I never want to spend more than 20-30 minutes at a time with it, and can't foresee motion controls ever working beyond the most obvious uses - never for complex controls.

It has its place - for certain applications, experiences, and as an accessory for specific gaming applications. But not as an all encompassing gaming platform.

Hopefully Nintendo clears away from making it central to any of their plans.

Less unbearable? No, not for me. I am more excited than last year. The wait is killing me.

Just imagine if NX was confirmed to be there!

Replaying Zelda 2 now to help make the wait easier... I would really welcome a return to some light RPG/experience elements in Zelda U. It adds another sense of progression beyond heart pieces and items/upgrades.

Is it a fact that this new Zelda is releasing at the same time on both the Wiiu and "NX"? I don't remember reading that anywhere.
