4 main dungeons seems kind of a waste for such a huge world.
Unless those mini-dungeons aren't that mini. Or those 4 dungeons are massive.
or there is a TON of stuff to do in the world between each dungeon

Link was the book all along.
it's not because you can't solve the puzzles that they are poorly designed. Even as a kid i could beat and find logic in these puzzles. I don't understand what made you bash you head so muchMe and my bad opinions are here!
Just got out of X-men Apocalypse (Bryan Singer can't direct his way out of a paper bag lmao) and now I'm on line! If anyone here wants to see yours truly, I'm the cutest redhead in line![]()
As for thinking Wind Waker is harder than ZII, ZII's challenge was simple and dexterous. Every time I got my ass kicked, I knew exactly why I screwed up and how to get better. For Wind Waker, the puzzles were so horrendous and poorly designed that I spent hours bashing my head in until I caved and used a guide the entire time.
And I love puzzles (LOVE Silent Hill, Zero Escape, and Phoenix Wright puzzles), I just think Zelda's are awful.
Still here on line though! Kind of ironically but kind of excited. Nah, I'm pretty excited.

They mention special guest, though.
Mother 3, maybe?

And Zelda II's puzzles aren't? The game has you finding the one square on the map where something randomly happens. Or jumping into a random solid wall to continue. Not only is the fighting some of the most difficult in the entire series, but the basic progression is quite possibly the most obtuse and illogical.

Man I can't wait to gallop from those grassy fields to that lava filled area to the north. I want to see spectacle rock that looks like a skull on the map. I want to the the coast and the beaches. I hope you see waves crashing on the coast.

There are no random spots on Zelda 2. Every secret is always on the same spot.
Oh, come on. ¬_¬
That's obviously not what I meant. If you are playing with no knowledge for the first time without a guide, there are many things you have to do that are required for progression that aren't logical or understandable, or are just reeeeally hard to figure out or find. So when I say the game makes you jump into a random wall, you should know what I mean.
They mention special guest, though.
Mother 3, maybe?

I dunno man. I beat Zelda 2 back then, and the only spot I needed help was opening the 7th temple (where you have to use the flute) and finding the hidden town of Kasuto, which really wasn't hard in hindsight because it's a small area and if you cut all the trees, you'll find the town.
I figured out all the temples on my own back then. Whenever I was in a dungeon and came across a "dead end", it was logical to check if there was a hidden path. But then again, I played a lot of NES games and I was used to hidden/invisible paths in games.

That's all fine. I'm sure there are people out there who figured everything out on their own. But that doesn't change the fact that we were comparing Zelda 2 to Wind Waker. Of the two, Zelda 2 clearly has more challenging combat, and more "Well how the hell was I supposed to figure that out" illogical moments. Wind Waker is incredibly straight forward in comparison.
So naturally, it baffled me that someone could "bang their head against the wall" when playing Wind Waker, but make it through Zelda 2 just fine.

Mother 3, maybe?
I find them poorly designed because I feel they lack conveyance, have poor pacing, and don't have a good gameplay/reward loop. If you don't that's cool, and kid you is more than welcome to be better at me at video games.it's not because you can't solve the puzzles that they are poorly designed. You described the absolute worst part of Zelda II! Absolutely one of my criticisms of it.And Zelda II's puzzles aren't? The game has you finding the one square on the map where something randomly happens. Or jumping into a random solid wall to continue. Not only is the fighting some of the most difficult in the entire series, but the basic progression is quite possibly the most obtuse and illogical.
If Wind Waker's completely logical and incredibly easy puzzles made you bash your head until you used a guide, then I don't understand how you didn't crack your skull open when you played Zelda II.
Honestly, I'm not even trying to insult you. I just honestly can't comprehend you. Zelda II is possibly the hardest Zelda game in the series. If you really did find Zelda II easier than Wind Waker, then your brain must be wired in a completely different way than mine, and you have very unique skills that I can't even begin to imagine having myself.
Everybody's different, I guess..
So technically I played Wind Waker as a teen (Twilight Princess was my first Zelda game), enjoyed it but never beat it, and played Zelda II as a teen and never beat it.Oh of course. I wasn't debating that. I just said that there were no random spots in Zelda 2.
If he found WW harder than Z2... well, maybe he played WW first as a kid then as an adult he played Z2 (maybe on the VC with save states) and that's why he found it easier?
But there's no way in hell that WW is harder than Z2.
Combat in Wind Waker was pretty fun. I really liked how you had to cut the strings off the armor of the Darknuts with the parry move. I also think your slashes changed depending on which direction you pushed the control stick. I felt Wind Waker was pretty dynamic in that regard, and Link incorporated his spin attack really seamlessly with that system. All I want is more aggressive enemies. I'm also hoping for substantial side quests and interesting characters. The random farmers in the E3 2014 clip seems like a good sign to me that the world will be pretty organic.Nope! And unless Hero Mode changes the puzzle difficulty, I'm absolutely certain. The combat in Wind Waker was sooooo much fun though. After I beat it I thought "Man, I wish there was a Zelda game that was that but minus literally every dungeon and puzzle"
... and then Hyrule Warriors was announced!
Which is one of my fav Zelda games

I think this is the first Nintendo E3 where I literally expect nothing. Anything will be a nice surprise.
URA means Other. That became OoT Master Quest.
Majora's Mask was called Zelda Gaiden.
Anybody else think maybe this Link will be a girl? That's right. A girl Link. How about that?
So one of your fave Zelda games is a Musou game.
I don't know, but it would seem that you don't really like the Zelda franchise that much.
Yesssss, you nailed it exactly. Loved how visceral and melodic the combat felt.Combat in Wind Waker was pretty fun...
I like it enough to camp overnight to get a chance to play Zelda U at E3So one of your fave Zelda games is a Musou game.

I agree with the spirit of this post but not how you phrased it. Jeez, man!Or, like me, he prefers the more combat-heavy design of the first two Zelda games. The developers didn't always have a puzzle fetish.

4 dungeons would be a disaster for a big commercial Zelda, ergo they won't do it.
Was Majora's Mask not a big commercial Zelda?
Err, not really mr. hyperbole.4 dungeons would be a disaster for a big commercial Zelda, ergo they won't do it.
Not really, It's the weird experimental one, and people love it for that reason. A lot of people also hate it for that reason.
Zelda U doesn't have the luxury of being pretentious and talky like MM is. It needs to be a ground-breaking, home-run, universally-praised action/adventure game. Screwing around with expectations for a new Zelda just isn't a risk Nintendo can be taking considering the position they're in right now, and this game's relevance to their new hardware.
I don't understand how some of you guys are surprised by the news. Nintendo hasn't done anything remarkable in the past 3 years. Can't disappoint your fanbase if you have nothing to show at all lol.
You claim they need ground breaking and yet at the same time say they can't fuck around with expectations. What the hell do you want this game to be?
