It's mind boggling that we are finally going to see footage of the upcoming Legend of Zelda for the NIntendo Wii U/NX. And in a few short hours, to boot!

Erm, we've still got around 28 hours to go :(

if i'm not mistaken, what aonuma meant by "play by yourself" wasn't a multiplayer concept, but rather giving the game a feature similar to the tingle bottles in wind waker hd, where you make a post and throw into the water for other players to find. Sometimes people would give free photos from the sidequest where you need to take pictures of many characters of the game. I think the game will follow this idea.

hmm, when WWHD came out it seemed that was part of what he meant, but did he ever clarify after whether that's all he meant by the statement, as in, not a traditional MP experience at all?

Here's my theory:

- Triforce Heroes concept expanded (you need several players to complete a dungeon, beat a boss... etc.)
- Link is an NPC not the traditional hero of past games (this could explain several heroes like female Link)
- The climb thing is going to be a main theme on the game (I'm jokingly calling the game "Triforce Climbers").
- The Treehouse demo will be multiplayer focused (that's where I think resides the main novelty... maybe something related to the interaction between them? getting ítems, beating bosses... etc.?)

And yeah, the reaction from the gamers would be a repeat of the Wind Waker reveal hahaha

Edit: hahaha relax guys! It's just my opinion ;D

Thanks for clarifying, Orgen. Really appreciated :)

My theory on that "Play by yourself" and "doing dungeons in certain order" themes Aonuma told us in 2013 were just things they wanted to implement on "next gen Zelda games", including A Link Between Worlds (dungeons in any order) and TriForce Heroes (multiplayer), but not necessarily for Zelda U.

Or maybe they decided to test the waters first with smaller games to see how the fans reacted and implement those ideas on the big game. If that's the case, maybe they decided to drop the multiplayer element recently and delay the game accordingly.

I hope if there is a multiplayer element (local, online) is purely optional. My TriForce card is collecting dust, and never really used the online function in XenoX except for passively obtaining credits.

The interview was this one, i doesn't sound like it would have multiplayer in the "traditional" sense, but rather the tingle bottle idea, where you would feel connected to other players, but the game is single player:

Ah, excellent, thank you so much for the link (no pun intended). :) I wonder if that philosophy has morphed at all during development. We'll see either way likely tomorrow!

I would love this. There would be a lot of haters, but that's the kind of change that would get me interested

I will be okay with something like A Link between worlds but not with a shop where you can buy items. Maybe obtaining the items through "side quests". And I would prefer that we have some liberty with the dungeon choice but not total freedom. Story wise it would be better to reserve some dungeons for mid or late game.

I think it would be hilarious if someone could beat the game with only using the shield.

In the Treacherous Tower, I tried to use an item kinda like this to beat it (and failed, I think). Intermediate or Advanced, maybe? I don't recall.

I made it pretty far IIRC but couldn't beat it. I think I was using one of the lanterns or nets, but not a super powerful one unless I'm misrecalling. Hm, not I can't quite remember which item I used *or* the difficulty. So I suppose this isn't a very useful anecdote. But, I think I at least remember it was an item that made things a bit more difficult for me in the Tower, and that in using this method I made it decently far but not to the top.

This was one of the reasons why I love playing A Link Between Worlds on Hero Mode, as the game had given you a lot of options to complete the adventure in anyway you see fit. It was a blast to see if I could kill Yuga Ganon without any of the Tunic Upgrades and just used the Fairy Net & shield.

I was sweating fighting ganon in hero mode

9 months away... is it wrong to be more excited for this game coming in 9 months (hopefully) than I would be for my eventual child to be born in 9 months?

If so don't tell my wife, okay?
It's only wrong if you don't name your offspring after some iconic Zelda character ;)

Small news

Nintendo has now removed the metadata mentioning U-King (Zelda internal code name) etc. from the files I wrote about here and here.

Good thing I found it in time.

Wow, congrats man. Tingle is ok, just don't name your child Zant. :)

Nintendo may remove it because of your discovery! Anyways, thanks a lot for the tidbit.

Well done! Removing it definitely implies that it's important in some way.

No, no I meant that when we eventually decide to have a kid (likely within 1-2 years) I doubt I'll be excited as I am for Zelda coming in 9 months haha

Don't congratulate just yet!

Removal could go either way. Either because it is connected to the title's name or because it actually isn't and they wanted to remove incorrect/outdated information.

Haha, sorry I misunderstood. I will take back the congrats for now! Now that you mention it, Zelda is basically occupying all of my mind for these few days. I really don't know if anything can excite me as much as Zelda.

U-King would fit to the newest art work depicting a cursed Hyrule castle. Maybe the title of the game really is something with King. Usurper King?

U-King matches the fake leak from E3 2015 where it said the title was Unbound King.

It's not a bad title really.

More than likely though it's just a code name and nothing more. Actual title will be something totally different.

This would be the second time when NoA uses as internal name something from a fake leak (after the Pokemon leaked by Trev). That would be a pretty smart anti-leak tactic.
