Nintendo @ E3 - No Direct, Just Zelda Treehouse Stream

whoa this got picked up on late. yeah, so after reggie was politely but hurriedly moving into the hall, this one guy approached one a woman wearing a nintendo-branded sweater and asked if she worked at nintendo. and then he kinda of launched into this inquiry of why the decisions were made related to censorship in games and if she had any comment about how nintendo censors games. she told him she worked in event planning and his question was more of a logistics thing. he said okay and went along while she turned to her coworker basically going 'the fuck was that'
That sucks; I guess at least he wasn't berating her?

About the posters asking how much Zelda vs. Pokémon will be shown tomorrow. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that some Pokémon and Zelda footage will be shown at the beginning along with Reggie's Remarks, and then the live stream itself will be all Zelda. Is that correct, or is something else correct, or do we just not know?

I was kinda thinking that they would play Zelda for a bit, and then at a really inopportune moment, switch over to pokemon for 10 mins.

What you're saying would work well though.

You know. Something that just hit me, I hope they have someone competent playing the demo. Not scripted of course, but I just don't want to watch someone stumble around the same area forever trying to climb up a box.

kinda assume anyone paying attention for the last decade and a half will be thinking this too, yeah...hyped, bur going in simply hoping for slightly more 3rd party love than what little we got with the WU...i'd be happy with GC levels, honestly

Yeah, that's pretty much what we should be expecting. It's unfortunate, but it is realistic. Nintendo fans know this to be true, but they understandably hope for better.

In that some people have such a limited scope of games they find interesting and can't get out of the "OMG Nintendo magic!!!" mode?

I agree.

KT:
Berserk Musou

Bethesda:
Prey 2
Dishonored 2

EA:
Mass Effect
BF1
Mirror's Edge 2

MS:
Forza Horizon
Scalebound

Ubisoft:
South Park

You can obviously disagree with the games I'm interested in, but please explain to me how this means I'm stuck in some kind of OMGNINTENDO mode or have a limited taste in games.

Just ignore that type of nonsense.

Methinks it'll be a brief 5/10 minute intro, then Pokemon for the rest of the hour, followed by the Zelda blowout - they'll keep people on the stream as long as poss before the big reveal!

You mean no Zelda during that intro? I see what you're saying but that seems a dangerous game, just in the sense people could get annoyed and tune out. Also, I'd be surprised if they showed quite that much Pokémon.

No, that's a good spread of games. I thought you were going for more of a "Nintendo isn't showing much so E3 is a complete bust" kind of thing, which I've seen quite a few people say around here and it astounds me. Especially considering Nintendo's most recent E3 haven't been anything insanely groundbreaking.

But yeah, good spread of games.

You're right

All that's been said:

Tune in starting at 9 a.m. PT to see the Pokémon™ Sun and Pokémon Moon games in action, followed by the world’s first in-depth look at the new Legend of Zelda™ game. The day will continue with livestreamed gameplay and behind-the-scenes info from the game experts of Nintendo Treehouse—live and unscripted from the show floor.

Then be sure to come back for a second day of livestreaming, starting at 10 a.m. PT on June 15. The day will start with a special Pokémon GO developer Q&A session. Then Nintendo Treehouse: Live will showcase upcoming games such as Monster Hunter Generations, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE.

They will show a Zelda trailer and we get Zelda gameplay for 2-3 hours with developer commentary. Thennnn Pokemon stuff with developer commentary.

Ya - I think defo quite a bit of Pokémon, perhaps a little Zelda tease beforehand, then the full dedicated Zelda trailer & sesh - site says Pokemon first

...You had to submit your whole list of games you were interested in just to prove you weren't just into Nintendo games and get that approval

smh

When Ubisoft only announces a casual game for NX....
3rd-party support will be bad...

"If it makes sense"

Considering Just Dance sells well on Nintendo platforms, those are the kinds of games to expect. I think Devs are past the point of announcing "Armored Editions" and stuff that won't sell to Nintendo fans.

agreed. it's why, of the big 3, nintendo's the primary one i feel safe supporting day 1: even if no one else shows up - and god, it felt that way sometimes this gen - i know there'll be more than enough first-party goodness for me to spend a while catching up on & enjoying. stuff like Eternal Darkness, the Capcom 5 etc were just icing on the cake.

you know what would really have helped with this problem of theirs? an alternate reality where they were able to acquire Rare during its prime & keep their talent. look at that N64 era, where they went toe-to-toe on karts, platformers etc, while providing excellent fighters, shooters, and whatever awesome genre Blast Corps is! goddamn, talk about rounding off a catalog.

What do you reckon will be the very first thing we'll see on the new footage?

I think it will be a close up of Link rock climbing, and the camera will pan around to show the full scale of the world once he reaches the top.

You know

As more and more hype builds around Scorpio and Neo as the months go by

A new Nintendo console launching in March 2017 that is about on par with PS4 or Xbone is going to feel underwhelming as fuuuuuuuuuuck

As with every gen cycle, I keep telling myself it's all about the games. Yup. That's how I get by. :/

Eh, PS4 level with a legitimately cool gimmick would be acceptable. But that's me being optimistic honestly.

Peer outside the GAF bubble and see how people are reacting to these machines.

A common trend seems to be, "so you mean this PS4/X1 I just got for Christmas is soon to be obsolete?"

I haven't seen hype except for on here.

Pretty much my response to the scorpio confirmation earlier to my friends was "Well, Nintendo is fucked for another gen when they announce the (at best) PS4 level NX, aren't they"

Yes, this was the conversation peeps were having when the rumors of the 4K/1.5 surfaced some months ago.

I'll still be in, but (and I feel sorta dirty right now typing this) I kinda agree.

Maybe it's just the e3 hype, and not like we didn't know the leaked info already. So I'll admit I could just be riding e3 feels.

After watching all the fillers (CG trailers, promos, that Alex hunter thing etc) in the streams so far, I am looking forward to Nintendo stream.

Why couldn't the other companies make things to the point like Nintendo directs?

Will power even matter if Nintendo games don't even shot for realistic graphics?

I'm part of the minority that doesn't get impressive with realistic graphics tho.

We'll have a better feel when we actually start seeing NX stuff.

There's much more than good graphics you can do with great power. AI and physics for example.
