It is a competition though. A competition in the media, a competition among consumers for perceived value. Just like it was a competition between PS4 and Wii U and despite being a hardcore Nintendo fan I had to choose PS4 because my money and time was limited and PS4 was the better choice.

I picked up a Wii U when it went on sale and had more time, but the competition was there. If Horizon and Zelda U come out within 3 months of each other, you'd best believe they'll be competing for my time and money.

Part of the issue is the difference between Zelda fans who are all about the dungeons and those who are all about overworld exploration. I'm the latter type, which is why TLoZ, OoT, MM are my favourites. Great overworlds. And TP, with its awesome dungeons and dull overworld did so little for me.

They need to nail overworld gameplay, and enemy encounters within it.

While I don't disagree with you, Zelda being a NX launch title changes things a bit. Should pretty much guarantee that it has great mindshare with the fans/media.

Gameplay, It will forever be gameplay for me, I don't want a cut up nonsense trailer filled with an experience I will certainly not get. I want a perspective of the experience to expect so I can tailor my expectations accordingly.

Yeah, I have little confidence that Nintendo will deliver anything. Dedicating their entire E3 to a Zelda treehouse stream, shows a bit of laziness on their part, either that or they really think they have a winner with the NX (I'll be surprised if it does great business honestly), and feel they don't need to release it, just yet.

That being said, I am looking forward to the new Zelda game. Should be a fun viewing experience, at least.

Just bought a New 3DS and haven't played a Pokémon since Ruby/Sapphire. Fair to say I'm interested in seeing the new games and whether it'll be worth jumping back into the series.
