Nintendo stock reaches all time high. 95 billion dollar company valuation. 14 billion dollar cash. NO DEBT. Which studio should they buy???

They don't need studios. They only need 1 person.

The Man(?), The Myth, The Legend... The Professor
I choose to believe you're talking about Money Heist because the alternative is too painful

They should buy Shinen Studios ASAP. And probably MercurySteam

what did Shinen Studio make?

Nintendo rarely buy Western studio, if anything they've been shrinking their Western footprints, limited to marketing, testing, and localization. Collaboration/Contracting may be, but not outright buy.

Fast, the touryst, the art of balance. Almost all their games are Nintendo exclusives except the Touryst. But they are wizards with the Nintendo hardware, a new FZero game made by them could be amazing.

They talked about how they can be really selective about which studios they buy. Read: we have a lot of money, but we aren't rich enough to spend $70 billion.

Bungie or maybe create a completely new studio, make Jade Raymond the director and give her infinite money to develop anything she wants.

I think that Microsoft and Apple are the only companies than can afford a move like that… Probably Tencent too.

I really like M2 and think they could do a lot with Nintendo's back catalogue, but that would stop the great work they've being doing for other publishers.

In general I don't support acquisitions unless the developers have a long history with Nintendo like GoodFeel, Grezzo, or Shinen.

They could buy some of their partner studios, but only if they want to be bought.

Investing in EPD is the right move.

They bought Next Level Games and Shiver in the last few years, and NST is bigger than they used to be.

So I wouldn't say they are shrinking their Western footprint.

I think Level-5 would be a good fit. They make smaller scale games for Japanese first audience. Have bunch of AA franchises and a variety of IP.

Given some Nintendo guidance and support, they could even bring back Yokai Watch franchise.

The path for Sony console is pretty predictable, more power and speed.
Where would Nintendo go from here. I think they have finally settled on the form factor with Switch and just keeps adding power in a smaller screen which should be cheaper.

Next battle would be cloud gaming in a decade or two for sure where Nintendo might just fail or stick to their guns.
More and more I'm convinced (perhaps incorrectly) that new Nintendo management (very different from past management) could eventually decide to slowly dip their toes in the PC market. Not with new games, but like Sony has done the last few years with first-party games launching on their hardware first, then to PC a year or two later. There's such an undeniable market there. If Switch 2 install doesn't reach the same level of Switch 1, it may force their hand in order to justify spending $100 million on developing a single game (imagining TotK was near this level, no doubt some Switch 2 games are near this too… Mario Kart World, next Animal Crossing, next Smash, next 3D Mario, etc).

Even Nintendo can't be blind to the fact that in essence Microsoft is right, that the industry is slowly hurtling towards complete platform agnostification. Whether there's a theoretical Switch 3 in 2032 that has games on it that cannot be played on another platform is honestly an open question, at this point.

MercurySteam. The developer is capable of making great games(Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow, Metroid: Dread), but they need guidance. Monolith Soft needed Nintendo as well. I keep telling you guys that MercurySteam should do a remake of Zelda 2.

Grezzo is also an easy pick.
A remake of Adventure of Link? Who the fuck wants that lol?

I have no doubt PlayStation Studios would produce more quality games and be much more productive under Nintendo
Their fundamental philosophy on the approach to game development are completely opposite. So it's not something that would happen, to the point that even a hypothetical is outside the realm of possibility.

LOL. Yeah, I would definitely question who was running NCL if they had any debt, given their current balance sheet.

Switch has been their most profitable business ever, by far. Far eclipsing the DS/Wii era, which in hindsight was actually quite short-lived and caused a lot of negative domino effect for them from 2010-2016, which they finally cured with Switch.

I think with costs skyrocketing as they have been, Switch 2 will make them a lot of money, but I don't think they'll be as profitable during the Switch 2 generation as they were from 2017-2024. If they plan on remaining as profitable as before by selling games for $80 instead of $60-$70, I think the volume decline in software sales they would see would absolutely wipe out the price increase.

off topic...
if you'd invested $1,000 in Nvidia stock five years ago, you'd have more than $14,500 today.
if Invested in Nintendo, you would have $2200.
not really a meme stock.

PlayStation Studios
I personally think they should buy From Soft majority stake from Kadokawa

For comparison:

Sony is worth 155 billion market cap. 12.3 billion dollar cash, but with 29.5 billion dollar debt
The important thing you aren't mentioning is that Sony makes over $90B in revenue and over $7B in profits per year, plus have a ton of valuable assets.

These are some of the main reasons of why Sony is valuated over 50% more than Nintendo.

If desired they could sell something and get rid of the debt or get more profit in the short term. But they don't, they prefer to invest in the long term to have in the future higher revenue and profits.

As an example they announced that will sell around 80% of their Financial Services this fall, and said that will spend this cash mostly on acquisitions mostly for their entertainment divisions (not in getting more profits or getting rid of the debt).

Just start a new studio for games as a service. I hear Jade Raymond has some free time.
I'd say that with GaaS like Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing or Splatoon they already have enough.
