Nintendo Switch is out in less than two weeks. Where's all the info?

I wonder what the noise levels are. It's a pretty compact thing pushing more power than any prior Nintendo system, handheld or console. And we've only seen people play it at loud events.

I'm just interested in the VC and online. I don't think we will hear about either before release but... With Puyo Puyo Tetris out before the online app comes out I really want to know how its online will work. Will we be able to play with friends for example? Or is that something you need the app to do?

Question: Assuming you can buy just the dock in near future. is it possible to buy several docks and use them with only one switch or is the console itself tied to a dock?

i.e: you have 3 docks and one switch. one dock is in the living room, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. can you play use all docks with that one switch?

This system is just begging for a version of Diablo 3. BEGGING! Gimme that Diablo 3 mobile Blizzard!

this
plus they should add "Diablo 1"(PS version) and "Diablo 2" (would make it the first D2 console version) and charge full price

some sort of Diablo Trilogy

I think the dock just serves as a way to output your signal to the TV. There's no info stored on it so you can have as many docks as you wish.

I starting to think the Switch will launch without any VC content whatsoever and they won't even talk about it. Needless to say that would be unacceptable seeing how the original Wii had VC in 2006.

Get your shit together, Nintendo.

Fucking 300$ for an underpowered system with no games.
That's all the info i need

Fanboy talk?

The system is 10x what vita was, so i don't know what you're talking about an underpowered system. 61 games in development that we know from.

Please go play some more mobile games.

If the answers to the questions everybody has were positive, don't you think Nintendo would have told us by now? It feels like there's going to be disappointment on the way.

Nintendo aren't going to announce VC at launch cuz of the backlash, you know they are going to make you buy games you already purchased on your 3DS/Wii U/Wii, and probably double the price because now you're paying for a home console and mobile version together!

They're hoping we'll be so enamored with Zelda we'll be willing to ignore all of the other lapses in how this launch has been handled.

They're probably right.

I was wondering. The switch is capable of VR but the resolution will make the experience blurry.

But is it possible to recreate NES/SNES/Wii games in VR?

Yeah, you guys - stop asking perfectly reasonable questions!

"What are the options in the settings menu" is not a reasonable question. They already did everything short of show you the Online app and tell you the minutia of the hardware. There is a long tradition of console developers not detailing the hardware. People are confusing not having anything more to say with secrecy just so they can say "Nintendos being Nintendo".

So not worth it

I have to agree, they gave out pretty much what you'd expect to know. All the functionality, the launch games and launch window schedule, they invited tons of people (gaming press/youtube personalities/etc) for the launchday demonstration and YT is full with impressions.

And then they send Switches out to pretty much every one of those people, so expect a fuckton of videos detailing the OS and hardware to hit by tonight.

I don't think we'll see a VC until the fall, so while I understand people wanting info for that, I'm afraid you won't be getting that for another few months. The people expecting Wii U shop transfers are probably shit out of luck, at least the Switch finally has an account link, about time on that.

This doesn't make it okay.

I suppose I should clarify: I mean more in the sense that I don't understand why anyone built up this expectation of it near-certainly coming at launch when Nintendo never said anything to indicate so, and their track record in the last generation says otherwise. Yes it should definitely be there and it sucks that it isn't, but they never misled anyone by indicating it would be there and it shouldn't be a big surprise from Nintendo.

Of course, maybe it magically appears out of nowhere in the last week here and I'll have to eat my words, but doubtful...

This VC obsession is weird. I love VC, I'm sure it'll eventually be launched on the Switch, I don't expect it to be there at launch. I'm not sure why that's hard to understand, or why Nintendo HAS to come out and officially say there's no VC at launch. Like, as a consumer, how is this a huge issue for you?

1) Assume there is no VC at launch because there was no VC at launch for the last two systems Nintendo released.

2) If VC is an important factor determining your system purchase, wait for an announcement before buying.

3) Relax.

This isn't a defense of Nintendo being unable to get their shit together. This is just smart consumerism. If it matters to you, always assume the worst and make cautious purchases. Unless a company specifically say something is included, it is probably not included.

I would just like a timeframe for when I can throw more money at Nintendo. Is that really so much to ask?

And I want to know if and when I'm getting portable Gamecube dammit.

Looking at how the Switch is a barebones launch with no details on the online service, no fixed dates for the roll outs, and no clarification for the mobile app services.... yes, I think it's too much to ask right now, lol!

Diablo 1 and 2 are close to my favourite games of all time but I disagree here. If any blizzard game seems purpose built for the switch it's hearthstone and I don't even like the game.

They have confirmed VC games as part of the Online Service.

I may have missed something Reggie said, as I don't really care about NoA, but the website calls it "Monthly Game Download" and Nintendo(the one in Japan) calls it "classic software". This may or may not be VC, if the games have been modified and run on the switch natively to accommodate online, I would not call them VC.

Don't get me wrong, I think there will be VC, and hope so cause I still often play classic games, but I don't take unannounced features as a given. I've been burnt too many times.

Reggie does refer to it as Virtual Console content:
Wired.com said:
Nintendo's online service for Switch will charge a monthly fee and one of the incentives is one free classic game ”per month." Does that mean you lose access to that game after a month?

Reggie Fils-Aime: Correct. It means that essentially you've got access to that game for a period of time, and then after the month there's a new selection. You'll have the opportunity to buy it, but [after] that month we've moved on to another game.

I think it would be helpful maybe to step back. Because I think it's important there's an understanding of the bigger vision. The bigger vision is that we are going to provide an overall online service, subscription-based, that not only will capture the multiplayer opportunity, but also the voice chat capability that we're going to provide through a global app. We think that that's just as important as access to Virtual Console content.

Best surprise announcement for me at this point would be a Mario game on launch via VC. And by a Mario game I mean Super Mario Galaxy. And by Super Mario Galaxy VC I mean an Mario Galaxy HD Remaster Collection. For 100€. I don't care. I want it.

Sounds pretty much like VC to me, even if they don't call it VC anymore:
Subscribers will get to download and play a Nintendo Entertainment System or Super Nintendo Entertainment System game (with newly-added online play) for free for a month.

I doubt there will be anything online going on at launch. Is there even a game on launch that supports online multiplayer? The most we will get is an eShop...

VC on Switch probably isn't going to be a thing EVER outside of the monthly free subscription game that you can pay for and keep playing after its time in the monthly rotation is over.

We'll get one a month. We won't get anything outside of that. We'll have to pay for it once the month is over to keep it. We will have no access to our back catalogs. The End.

Maybe, however I recommend not getting hopes up.

Not sure about the rest of the world, but in Japan there are at least 3 that support online at launch.

This is very possible.

It's obvious that VC isn't ready for launch. No biggie. But keeping quiet on the OS and eShop, especially when one of them has been leaked, is nothing short of insane. We don't even know for sure if existing eShop vouchers with 3DS/Wii U branding will work (though they probably will).

You can buy a dock by itself at launch. Yes, you can take any switch and put it in any dock and it just works.
