Nintendo Switch is out in less than two weeks. Where's all the info?

Another thing is that GAF is a different beast than most consumers. Many people don't care about this stuff. They will buy it, get home and follow the on-screen prompts and get to playing Zelda and whatever other games they bought.

Point being, to us a pre lunch direct matters. To the majority of consumers it doesn't.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Nintendo GAF keeps telling me Nintendo has time and they are gonna tell me all the shit I want/need to know like virtual console.

They told me this 6 weeks out. Then 4 weeks out. Now we are 10 days out.

Let's face it. We know what we know. The rest Nintendo either doesn't have figured out yet or doesn't want to talk about it.

Is what it is at this point.

None of this stuff bothers me. I'm sure it will be fine.

Here's what I needed to know:

1. When's it coming out?
2. How much is it?
3. Is Zelda launching the same day?

They provided answers for that and it was all I needed to make purchasing decision. I'm sure it will be online and you'll sign in with your NNID or Nintendo UserID. The eShop will be up Day 1, I'm sure. Virtual Console will come eventually and there will be discounts if you owned the titles on a previous platform (maybe just Wii U). I don't need to know every little thing about every game system, game, or movie before it comes out. The Switch will play Nintendo games. If that's not enough for you then you probably won't be happy with the system anyway honestly because that's what it will be for.

Those on GAF who bought the Switch and Zelda are going to do just that though. All this does is buy the time between now and Friday of next week. Not much to do in between then but speculate and request an answer for every single possible question we could have.

Super Bomberman R has online play. Just Dance 2017 also has access to its online library streaming service from day 1 (allegedly), though that's not the same thing.

Yep, there will be the Just Dance Unlimited service with an exclusive song and we also have an online co-op mode. I know y'all don't care but i work on the JD team so lol

I can't help but feel I know everything I need to know.

The Nintendo Switch is a tablet that can be played as a handheld or connected to a television. The controls are detachable and double as two individual controllers or in tandem as one gamepad. A Pro Controller is available. It plays games via cartridges purchased at retailers.

For me that's all I need. Everything else is incidental.

I understand your concern. Nintendo is absolutely committed to provide gamers all around the world with a great experience from day one. Pre-order now to guarantee a chance to play The Legend of Zelda™: Breath of the Wild™ on your televison screen, or wherever you would like it using the new Nintendo Switch™, starting at 299.99$ on selected retailers across the country.

VC is obviously not at launch so they will talk about it closer to whenever they launch it, mobile app we arent even sure when it launches, as for the online service thats not until fall plenty of time for them to give information out on plus nintendo confirmed from the start that we would get information about it sometime after launch.
The thing that bugs me about the Virtual Console is that they haven't even bothered to say it won't be there at launch. I mean it's obvious it won't be since they've said bugger all about it and it wasn't there at launch for the 3DS and Wii U, but at least with those two console they actually said it wouldn't be there (3DS launched with no eShop at all and on Wii U the VC was added a few months later)

For me, aside from Zelda and MK8 Deluxe, the only two games I'm forward to on Switch in H1 2017 are:

These will both be digital only (AFAIK).

And this was a mistake. Imagine all the reactions on gaf and youtube. You don't want to kill the hype.

I find it unbelievable that they couldn't have some first party Virtual Console games ready for launch. It just baffles the hell out of me. I get not launching with some robust library right away as well as third party titles due to licensing and shit, but there's no excuse for them to not have a few first party games ready. It would also help have more content at launch even if they're just old games.

Sure, I agree. I'm still hoping for GC VC. But if it's not there at launch you better keep it under wraps.
There is so much hate and trolling on the internet nowadays. VC will come but it's not the reason why I'm buying the Switch.

The lack of VC info is aggravating. I really hope Nintendo isn't planning to use those online-enabled NES/SNES games as an excuse to postpone a more substantial VC offering until later. They need to announce a retro joycon with a real d-pad for handheld mode, too.

Not all that surprising when you realize the launch is being rushed. The software side is not ready at all. The hardware was finalized too late in the game so they didn't do much past the absolute minimum in software. This explains the barebone OS and the lack of streaming apps, a browser and, decidedly, VC. This is not to mention the full-scale NEX that won't launch for another 6 months. And of course the general lack of games.

This thing should have launched in Fall but it was decided that a soft launch of sorts would be better.

But we have enough games during the next weeks and until E3?
And we don't know anything about the OS or the VC. There is no lack of games. This is not like the WiiU or 3DS where you had software droughts after launch. I have no idea what you're talking about ^^

There's no explicit confirmation but there's pretty good evidence:
First, 3DS and WiiU share the same eShop cards. Second, there's this this:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1344533&highlight=eshop
Third, you can transfer your 3DS and WiiU wallets to switch
http://dystify.com/Overview/contents/Pages/Page_105383775.html
Fourth, the Switch will continue to use the eShop and it would make no sense to make Switch specific eShop cards.

They're focused on selling consoles to Zelda fan slice of the market. Zelda has a release date. No other pros or cons matter to those people so what else is there to say?

I'm glad to be getting it now, Zelda should satisfy me for a while I just hope that after launch they really buckle down and get some of this stuff ready to go. I just feel like this hybrid setup with the smaller tablet screen would be so ace for Virtual Console games and surely it wouldn't have taken much effort to get at least a handful of VC games out there for launch.

Most consumers buying at launch are the core fanbase anyway unless the system is a crazy phenomenon. The people you want to buy at launch are the people that should be informed. Of course it doesn't matter for the first few weeks because supplies have already been allocated.

They do, they just don't want to admit it. It's why you get people mansplaining that "this information is out there, you guys just aren't listening" and then they'll each post a slightly different list of "facts" that are apparently common knowledge yet somehow manage to differ between each poster.

At this point all I can say is this: Nobody buying at launch, nobody who's excusing this lack of information this close to launch gets to complain when this stuff finally hits. You made your bed, you made your excuses, you live with it, good or bad.

Your closing lines really made me laugh for some reason, seems like real serious business being discussed.

Yep. I reckon Nintendo is just concerned releasing this info early will result in some negative backlash online from us vocal minority here on GAF and elsewhere. Remember the bulky gamer headset comments to justify voice chat through your phone? Haven't heard anything about this since.
