No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

The one thing I hope could possibly be changed in patches going forward is the ability to fly a bit closer to the surface. I get why landing has to be an automatic process, but I'd love to be able to get a bit closer to the ground before initiating it.
oh bummer, I was hoping to skim the ground with my ship, because the closer you get to the ground the faster it feels like you're going.

Just started up again after the patch. Yup, still 30fps.

Which begs the question...

...why did someone apparently employed by Sony and referring to them selves as "That No Man's Sky Guy" tell us that?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe someone's been playing on the Neo with NMS VR :3

I am so triggered lol. Almost 3 PM and no movement, unless they ship it overnight or this evening.

Lol, right there with you. Still nada. How it went from allegedly shipping on the 5th to, "Hey man, we like, it's shipping soon... M'kay?", I've no clue.

I will never get tired of coming up on massive planets and actually being able to enter the atmosphere and land anywhere. It will be one of those classic gaming moments that I will never forget and have only dreamed about up until now.

Nice, that seems pretty decent imo. Was it the the LE? I was actually wondering how you fared earlier and if you picked it up I was going to go try too.

Nah, regular copy. I swear my BB always has the most screwed up stuff going on there, but can't be the discounts haha

Also, confirmed anything you destroy or alter, will be there, even years later when you go back to that planet.

That is what they said. Also said, "Mind Blown!" after.

Locally only, I imagine. Still very, very impressive tech.

I cant imagine playing this without a controller. I want to be sitting back and enjoying myself in a chill game like this. Not hunched over a desk with a keyboard. That sounds horrible.

That was cool.

Wake me up when it's Friday please...

I cant imagine not playing this without a controller. I want to be sitting back and enjoying myself in a chill game like this. Not hunched over a desk with a keyboard. That sounds horrible.

Not if you're a lifelong PC gamer it doesn't.

Just a starter ship that gets you up and running a little quicker. Streamers have said it maybe saves you an hour or so?

I'm getting that with my physical preorder, but I'm not gonna use the code. I want that initial struggle to get off the first planet and get going, that's part of the experience.

Yep. Steam Big Picture mode for me, a comfy couch, and a lovely new 360 controller.

Disappointed that the space combat explosions still look simplistic. Particle effects that look straight out of a PS2 game. Ah well.
They just need to add that shockwave ring like from Colony Wars. It looks so good and is so simple. Everspace does it and it just looks incredible.

60fps in space, 30fps on ground maybe?

Nope, same everywhere. Very stable, but 30.

I don't have an issue with the PS4 game being 30, but to come in and say that in a thread where people were deciding between getting the PS4 version and the PC version isn't a great look.

The stream realllly highlighted all the different variables that can go into what decisions you want to make or do at any given point.

Like, lets say you just want to maximize your experience on some new planet. It's hot, and lots of good resources are on it.

You could just focus on first getting materials to upgrade your armour to specifically be tough against the heat, or upgrade your tool to be reallllly good at carving out caves/breaking into them and just focus on mining underground. If there are lots of aggressive creatures you need to be prepared by upgrading your weapon, or just spend time befriending them and find one that will be your body guard. You could figure out what sells good in the area, maybe find a plant-bound trading post and make trips around for a little while and make a crapload of money. Then, but that 1.2mil credit ship with all the baller inventory and built in upgrades that stops off at the trade depot.

Maybe now this ship is already overflowing with combat upgrades and has a lot of room - so you're like "you know what, I'm gonna go fuck up some convoys" and just be a pirate for a little while.

Or maybe instead the planet is cold and full of life, no minerals and lots of 'quest' interactions.

Well, I guess we can say Sean's not the best person to do these kinds of streams. :) I mean I can listen to the rambling and some tech talk but I'm not sure he painted the best picture on what the game is. The streamers do a much better job at that simply because they're just normally playing the game instead of trying to point out certain things or controlling the systems in some way in order to show a feature.

Really glad about seeing some improved stuff, the terrain generation, permanent holes in rocks etc.

A solid stable 30 is very playable. Its the frequent dips, even to something like 25 fps that people get upset about it. When the frame rate changes rapidly its very noticeable and annoying imo.

Games like Uncharted 4 where its 30, but a solid 30, run amazingly well.

The thing is, some of these guys worked on the Burnout series. If anyone should be able to do cool explosions, it's them!

Perhaps they wanted to keep things simple for a future VR version down the road... but then again, if they can only get it to run at 30fps on PS4, I doubt we'll ever see a PSVR version.
