So should we not redeem the pre-order ship until after we build a hyperdrive then?

I redeemed it before I built the hyperdrive (and advise against it as it is basicly cheating), but I am pretty sure I just received the Hyperdrive blueprint anyway in an outpost on my starting planet

Offcourse, if you sell your ship for one without a hyperdrive before you actually get the blueprint, you're fucked.

Played for a couple of hours last night and had a great time. I am have my ship all fueled up to go to a new star system but I am kicking around and looking at my current one. Game made me go start reading Ian M. Banks again.

I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but what's the best way to "Discover" flying wildlife? I think I have one animal left to catalog on the planet I'm on, as when I see it flying it has a red dot on it. But it doesn't stop flying long enough for me to scan it.

You can try zooming in, but that didn't help me, I couldn't get a bead on them for the life of me.

Made a big reddit post about the game-breaking bug that has to with you redeeming the pre-order ship at the wrong time resulting in you missing out on the hyper drive blueprint, eventually leaving the player stranded: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyT...reaking_bug_redeeming_the_preorder_ship_at_a/

Hopefully it gets attention on there and eventually Hello Games sees it.

Fuck me, glad I read this thread.

Couple hours down the drain. Not that big of a deal, but still, I was fond of my starting planet and discoveries. :(

Still on the zinc note, think it's possible to find some in caves or buy some off an npc/ galactic trade terminal if I find one on the planet? If not...I might have to restart...

I had difficulty on my starting planet too. I came across one of those abandoned stations and one of the containers gave me enough zinc for me to get started. It is possible to buy it off an NPC/Trade terminal if you find one though.

Fucking hell. Post finally arrived, 4 hours later than normal. Knocked at the door as there was a parcel too big for the letter box... Only it was for the wife. No game for me today.

First and last time I will be purchasing from GAME.

Someone was asking a ways back about forests. I give you Alaska Prime.

Played for another 3 hours, still havent found the hyperdrive/antimatter blueprints from the DLC ship tutorial bug. May be deleting my save... after a full day of work. :(
You should just buy antimatter and craft the hyperdrive. That's how I got past that part. Eventually you will find the blueprint on the next warp most likely.

Kill it, then scan it

Fuck it, I might have to buy this. Just have to finish up Hitman, if I can wait that is haha.

Edit: How long will it take before someone finds a planet/animal namned Amirox is a ____?

I absolutely love planets w grassy fields. They've done an amazing job with that. The way the grass sways. And not to mention the smoke effects. Man this game is gorgeous to look at

Wait....

There are people who bought NMS because they thought it's a big multiplayer game?!

I can get that "can I meet another player eventually"-irritation, that was poorly communicated and maybe doesn't work at the moment, but.... Multiplayer?

Is the 1.03 update downloading really really slow for anyone else? It is going to take 6 hours on a 100 mbps connection wtf.

Just like buying Titanfall and expecting single player.

I'm going for a utility based naming convention. I name the systems something I think sounds cool but then the planets are called stuff like Goldrush (if a lot of gold) for example and the first planet I land on in each system will be Arrival I, Arrival II and so on which would allow me to get my bearings if I ever returned.

I would get lost otherwise!

heres a video that has the clip at the end if you wanna here the words come outta his mouth directly...

This was an interview where he was forced to say only "Yes", or "No".

And he probably went with yes because they are looking into multiplayer and maybe getting it sorted after launch perhaps, rather than outright saying No you won't be able to.

And saying "Will you be able to play with friends" is a super vague question in itself anyway.

Anyway, game is awesome. I'm really loving exploring every new planet I come across. But man, some of these planets are freakin brutal. Came across a heavily irradiated one that felt like I was in the Glowing Sea from Fallout 4 at all times.

My starting planet is like this. :/
Really put the pressure on playing smart to survive. In hindsight it was a really cool experience to open with, but a brutal intro to the game. Haven't even left the planet yet, to be honest (about 4 hours in).

Hope the next planet I find is a bit more welcoming. :}

"Can see you see other players?" "Yes."

"Can you play with your friends?" "Yes."

Stop kidding yourself, these things were said and they're not there.
Did one of the players trying to meet up have NAT restrictions? Yes
Where the servers all over the place? Yes
Are you trying to make a stupid conclusion of one instance? Absolutely!

From Reddit:
Players: So why can't we see other players in game?
Sean: Wow theres so many of you playing!
Players: Yeah Sean, but wh-
Sean: Amazing! staring into space in amazement

This game needs to be in vr. Simple as that. Amazing amazing amazing game. 6 hours just flew by last night. Thank you Hello Games.

I was able to find Zinc via certain plants. They are not super abundant, on my first two planets, but a little exploration should find some in a reasonable amount of time.

Yeah after about 40 hours of playtime, it seems that every planet has Plutonium, Carbon, Iron, Heridium, Thamium9, Platinum, and Zinc, those last three in the form of plants. Scarcity varies widely, but they're always there somewhere. As a result, it seems impossible to get stranded.

Forgive me GAF, for I have ventured into the Wrong Man's Sky thread.

Still holding on for that PC copy. Soooon!

Should be preload today or tomorrow right?

Yesterday i was ready to pre-order the game, but now i'm not so sure. It seems that for every positive reaction, there's also an negative one. Fans of the game claim there are many different planets and describe an addictive gameplay loop, while the skeptics describe a game with a lot of planets that look a like, with gameplay that gets boring really fast.

I've waited al long time for this game and I know that if this was €30,- game i would've bought it by now. But the €60,- price tag is making me hesitant. It doesn't help that all the first impression pieces i've read on sites like gamespot don't really tell me anything new.

I guess i'm still waiting for someone to convince me what makes this game worth it.

Bought a new ship to replace the Alpha Vector. Looks really cool. I'm not a fan of ships that don't look like ships, but this looks like the Alpha Vector on steroids.

Day 3 with the game.

No crashes so far (touch wood)
Got aggro from a random animal and then set upon by the sentinels, found a cave and hid away, only for the sentinels to get pissed off and call for back up, first encounter with an bipedal sentinel. Nasty things.

Found as time goes on inventory management fades to the background and is just second nature.

Loving it and can see me playing this for a long time to come.

Can't wait to see what else they add.

I redeemed the Pre-Order ship immediately and didn't get stuck. The tutorial mission resumed once I bought a ship without a hyper drive. When you have the new ship, use your scanner in space and a marker should pop up directing you to an alien who will give your the first ingredient.

I've read this but haven't found what your supposed to do instead? when am i safe to redeem the codes?

He went on to say yes when asked if you could grief other players in game...Nothing unlcear about the question or answer IMO. If he did say yes because the feature is intended down the road, he should have said that. All of Seans answers to questions like this have been intentionally vague and thats why he has been asked in several different ways.... (ways like "are you able to play with friends")... because he has consistently failed to have any clear answer to these types of questions, they always include the universe being so big and the chances being so unlikely...perhaps the feature itself does not exist...who knows at this point, because he continues to refuse to provide any clear answer.

Pretty much. You need to go through the tutorial of building the hyperdrive and get the blueprint for it.

That's not true. I just did some of the tutorial this morning with the preorder ship and it still leads you to getting the blueprint for the hyperdrive.

Starting planet was severely acidic and completely covered in hostile Sentinels.

It was a 5 minute walk from ship to most required minerals, plutonium only found in caves, very limited vegetation. Barely made it back to my ship with completely busted life support,
and told the glowing orb to go fuck itself. I don't trust orbs.

Killed a dozen sentinels in the first two hours and now I'm off to be a pirate.

I like how even when playing as a space asshole, this game is incredibly chill.

Quick question;

How much of your time playing this game is spent in space? As in, how organic is the sense of discovering new planets, locations, systems or ships?

Do you spend a decent amount of time in space and come across new stuff on the fly, or does the game essentially railroad you into the "next" system along via a quick travel lightspeed type system?

Right so, played for a short period of time, and will be playing more, but here is my take so far.

World - Interesting and varied. I like what I have seen so far, but I feel a little lost. I expect I should though, considering I am thrown into a vast space with innumerable paths to go down. If it was a so fixed path, it would ruin a lot of the game imo. Haven't seen a lot of planets yet, but they are huge and remind me of alien places, as they should. I've found space stations and outposts, but am not sure if I should find bigger places later and should know this now or have it as an, intentional, surprise.

Inventory - It isn't so much that I constantly run out of room, and I do, but that I am confused as to what matters to keep. While it is somewhat simple to just sell items, especially higher out of norm priced items, I am always worried I am selling something I might have a hard time finding later. I like finding recipes to make items, but needing to occupy inventory space to hold sub-materials and final crafted items, it reduces space super quick and you have so little to begin with.

Items - It is unclear if I am doing something wrong here, but I made several items for my ship; Pulse Beam, Canon Damage Sigma, and Pulse Jet Sigma. Each takes up a precious inventory spot on the ship. The Sigma items mention improving existing items, but it is frustrating they use an inventory spot doing this, why not have them combine with the item they upgrade? Both my starting ship weapon and the Pulse Beam say use X to fire. My photon canon is described as a ship to ship weapon, and the beam as a mining weapon and ship weapon. Do I get rid of one or have both and can cycle through them? Same type of stuff with the suit. I made a stamina enhancement for sprint, but it takes up a slot again. I can't help but feel the game needs dedicated inventory spots and dedicated gear/ship slots. It would remove a lot of confusion and maintain a balance as far as upgrading not costing ability to harvest/loot stuff. It would also help to have a better indication of gear quality. A short sentence or two hardly givs me an idea of what gun is better than another.

Alpha whatever things? From the first spot through pretty much most of them, places/containers are locked requiring this card thing. I don't see it explained what this is to me. Do I know what they are, do I know where to get them, or is it written someplace and I don't know what they are or where to get them as a game design choice? Should I go and get this first somehow, so as not to miss things in these places/objects?

Fuel use for gear and ship - I like that it is not unlimited, but maybe a little harsh. Might get better as I get more tech.

Overall, I like the game, and think it will really draw me in as I learn more. I feel a bit to confused right now. Not looking for a tutorial and book of answers, but feel I lack even basic knowledge a space traveler might have.

Press the triangle button to cycle between weapons. It's listed in the controller screen in the options.
