My favorite part is the cockpit. Easily the best one in the game since there is practically nothing obstructing your view. Look how much you can view when looking around.

Tomorrow I just need to set up all the blueprints in an orderly fashion for once and getting the rest of my milestones done. Then it's off to the center!

W...wait what... you can look around freely in the cockpit? Whats the button for that?!

And animals don't spawn in a single biome planet in set patterns in real life either.

I don't think it should be automatic, but I DO think there needs to be better tools to track down undiscovered species. As it stands, you basically have to scour land, cave, air and water both day and night in multiple locations to find everything. Because creature spawns are procedurally placed, we have no way of deducing where a given creature may spawn other than checking all the usual suspect areas I listed earlier. And do it over and over until you happen to stumble on the lucky spawn at the right time. Not an ideal system, but it wouldn't be so bad if we had better tools.

What I meant is discovering every species on a planet SHOULD be difficult. Like, 'scouring the entire planet difficult', just like in real life. Given that this portion is not a requirement of the game, I think the way they handled it is just fine.

That all said, I found all the species of a planet in under two hours. :)

Anyone have any tips for ship hunting? I keep getting sent to repeat locations, it's kinda frustrating.

Change the neighborhood. Fly to a completely different section of the planet and when that doesn't work anymore, change the whole damn planet.

Which actually reminds me to post this shot, which turned out to include my current, rather awesome ride:
j54rI8Z.png
This must the central Crashville or something, because if there are 3 crashes this close to each other, I don't want to know the planetary statistics.

Just found a way to change your ship's appearance. Simply buy a ship you like and reload your last save. Your current ship will now look like the one you bought. Don't know if it's permanent, though.
Should be permanent, or at least my ship never reverted back before I actually bought a new one once again and I did shut the game completely in between.

All you guys talk about getting to the center and I haven't even left my first system yet! Having trouble finding antimatter...

I made the mistake of loading my warp cell into my hyperdrive before I repaired it. When I completed the fix my drive was empty :(

I'll get there though :)

My question is, I remember right after release people getting to the center rather quickly with upgraded hyper drives etc.. Why is it now people are saying "weeks of warping all day long" is required? Different spawn points in the galaxy, patch change, difference in engine power... what?

Galaxy got way bigger with the day 1 patch. Also a lot of people don't want to keep hyperdriving for (real) days, it's just boring.

Guys and gals I'm after some help please!

I can't seem to get antimatter, I've had the hyperdrive fro some time, I've completed the 2 planets I'm at (for creatures) and have found loads of outposts etc. I've upgraded my suit to 20 slots and my ship is a 21 slot ship and I've got about 500k units - put around 12 hours in.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong :S

You get an antimatter recipe in the second system I think. Not sure if you will find antimatter for sale in the first system. Hopefully someone sells it though.

I'm guessing it was the patch. It seems a significant amount of the game.was finished that way. Originally Sean said it would take the average gamer 40-100 hours to reach the center. That seems extremely optimistic now.

Perhaps the early streamers pre patch were closer to the center. Not sure.

Try scanning the planets from space. An icon should appear that has the alien who will give you one antimatter I think. Been awhile though since I did it. But the scan from space should direct you to the outpost that has the alien giving away the solo antimatter

So I've one question that was probably answered a billion times. When I build upgrades for my exosuit like jetpack boost, shield extender and so on, do they really need to get linked together? I saw borders popping up when I put something +2 next to +1. Does that mean my 3 jetpacks upgrades have to be in one row to work? That would be bad cuz my upgrades are all over the place right now.

they will work anywhere, but organizing similar upgrades adjacent to each other will provide bonuses. you can get a huge boost if you organize your upgrades right

what? I assumed once I had the v3 upgrade I just replaced v2 - is that not correct?

Are you stuck like me? I just keep hoping to find someone selling it but so far no luck. I really don't want to restart but I guess I may have to eventually if I can't resolve this issue.

seems so, but might try the scanning from space trick suggested

nope, they stack, and its ideal that you use all of em if you have the space to spare. to be more specific, try to organize stuff in a line like theta > tau > sigma for the biggest bonus

Is there an "official" nomenclature for planets?

So far I renamed them to a somewhat matching reference or a cool name.
But now I started adding additional information.

Like so:

Shiva EC8_0A

Shiva= whatever I feel like naming the planet
E = added when there is extreme weather (L = low atmosphere)
C = cold (H= hot, R = radiation, T = toxic, N = normal)
8 = 0-9 scale for Flora
_ = standard Sentinel level (- = more aggressive, / = less aggressive)
0 = 0-9 scale for Fauna (0 = empty)
A = Aluminum (first letter of the seemingly most abundant non-standard element on the planet)

I assumed you already found the one antimatter but a glitch happened or something. If you haven't gotten the one antimatter from the alien, then scan from space. An outpost icon will appear on one of the planets. Go there and the alien will give it to you.

In the second system after you warp, you can scan from space and a manufacture plant icon will appear on one of the planets. Go there(you will have to bust the door open) and you get the ability to craft antimatter.

That's actually a great idea.

Finally got my third ship with 27 slots @ 3.2 mil. Took forever to find one that I could place upgrades next to shields/hyper/pulse drive. Weapons are isolated but don't care about them so much. I'll probably hang on to this one for a while until I find a gek planet. Still need to find more aluminum for my Tau warp drive.

Also between what people were selling at this trading post and what could be found around I was able to upgrade just about all my suit stuff to Theta level. Underwater, all elemental shields, regular shields, jump pack, health. I have more multi tool stuff that could be upgraded too.

I have it in my head that blueprints drop less if you don't have their prerequisites installed so hoping the remaining ones I need drop soon.

Eh. The only thing that's relevant from space is what minerals you can find, and if there's green ! items. Thus I go:

(Since my PSN is Articate)
Articus <SomeName> !EmAuNi

Denotes there are ! items, and you can find Emeril, Gold and Nickel. It's also pretty self-explanatory. Flora and fauna aren't relevant, since you can find carbon on non-flora planets, and even zinc and platinum, while other barren worlds don't have that, so it's not really a good indicator.

Ok I'm trying to get to the center of the Galaxy now. I've got all my warp drives stacked in row, but I'm still only getting about 400-500 light years per jump. I'm hearing about other people get 1500 light years per jump.

What am I missing here? Does your type of ship also impact how far you can jump?

You don't need to restart.
If nothing else works, the occasional alien will sell antimatter from the docking bay in the space station.

The exact same thing happened to me, I was stranded for a while.

Which ship upgrade/blueprint is used for allowing tracking with the plasma cannon? I've had it on a couple of ships but it always came with 'em.

Do the pulse drive upgrades not stack? Do we need all of them installed or just the highest one? I'm not seeing a bonus like the hyperdrive And beams

Once the "go to the center" orange line stops just unlock free exploration and go forward the center a bit more.

Guys, I'm unmotivated as fuck right now.

I did the Atlas quest, probably 30+ hours in looking forward to the end and I was completely
dissatisfied

I'm debating just getting the trophies and quitting. Is it even worth it to go for the center ? I don't want it spoiled but If I'm going to grind for another 30 hours for nothing this game will go in the books as a huge dissapointment.

Should I just YouTube the ending and wrap up it up?

Also how do I get better ships? I have 10 mil but ships don't spawn with more than 23 slots at the stations.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
There was a crashed ship for me to investigate on the map (an icon pointing to it) but decided to mine gold instead.

Come back to my ship after doing some mining and the waypoint to the crashed ship has vanished.

Are the waypoints only available for a set time?

Cool...I guess..

So in regards to ship. Why don't I see large number slot ships on stations?most I have seen is 23. Should I buy one then higher number ones spawn?

They disappear either if you

A) Go to the ship, it'll wipe it from your objectives.
B) Reload your game using the reload option in the menu.

Got back from vacation. Installed patch and beta firmware. Game still looks like a broken mess on both of my Ps4s.

SLnQdZo.jpg

I've emailed Hello games support and posted in several forums with no responses anywhere. Found some others via YouTube with the same issue. Problem is exactly like the one with uncharted 4 before it was fixed via patch.

http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/UNCHARTED-4-A-Thief-s-End/Strange-texture-bug/td-p/45758466

As soon as I get close enough to the object, it fixed itself. It's annoying and ruins my screenshots but hasn't "broken" the game for me.

Same object above but a few feet closer.

The best is to repair shipwrecks, and get at least +1 every time.

I woulda swore I picked up the a homing blueprint for my starship cannons, I don't see it in my list though :( Is there a homing upgrade for the cannon or maybe I just looked at it wrong?

I got the Omega upgrade to the multi-tool mining laser, holy shit that just melts sentinels.

Patch notes are finally there.

Patch Notes
Since No Man’s Sky on PC released last Friday the team has been incredibly busy. We’ve gathered all the support requests to support@hellogames.co.uk, but we’re also tracking posts on Steam, GoG, Reddit and anywhere we can find online.

Right now the team is fully focused on categorising and fixing support issues in order of priority, based on the number of people they are affecting. The information and crash dumps you’ve posted have been indispensable in helping us track down and fix these issues.
We’ve now released 3 patches, and hopefully they really improve the experience for everybody. As you can see it’s been a huge amount of work for a small team. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Next week expect at least one more major update, which will enter testing on Monday once we finish working on it this weekend. Once all our support requests have been answered then we can begin improving the game with new features :)

See below for notes on all three recent patches!
Patch 1
The focus of patch 1 was to add greater support for more hardware. Either specific hardware configs, or hardware outside our min spec. We want as many people to be able to play as possible, and these were our most reported issues.

AMD Phenom Support
Game is now confirmed working on Phenom CPUs.
Thousands of lines of assembly have been rewritten to support AMD CPUs. The game code no longer relies on anything above SSE 2,
Havok Physics has also now created new libs for us to add Phenom support.

Alt-Tab has improved
Some systems/configs were crashing or not pausing correctly on Alt Tab. This should now be resolved.

Improved Performance
On CPUs with 4 threads or fewer, performance has been improved.
On CPUs with exactly 8 threads, performance has also been significantly improved.

Framerate Stuttering due to Shader Caching
Framerate was initially stuttering due to shaders not being correctly cached by the GPU on some systems. We have replaced the GPU caching system. You may notice some stutter during the Galactic Map intro to the game (the very first time you run), but it should be smoother from then on. This is particularly true on ATI cards.

Max FPS Cap
On some CPU/GPU configurations, setting Max FPS to 60 or 30 was not giving 60 or 30 FPS (causing stuttering). This has been fixed.

Radeon 6xxx
Added support for this GPU, which doesn't support OpenGL 4.5 fully.

Save Corruption
Solution to try to prevent saves getting corrupted no matter what’s going on in background processes (see Patch 3 below, where we also are attempting to recover corrupted saves).

Intel GPU Detection
We do not currently support Intel GPUS. We are working on this for a future patch, to expand our min spec.
In the meantime, the game will now let you know if you are trying to run with an unsupported GPU. This will hopefully flag for some users that their high end GPU has not been selected.

Gsync
Gsync has been disabled by default, which was causing an issue for some users

Mouse Smoothing
Generally this is most helpful for players with sub-30 FPS.
Smoothing on mouse movement has been improved to prevent hitching or stuttering, and is now adjustable through the Options menu in “Mouse Smoothing”.
It defaults to off. If you feel micro stutters in framerate affecting controls, feel free to turn this up. If you feel the framerate is "slow" or "lumpy", please make sure that this is turned off
Patch 2
For patch 2 our focus was on the most reported bugs or crashes. Our aim was to improve stability, and make sure player’s saves are safe in future.

Stuck under the world
It was possible for players to save their game stuck under the terrain, leaving them stuck. This was caused by getting shot down in atmosphere, and their ship reaching ridiculous speeds as it crashed to the planet. This has been resolved.
Whilst it won't happen anymore, if you are currently already stuck under the world, we detect this and do our best to rescue you.

Crash after warping
Occasionally at random the game would lock up after a warp, or return to desktop. This was due to very specific timing in hardware (a threading specific bug) – meaning that unfortunately for some people it was regular, and for others they would never be able to recreate it. This was our most reported crash during gameplay, and has now been resolved.

Game failing to save until you died
If the player died, and then loaded the game ten times without saving, and then died, player progress wouldn’t be saved from then on until you died again. This is fixed now! This was also causing player’s saves to grow in size.

Crash fixes in scanning
Quite a rare crash, but in certain scenarios it was possible to scan from space or on planet and crash the game.

Crash warping inside a freighter
When warping into a battle sometimes the player warped into the inside of a freighter and everything went crazy :(
This is fixed now.
Patch 3
Patch 3 is targeted at our next most common support requests, fixing the next most common crashes, as well as trying to help players who have become stranded or have corrupted their save files.

Stranded in Space Station
If you died in your ship while in atmosphere of a planet with a damaged ship, you could respawn in a space station with your launch thrusters and pulse engine damaged. If you did not have the resources to fix them then you could no longer take off and be stuck there. This will no longer happen.

Loading Corrupted Save Files
Some players have corrupted save files, we’ve been working with them to still load saves even if they are corrupted (this can happen for many reasons outside of the games control). This fix has allowed many players to still load their save even if they have become corrupt on PC.

Crash fixes for next three most commonly reported issues:
- As the player gathers a huge amount of discoveries, there was a threading issue that becomes more prevalent the more discoveries you have, and could cause the game to crash.
- If you had collected a large number of blueprints, in a specific order it was possible to crash the game when you received a new blueprint. This has been fixed.
- Players who set a large number of waypoints could find themselves in a situation where they could crash the game in the Galactic Map, this is remedied now (PS. A better waypoint system is coming).

I wish there were release dates/times on those patch notes. Do I have patch 3? When did I get it? Was it before or after my most recent attempt to run the game that caused it to crash within two minutes of startup? Great for Hello Games that 70% of support issues have been solved; when are you going to get to mine?
