No more excuses! Gundam Extreme VS PS3 to get a BEST (cheaper) release in Dec!

If I had to guess, because the arcade version is still the most played game over there and there's still a fuckton of money to be made on it.

I've never played a Gundam Vs.

Before I get into the game and get used to one control style (once I get the game that is), which controller would be a better choice? I have a six button hori fighting commander I could plug up, or would a standard ps3 controller work just as well?

I just wish I could get online and play with you guys, but boondocks Internet prevents that.

Im sure either will work fine. Many people use the Dualshock.

There's no way your internet is worse than Dunpeal or DonkeyShow's.

DAT BGM OH MY GOOOOOOD.
I'm always so mad custom soundtracks don't work when playing online. Wing battle theme replaced janky EW song on my list. Sooooooo much better.

Eh, whatever floats your boat really. I'd say the normal PS3 controller would be easier if you want to hit the multibutton macros without contorting your fingers.

Sounds like lewdness runs in the family.

I haven't been so hyped to play something in a long time. It's like waiting for Christmas morning. Game itself is taking it's sweet time to get here. Air Economy Box was the option I chose, so I guess I didn't get the free shipping. I may have chosen wrong.

Your item has been processed through a sort facility in HONG KONG, HONG KONG at 4:46 pm on December 16, 2012.

I guess it's still on the boat.

I'm going to have to use that suggested DualShock configuration as I'm sure it blows the default config out of the water.

Why was this never released in north America?

There's no "official" answer.

But when you consider that a) Gundam's appeal in the West is practically non-existent (or at least, certainly a far cry from the days when Gundam W aired on Toonami) and b) the last game in the Gundam Vs. series released over here (Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam) sold poorly, those are likely your two biggest components for why Bamco will likely never give us a Gundam Vs. game over here ever again.

And before you mention the Gundam Musou/DW: Gundam series, it should be noted that the main reason they even come over here is because Koei pushes for them. If they didn't, Bamco would have likely kept those over there, too.

So I finally got the game, and I have been playing it for like 2 straight hours and...
when it's supposed to get fun ;_;!?
Maybe I'm not playing it the right way?

Single player or multi? Multi is of course going to be more fun but can also be frustrating as a newcomer until you've learned the game. Singe player is more about the missions and what you have to do to pass each one. Some of those missions are fun and some of them I did not enjoy much.

I will say that once you've upgraded some suits (Unicorn!) sufficiently that the missions get more enjoyable.

Maybe. Did you look up a few faqs/youtube tutorials? If not, that could be a reason why you're not getting the game. Fighters can be boring if you don't have a grasp of the rules and fundamentals.

Here are a couple tutorials that should help you grasp it. It can be kinda daunting, especially if you haven't played a Gundam VS game before. Big ups to Brett for doing them, in English no less!

I tried missions at the end of my gaming session, and they were waaaay more fun than Free mode (?). Dunno why.

Yes I did, I actually didn't know what to do at first, so I looked up a guide on GFaqs to understand what the hell was going on.

Thanks, will watch them.

Btw, this game does support custom soundtrack, right? Because I can't stand the "new" Endless Waltz theme, and I want to use the original one.

Haha, I replaced the EW theme with "The Wings of a Boy who Killed Adolescence." But yeah, it supports custom soundtracks. This is how you get there.

Main Menu > Briefing Room (6th selection) > Pilot Data (1st selection) > BGM Edit (4th selection)

Well, the first bunch of missions are catered to teaching you how to play, on top being rather easy in comparison to Arcade mode... which assumes you already know how to play.

Those videos just made me order this game... Looks awesome!

Ok... doing missions has helped me to grasp a lot better the battle system. I'm aiming for S Rank in every mission.
Maybe I was just too tired the other day, but now it is actually fun.

Btw, is just me or Zero is a little bit slow? At least compared to Strike Freedom or 00.

Yup, SF is a speedster compared to WZC. Good luck with getting all S ranks! Tore my hair out getting some of them in the later tiers. Glad you're enjoying the game now! :)

BTW, if you want to maximize getting BP for your units: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjPQECRHI14

It'll probably be awhile before you get to that particular mission, but when you do, grind away (considering one of the trophies is to max out all the suits in Trial Mission mode :P).

Ok, so I picked this up and rather impressed that there are actually some gundams that I used to own (RX78-GP01, EZ-8 and Heavyarms Kai!!). So I keep losing, anyone I should try out first to get a good hang of the game? I started out with Heavyarms but he seems to be a support mech (doing the missiles thing). Um help?

I would say, start with the likes of First Gundam and Char's Gelgoog. Both of them are quite decent units that I would consider to be "jacks of all trades", with no glaring weaknesses and should do a lot to help you learn the game's basic mechanics.

Get the hang of them, and you should be ready to move onto some other 2000, 2500 and 3000 tier units. 1000s like EZ-8 I would leave alone until you REALLY get a good handling on the game.

Heavyarms is definitely not a good suit to start out with because he has a very unique playstyle.
RX-78 is a better choice, it is the most vanilla of suits and the stuff you learn playing it can be applied to other suits as well. Don't be afraid to try new suits though, maybe you'll find one that clicks, and it might be better overall for learning.
