4/6bb >> 4/6bb cancel to 4/6AB is usually the best option for melee. 4/6AB is also always great to get pressure off of you. Plus he has a lot of boost so don't be afraid to use it. :)

Copies arrived today! My friend is going to be surprised and stoked tomorrow at work.

Oh and, I want Arios Gundam! Might be time to invest in another JPSN card!

This came in the mail the other day and while it is rather enjoyable I am really not very good at it. Think I need to spend some more time with the basics before I do much else. Can only imagine how badly I would get beat down if I attempted to play online.

Oh, pick up turn X gundam, I feel it's probably the best introductory mecha in the game.

As someone who got the game two days ago, I can tell you that it does get better. There are definitely some fundamental aspects that will make a huge difference between succeeding and failing as a beginner.

Also, the Gundam you pick makes a big difference too. I've had the best luck with RX-78-2 Gundam, Infinite Justice, and Red Astray.

I would recommend watching as much as you can of the tutorial videos Donkey posted in the OP, as they cover the crucial parts of the game. Also, playing online with #gafgundam is easy and nobody is going to be mad if you're learning. They've been very patient with me ;)

Also, if you happen to get Strike Noir and/or Arios before February 10, you'll get some energy packs for Gundam Battle Operation... if you happen to play it. :S

It's all good man. We all have to start from somewhere. ^^ But if you wanna play online, you can jump in with us and not worry about messing up. We'll help you out. :D

I'm getting better, but I still suck.

Went through arcade with Turn X and Tallgeese this morning. Tallgeese unlocked some EX levels in Arcade, but I'm not sure what I did for it to happen.

It's usually your in the level you completed that will unlock EX stages. In the later routes, it is the sometimes the accumulated score of certain levels that will do it.

You'll be fine. ^^

Katejina is good, she has like 2 gerobis with wide spreads.

So if I was looking into buying the DLC, let me see if I've got the pricing right:

¥2000 - For the six previous releases.
¥3000 - For the current/upcoming (known?) releases.

Does this include GP03 and Xi?

Yup, that's right.

Also, Rainforce at gamefaqs found the movesets for Zaku III and Gold Frame: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/641161-kidou-senshi-gundam-extreme-vs/65040706

Isn't AGE-01 a rumored upcoming, and the four in the OP are the confirmed? So I might need another 1000 yen beyond the 3000. Even though it's 500 a suit...might as well future proof some more.

Its data exists, but only remnants of it versus all the other announced DLC so far. Plus Flit's VA credits don't exist whereas all the other pilots for the new DLC units do.

Well, you never know who'll show up really. Considering this image was for Full Boost about a month and a half ago from the mobile site...

Then we randomly get Zaku III and GP03 on top of Arios, Xi, Gold Frame, and Strike Noir for EXVS. I'm sure Namco wouldn't mind squeezing more money out of us with a couple more units. It wouldn't take anything away from FB either considering all the adjustments to the existing units and gameplay changes that are in that game as well.

Make assets for sequel, port to prequel, sell as DLC.

No problem.

I've wondered if they're waiting to release full boost alongside the PS4 launch just for some sort of "exclusive" title. I imagine they would still have a PS3 port release the same day, but having it at launch could help sway those who own a PS3 for games like this that live outside Japan. That might push a FB console release into 2014 (if there are delayed launches) hence all the DLC to keep this game alive. But won't there be another arcade release by next December? From what I understand about the release schedule.

I'm just hoping Sony keeps region free easy. I was planning to go PC/Nintendo from here on out, but games like EXVS really remind me of why I own some consoles.

I still say Full Boot PS3 will be unveiled at TGS and released in December 2013. That would follow the release pattern for EXVS arcade and console. Arcade profits are still relevant in Japan.

Is the Hi-Nu download a small (in KBs size) unlock file? I'm assuming the rest of the DLC is a larger download size. I have mobile internet with a bandwidth cap and wondered if the Hi-Nu wouldn't be too bad a download.

It's just an unlock code. Hi-Nu came on the disc. The new units like GP03, Xi, Arios require a download which you may have downloaded recently when you booted up the game.

Pretty sure it is, although I'd have to check on the specific size. Since you can play against DLC suits with no problem, I assume they're already all installed.

I don't think Bamco has any real reason to alienate the audience they have on the PS3 just yet. Especially not with a property like Gundam Vs., which really is only relevant in Japan at this point. That's a lot of money to be spending on a property that mostly makes its money in arcades anyway.

A future Tekken title may be more likely to be a "next-gen guinea pig", and that's because there's a bit more to gain from Tekken having a worldwide presence, where most don't have an arcade outlet to play the game.

That's what is in the update you need to download when you first pop in the game. All the "dlc" is is the unlock.

OMG the game is amazing!!!! :) loving it! Unicorn FTW :3

Unicorn is definitely a powerful unit. A complete zunda combo (Beam Rifle > Boost Cancel > BR > BC > BR) will do 200 damage. Glad to hear you're enjoying it! Remember to jump onto the IRC @Espernet #gafgundam if you wanna jump on some matches with Gundam GAF. :)

Was looking at the liveblog thread for tiering and they discussed Xi and GP03 placement.

3000
S Qan[T], Full Cloth Crossbone
A Destiny, Strike Freedom > Master
B v > Turn-X, Unicorn, V2, hi-v, DX, Xi
C 00 > Wing, Turn-A

2500
S Infinite Justice, Tallgeese
A The O > Zeta
B Freedom, Crossbone X1
C Deathscythe, God Gundam, Cherudim, Gottrlatan > Arche, ZZ, Sazabi, Sinanju, GP03
D X2, Raphael, Qubeley, Kshatriya

2000
S -none-
A Char Gelgoog
B Forbidden, Dragon Susanoo > Heavyarms, Blue Destiny
C Hyaku Shiki Virsago, Gundam, Gold Sumo, Strike, Delta, F91, Hyaku Shiki Zeong > Messala, Dynames, Blue Frame, Gunner, Red Frame, Providence, Exia
D GP02 > GP01

1000
S Zaku2 Hildolfr
A -none-
B LaGOWE, Gouf
C Berga Ez8 > ACGuy Zuda Alex Red Qubeley,
D GunEZ

Remember, the placement in the respective tiers does not represent one suit necessarily better than the other, i.e. Xi being lower than DX in the 3000 B tier. If there is a ">" in the tier, the units to the left of it are considered better than the units to the right of it.

Shouta also mentioned this somewhere about the tiers if you need a little more clarification. It's about Full Boost tiers, but it applies to vanilla EXVS as well.

Shouta said:
C = seriously lacking or weak units that are in need of adjustments. This can be for any number of reasons, even a difficult playstyle.

B = baseline or balanced. i.e. it's solid and very playable. It may have strong points but will also have weakpoints as well. By that token, the average rating of its skills across the board isn't outstanding nor is it lacking.

A = above-average/great. Units that are strong, easy to play, or have some notable advantages in certain areas. This could be super strong melee, high damage, mobility, weapon variety, or even play style bonuses.

S = overall best, advantages of A ranked units taken a bit higher. Obvious top-tier but usually this doesn't mean its without weakpoints. This is fairly evident in their design even in EXVS where the S-Tier units can and do have holes that allow you to beat them despite being incredibly strong.

It's really amazing to see how different Zero is here compared to what he became in Full Boost.

I ended up dropping him because he had so many issues in my mind in Extreme VS.
