Aha. So... no counter? Waht do you think?
If MS doesn't counter this month that means they've given up trying to win in the US, so I just don't see that happening...

I don't think they will do anything, they are probably making money compared to last year and are happy with it. The division finally needs to do that, they cant keep losing money just to be number 1. I mean it's not like they are getting stomped in NA compared to WW.
Apparently, Sony had the best Black Friday in company's history.
"We've just seen the most successful Black Friday in the company's history," he said in an interview with the Financial Times. "We are now trying to benchmark against the success of the PlayStation 2 - or exceed it if possible."

Nooooooo~ Not the MAUs, anything but the MAUs.Sure, but they were dominating last gen in US and UK, and this gen it's the only markets that work for them as long as they stay competitive. So, no reaction should widen the gap drastically.
I agree that profit on console sales is nice, but if in the end your sales underperform and you sell less, this also leads to less sales on games and subscriptions (and MAUs of course). Plus, it puts them in a bad position for marketing deals and exclusives.
Can they really be happy with this?
Except there are more than one interpretation of that PR.
Yours : (A, B and C) ----> D
Theirs: (A) and (B) and (C--->D), in other words A and B has nothing to do with C or D.
Sony is talking "worldiwde" in their PR, the US November NPD is lost then?

Also surprising to hear that Germany is their biggest market in EU.

PS4 has between 30 to 50 Games in the top 100 weekly in Germany. Xbox is dead, 95% of the time less games than PC in the Top 100.
There were times some months back were NO Xbox Game was in the Top 100.
Not a surprise really, Xbox One is much more competitive in UK, so can't be the biggest european market for PS4 and I believe Germany surpassed France.
Is that hourly?
Andrew House is the big boss of PlayStation worldwide.Nah it's an interview with the head of SCEE. They almost always talk WW figures.
. Also surprising to hear that Germany is their biggest market in EU. They also think 2.5 million year 1 sales of PS VR would be a success so that gives us some insight into what their expectations are for the platform.

I would expect most of their announcements to refer to worldwide numbers since the US is a smaller percentage of the total these days. Europe and Asia are growing rapidly.Sony is talking "worldiwde" in their PR, the US November NPD is lost then?
Their benchmark is the PS2?!? Wowww that's fucking crazy. PS2 had some insane sales figures in November. I assume this is WW? I wonder if they mean revenue or HW sales.
Edit: reading the article they are definitely talking about WW sales. Also surprising to hear that Germany is their biggest market in EU. They also think 2.5 million year 1 sales of PS VR would be a success so that gives us some insight into what their expectations are for the platform.

The PS4 has become the fastest-selling home console ever, exceeding the early performance of the PlayStation 2, which went on to sell more units than any other console over its 12-year life.

From the article:
Is that true at this point? I thought that PS4 was still behind Wii by a couple of million units as far as the "fastest selling console" title goes. Either way, this is an incredible turnaround from last gen in regard to control of total market share.

Just to clarify, IHS predicted a total of 2.5M headsets would be sold in the first year, with Sony selling the most. House responded that he found their numbers neither unrealistic or disappointing. But I haven't seen the report, so I dunno how much they predicted for each headset specifically. Also, House could be predicting PSVR will sell much more than IHS predict. /shrugThey also think 2.5 million year 1 sales of PS VR would be a success so that gives us some insight into what their expectations are for the platform.
Then do yourself a favor, and call your English teacher and ask them how commas work. Or maybe try your mom, after your English teacher reveals themselves to be another Sony sympathizer.100% agree with you. Data about WW Xbox Live sales and Gold subscription have no connection with the statement about US sales.

Dude, stop being a dick. This is not how you talk to people. In old news, a little over 2/3 of H5 total Oct sales were Packaged (excluding bundles).
100% agree with you. Data about WW Xbox Live sales and Gold subscription have no connection with the statement about US sales.
So including console bundles digital is around 27% then? Unless I screwed up my math. Seems like a slightly higher digital skew than normal but nothing unprecedented.
2nd highest dig share month 1 behind TKK apparently.
This is a weird way to see this I think.
Why wouldn't results world wide be the main focus? Doing well world wide is a lot more impressive than doing well in one country - even if that country is an important market in and of itself - isn't it?
I think most people here are saying that it won't be much of a counter if it comes that late.Again, there is a counter. As I said its not in the same date frame its later. You may not hear anything about it for several days.
