Oblivion Remastered |OT| Kvatching up with an old hero

Cringe Reaction GIF

Man, this game is really hit and miss with the visuals, there's not many games I can think of with such a huge gap.

Also, the quality mode on the Series X has to be one of the worst i've come across in a game.

This just feels so fucking surreal to play. Even with the build up and knowing of its existence it still feels out of nowhere. It's such an immense uppercut of nostalgia. I'm going through motions and checklists that are practically 20 years old, memories come flooding back. When done right, remasters/makes can be a real fucking trip man.

Basically once the emporer is killed. My memory is wondering around and making my own quest up. I did play many main story bits and side bits, def can't recall much.

Man, i feel really sorry for Skyblivion team (although they say they are fine)
Of course i will also check out Skyblivion when it comes out but for now? I'm very happy what we getting now.

They are most certainly not.
Why wouldn't they just keep on keeping on? Not like they were gonna sell that mod. It's free anyhow. I'm unsure why they'd care? Other than also maybe one upping the official remaster

They've had plenty of time for their version. Not like this game isn't 2 decades old.

It's hard to imagine a sizable portion of gamers caring at this point. I'd wager that most of the people making supportive posts for Skyblivion are doing so out of pity/empathy.

As a working adult with limited gaming time, I'm going with this, and Skyblivion might as well not even exist.

I'm not a huge mod gamer myself. I'm sure those that are, and those aware of this project, will 100% still try it out.

Not even sure what's in it for that "team". Again, they can't SELL it. It's not their IP.

What are the ps5 pro additions?

The quality mode seems to do ray traced reflections. Performance mode tries to keep 60 fps and gives that reflection boost up.

Lost a few hours easily already to this. Enemies look amazing, lighting is wonderful, combat feels satisfying.

Adept mode is too easy and expert mode is too brutal. Really need something right in the middle of those.

My first time with oblivion really and man the music hits good.

Experience, it's something they can put on a resume. They're also in good now with Bethesda, I'd imagine if they wanted a job there, they'd have an easier time getting one than most people.

As I'm playing this remaster now, what is most likely going to happen here is another AM2R/Metroid 2 3DS situation (in terms of how they play).

The remaster, while very fun and good looking, kind of sticks too closely to Oblivion's roots to the point where some of the gameplay/combat systems that were broken or dumb in the original remain just about the same here, with somewhat better feeling combat.

I think Skyblivion will feel like a bigger leap gameplay-wise based on everything I've seen and read about it, regardless of the huge graphical difference.

I can picture a future scenario where someone attempts to mod in some of the gameplay changes that Skyblivion presents, into this remaster.

Still can't believe this was a shadow drop lol

i mean sure, we can feel bad for that dev- but i dont feel bad once i know that they got paid for their game to be on gamepass. So, regardless of how it appears, they got paid. How they spent that money is on them.

That being said, it's literally 2 different types of RPG's. Fairly sure there's enough of a market for both.
Besides, since the remaster is from a MS first party, it'll be on gamepass indefinately- one could prioritize playing Clair Obscure first before it goes off the service.

Then they should keep on and improve on it. Show Bethesda what's up. This would further light a fire 🔥 under me. Like "meh. Look at Bethesda. Just an UE5 coat of paint"
Whatever the case. Just to motivate them and do it up the way we always wanted etc

Yes

Wait. Thought ya meant Steam achievements
on indiana jones there was an option in the steam version to sign into your ms account and get xbox achievements with steam. i was hoping that option existed.

speaking of indiana jones, if youve already played the steam/pc version it will autpop all trophies on ps5. crazy times we live in.

Wow. Cross play for real. Love to see it.

Personally speaking, if this hadn't come out perhaps I'd give Clair Obscure a try, but now I'll play a few dozen hours of Oblivion before I give any other game a try. And if Oblivion ends up lasting me the whole month of May, then in June Death Stranding will come out, July it's Ghost of Yotei, August it's Mafia and MGS, then it's GTA season if all goes well.
Things are not looking good for my Claire Obscure run.

And like me I'm sure there are many others, I think it's very likely this release will affect that game's performance

This right here. It's not like Xbox gamers buy games anyways. They likely aren't missing out on sales and got their gamepass money.

Well. Even though it's 2 diff RPG's.

There's a 100% chance that game performs better if a GOAT from 20 years ago didn't shadow drop.

It was on my radar too. Now? I'll wait.

Is it me or something looks off with the visuals? It's like there's no sense of style or art design whatsoever. I know the original game didn't have the best character models, but they're still ugly as shit in this one and the visuals just scream UE5.
No I completely agree, it feels very generic UE5. Still, it can look good in some places/times of day. And ugly in others.

I am frankly...mostly disappointed with the remaster. It stutters, does not look that great, is demanding as hell, and does not really address Oblivion's issues too much.

Maybe 50 megabit.

I did, but now I'm at the end!
50mbps? Fuckkkkkkkkk

You started this download when it was available I'm assuming? FFS. Wow. Just no words.

To be fair, I can drive 2-3 miles from my house and be in "no man's land" with 25mbps DSL being my fastest option. That or satellite internet
