Just got mine an hour or so ago, I'm reading through the character descriptions to pick my first story as we speak.Game just released. Come on GmG, i need that key!
The sequel takes place on a completely new world. It's like most jrpgs. Is the story completely removed from the first one?
Yes you can jump into this straight away. It's not linked to first game. Can I jump into this if I've never played the first one? Is this one substantially better than the first?
I like the look of a lot more character's here than the first game. I have the first available to play on xbox game pass on PC if I need to play it though. I tried it originally on Switch and was enjoying it, but it never sunk its hooks into me.
You can hover over them to read a blurb about their backstories, just pick whichever you like. Remember, you can recruit them all in almost any order you want and view all of their chapter 1 stories either at the time of recruitment or later at any tavern.Any suggestions on which characters to start with or order to play?
Man I have been waiting for that one to hit PC. wonder what's keeping them from doing it.Live A Live.
For me the game asked to me if I want to use save file from the demo.I can't figure out how to carry my progress from the demo over to the full game. Online it says there should be an option in the main menu, but I just have "New Game", "Continue" (doesn't do anything, greyed out), "Settings", and "Quit Game".
I still have the demo installed, and I can boot it up and see my save there. So weird, kinda frustrating. I guess I'll just have to replay the first few hours again.
I definitely agree I was blown away when I did her chapter, they really improved this aesthetics a lot.One of the highlights so far: the camera. It may sound silly, but the camera movements in the HD-2D settings give a real immersion.
In chapter 1 of Throne, the city takes on a whole new dimension.
I like the shallow depth of field too. Probably the only time you'll see me type that, but it works in this game, gives the cities a diorama feel. One of the highlights so far: the camera. It may sound silly, but the camera movements in the HD-2D settings give a real immersion.

It's 4Do we know how many secret jobs there are? I think last game there was just the4
Just follow chapter order. Road Signs are your best friend. I usually do all the 1's then all the 2's etc. But there are optional hidden dungeons in there you need to seek out and explore. How the hell are you supposed to know where to go after you finish a chapter? The game barely gives you any direction and you tend to wonder around aimlessly each time, not to mention the minimap is complete shit so you always have to pull up the world map to make sure you're going the right way.
Is the objective to just go to the areas where the othet party members are to recruit them all? In other words, do I need to do everyone's Chapter 1s before moving on to any Chapter 2s, etc?
My only issue with the game so far (outside of its seperate character structure but I'm giving it a chance despite that) is the total lack of direction after finishing a chapter. I know its not "cool" but i like being told where to go, preferably with an easily guided waypoint.
The world map shows you specifically which town triggers the next section of each character's story quests. You can go around doing 1,1,1,1 then 2,2,2,2 for various characters, or go straight 1,2,3,4,5 for a character you really like. It's very open for a JRPG in that regard. It doesn't point you in any particular direction because you have all the options available to you essentially from the start. How the hell are you supposed to know where to go after you finish a chapter? I'm not very far in this game yet since I recruit all characters/do all of their stories simultaneously, but in the first game, some of the field dungeons were for specific quests (sometimes sidequests even), sometimes you just happen by the entrances while exploring the overworld. Most of them are usually significantly higher level than the areas they exist in though, so don't feel like you need to find them all at the beginning of the game. Mostly exploration looking for chests and grinding was how I found them in the first game. Thanks guys. That's kinda what I've been doing but wasn't sure if I was doing it right, didn't feel natural to me.
How do I come across these hidden dungeons? I've ran into some dungeons that were above my level but worthless to explore cause I die in two hits. Are the dungeons tied to sidequests or do I just have to comb the map? And why do you see I NEED to seek them out? I'm guessing there's very useful equipment to be found? (As I remember reading equipment > level in this game).
Games need more than good art style to be good. Octopath story was a snooze fest.I absolutely adore the graphic style but the first game didn't really capture me. Too linear, not much RPG.
Yeah, I've seen this a lot, and I can say I did very little grinding in my 80 hours in Octopath. Agreed it may well be needed, but I did not do a lot of the optional caves and tombs or superbosses, or the optional postgame final dungeon superbosses. Maybe those require that?I beat the first game with zero grinding, its your choice if you want to grind but you never need to.
All three of your hopes are absolutely fulfilled, and more. So, worry not. It's a total refinement/ improvement on the first game.Great OP jshackles !
I have 3 hopes for this game:
- The characters interact with each other more often and more naturally
- The OST is still a banger
- The game isn't afraid to explore darker stories like Primrose's from the first game.
