His stuff looked pretty good. His velocity was 88-91. His change was decent. He threw the curve for strikes. Location, location, location. Missed with a lot of fastballs very high. Went to the well once too often on Martinez. He looked at 2 backdoor curves but the last one was right over the middle. The ability looks to be there. I think he'll bounce back next year.

I was encouraged by the five strikeouts. His command wasnt great and clearly the big boys hurt him..but I was generally encouraged by what we saw. He semed a little more sure of himself and his pitches were mostly crisp and varied. Im glad he got this start..there were many things he could take from this and build on.

If fucking Halladay hadn't had that one shitty year nobody would even be thinking about Matusz pitching again, instead they're hopeful.
