Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

You know what i was wondering, after watching an online review?

WHEN?

Well, I'm pissed and I'm really questiong if bailing out of VC already, I wasted 900 points for SamShodown2, fucking borders and game's slow as fuck. Really really slow.

Damn I'm pissed, I would've been better off buying the Anthology if it wasn't that I was interested only in SSII and I really like having the games always at hand.
I downloaded more then a few days ago but didn't play it till tonight.

Damn, we should have demos available or at least proper direct feed videos or something... Nintendo.

I don't get it though, Ninja Commando seems fine (other than thay AWFUL screen tearing which to this day I dunno if it's an emulation problem, a problem with my download or the original was exactly the same way) and I don't have a single website in my bookmarks (this is crazy really) taking every damn VC game out there and giving proper informations about the PAL version, seriosuly vc-reviews should wake the fuck up because I rember those guys doing some kind of PAL reports before but not anymore.

Damn I'm pissed.

This happens every time. As soon as something we want comes out on VC, the Nintendo community immediately moves on to screaming about a new game. MARIO 3 NOW OR DIE NINTENDO, SUPER METROID NOW!!!! SMRPG NOW!!!!!! etc. Can't we have a break before we start getting indignant about something that absolutely isn't happening? There's still Earthbound to whine about.
Like I said, it was just wishful thinking. I never expect a Square sequel to Super Mario RPG.

Are you playing on an HDTV? I can't play Baseball Stars 2 properly on an HD screen. It's either invisible (you hear sound and the game is running, but you can't see it unless you hit the home button), or it's squished in the top half of the screen.

There's something they're doing with the Neo Geo emulation that doesn't jive with HD sets very well. Hence I finally bailed out and repurchased a Geo some months ago. Best decision I ever made.

Nope, but it doesn't have anything to do with HDTVs nor it is related to the TV in any form, is just the usual sad state of affairs of crappy PAL conversions of OLDE.
You'd think they'd fix it nowadays but nope, they've gotta piss you off just because.
Fuckers.

Fake. That's August 27, 2007.
I was seriously freaked out for a second there. I knew those were already released, but all I could think was "WHERE'S YS?! WHERE'S SUPER MARIO RPG?!" I don't expect Nintendo to release both tomorrow, but neither would make me explode.

Yeah I'm disappointed with SS2 too. The slowdown and borders don't bother me as much as they should, it's the gameplay that gets me down. I'd never really sat down and played a SNK fighter before, I'm not impressed. If SS2 is one of the better SNK fighters then I don't know what the fuss was about. Ok, I admit, playing on a wii-mote isn't helping things but the gameplay just isn't anything special.

I had 1700 points before I bought SS2, now I have 800 points. Ooops, I could have bought SMRPG but for some reason that's 900 points.

It's from the same time period as like Super Street Fighter II, and it plays every bit as well as that game does. If you want to experience the state of the art for SNK fighters, get Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves, King of Fighters XI or King of Fighters '98: Ultimate Match. Sadly, none of those are out on Wii (yet) but they can all be had on PS2.

The virtual console Neo Geo games seem like a waste of money quite frankly. There are what, 17 games up, and like 12 of them are on SNK Arcade Classics vol.1 for less than 1/4 of the price.

And even if there's a title you want that's VC only right now, odds are there'll be an SNK Arcade Classics Volume 2 down the road with most of them. SNK is the king of rereleases.

I think SNK's fighting games definitely improved with time. I know a lot of early Neo-Geo fans like SS2 the most, but as someone that got into the Neo-Geo games quite late, I like SS4 the most of that series... I definitely think that overall, SNK kept getting better. Mark of the Wolves is better than any of the previous Fatal Fury games, The Last Blade 2 is one of the best fighting games ever, The King of Fighters... well, '02, '03, and XI are all exceptional (though '98 and '99 are good too, for sure, and none of the KOF games are bad), Samurai Shodown, I felt, peaked at SS4... the early stuff like Art of Fighting 1 or Fatal Fury 1 or 2 definitely aren't representative of SNK's later titles.

Samurai Shodown 2 is one of the better of their early games, though. Art of Fighting 3 and World Heroes 2 are also quite good... but yeah, I don't like SS2 as much as 4 or maybe even 3.

And (particularly in recent years) long, inexplicable delays to their US releases.

SAMURAI SHODOWN 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen-Blood, Language, Tobacco Reference, Violence, 900 Wii Points): First released in 1994, this fighting game follows 15 samurai in their individual quests. The rage system, which was popular in the first game, has been further enhanced. Not only does attack power rise when the gauge is full, but the player can also use a special technique that can break the opponent's weapon and force the opponent to fight unarmed. The game also allows for more movement techniques such as back-stepping, rushing forward and ducking, allowing for even more strategies. A fun and important detail of this game: One of the new characters, Cham Cham, was voiced by voice actress Reiko Chiba, an idol in the gaming community.

Huge update. Cheers NTSC US friends. Make sure they get according sales so Nintendo notices it's smart to listen to the enthusiasts crowd.

I sure hope people don't take their Mario RPG rage out on poor Ys.

But I think they will.
no way. Ys and SamSho2.... I think most would universally agree that either of those are as good as SMRPG in their respective genres.

Frankly this VC update is one of the best we've ever gotten. Still skeptical that we'll see ass and shit next week... but yeah, this is one of the best week's we've ever had as far as quality goes.

Time to get some Wii points. Unfortunately, between work, school, and the undgodly traffic I have to go through to get from downtown Atlanta back home, I wont get back until close to 8 tonight.

Best update in a long time: Ys is worth the fuss. I now no longer have a reason to complain about the sorry state of VC
at least for a couple of months.
