you know that hunters is just a demo, right? :\

Yeah I knew it was a demo but I still got the impression that it wasn't really a game. I don't know how to explain it, but Xellos said what I wanted to say. Btw, I didn't play multiplayer (just shot those floating Metoid-like things) so I can't say if the gameplay is much better there but overall my impression of the game was that it lacked substance.

How does the DS' internet function work? Does there need to be someone with a DS a few feet from me in order to chat with them or could I go into a pictochat with someone in Texas (I'm in NYC)? I'm still confused about it.

I know.. I was just pointing out that you were complaining that a demo lacked substance.. :P

internet doesn't work. the wifi is just standard IEEE 802.11b but until someone actually programs an IP networked game it does nothing...

my only doubts are about length.. everything I have seen and read seems to indicate the gameplay will be classic.. I just worry that we'll have another Space Channel 5 on our hands.. great gameplay for the 4 hours you play it... :(

are those the first shots ever of Tiger Woods?????

I looked all over yesterday for shots but couldn't find them... adding them to my launch window post on the first page.

If its 19.99 I'm getting it for the Animal Crossing/collection features, the fun chara design and to support WayForward.

Hell if its only $20....

WTF?!? Nintendo is playing dirty!

No. These were:

My brother's got his prepaid and ready to go and he'll have it a few days early as the store's going to break street date.

Myself, I'm not really excited for either the DS, nor the PSP. I'd much rather in the PSP's case that the titles were made for the PS2/3 rather than a scaled-down (most likely) version on the PSP. For the DS, I like the idea of the touch screen, but so far I've seen nothing that is truly innovative from that idea. It's more like Nintendo came up with the idea for a dual-screen system utilizing a touch screen, but didn't really have any tangible ideas on how to utilize it properly. I'm sure I'm wrong, and there will be something down the line, but so far colour me unimpressed on both fronts.

They also had Spider-Man 2 and Mario 64 but said that Mario 64 was street-dated so it couldn't be sold until the 21.

This was the same Game Crazy who said they would sell the systems as soon as they got them too. Bastards, must've heard back from corporate or something.

The casing is beautiful since I'm so used to those cardboard boxes we've had for so long.... and it holds GBA games? Sexy.

Yeah, the case is awesome. so long paper boxes! too bad they didn't adopt this for the GBA as the cases for the classics line could have been awesome.

of course, if they sell the cases from their website then you could order a bunch and create your own boxes for your GBA games.

I've been spending half of my past three lunch breaks going to EB to pick up games and play me some hot Metroid Prime Hunters.

Yes, I fiddled with Picto Chat a bit too.

i just played one and my only real complaint is the buttons, WAY to small. The graphics arent nearly as bad as in the pics and are suprisingly quite good. the touch screen was very responsive but still seems to much ofa gimmick to me I only looked at one screen the whole time and forgot about the top screen all together. maybe that s something that one has to get used too in the long run since we are all used to 1 screen. Its an okay system, but not one for me

Spiderman2 getting great reviews. There's a couple new ones up at Gamerankings.

IGN has the trailer up. I was just watching the large insider video...umm where are the texturing problems people were complaining about? Even in the enlarged vid I don't see those problems anymore. Everything looked smooth and crisp, no edgies, very fast motion. Shimmering was only seen on the shrunken "pulled back" shots.

EDIT: Ah, I decide to go ahead and watch the video over again. I can see very tiny bits of shimmering in the background, but it's so minute and I had to have been really looking. Plus this is direct feed and larger. Still nothing that would me go "BLECH!".

Really? Metroid?

I was playing with "S" style controls (Standard/Stylus) and its the one where the gameplay is on the top screen, and the mouse look and missile/power beam/morph ball are all done via the bottom touchscreen. Obviously, I was controlling "blind", looking at the top screen, not the bottom where the stylus was. Very intuitive!

i didn't mess around too much with it but it had the map on the top and u played on the bottom. touching the screen shot and controlled where samus was when u were rolled up

Sorry dude, that control scheme was the bad one. :/

I love the morph ball controls in Metroid... They're totally intuitive... I was able to get all of the orbs on my first try.

all we got at TRU today was spiderman... and like 40 copies of it.

we've also had the shitty intec accessories for a few days now (leather case, etc)

So um.....has anyone seen the new DS commercials? They're up at ign.com. Better than I expected....

Thanks for the heads up. I liked them a bit, nothing spectacular though, but definitely commercials I feel fit right with the demographic they've said they wanted to target.

ESRB datebase

According to the ESRB, Rayman DS is actually Rayman 2: The Great Escape, the title that appeared on the N64/Dreamcast/PC.

While a new Rayman would have been great, a port of the best Rayman in the series makes me happy as hell!

the new commercials are great, especially the one with the van (i believe it's called "dust"). much better than some of the ridiculous gba commercials i've seen. perhaps nintendo is getting their act together on the advertising front?

YES! :D

Rayman 2 is one of my favourite N64 games, even though I had to buy a freaking expansion pack AND controller pak for it. The one screenshot that has been shown of Rayman DS does look like The Great Escape, I wonder what new features it will have, I hope there's enough new stuff to warrent a purchase, i'm looking forward to finding out.

I wonder what the PAL launch lineup will look like? God damnit the wait is killing me, I should just stop reading about the DS altogether until next year. :P

umm... those ads really kick ass.. I mean from a pure marketing level, only focusing one ad on touching but two ads on wireless (which will sell the system a lot more than touch screens). an one ad on xhatting wirelessly... man..

nintendo has made one minor mistake imho though.. they should have had pictochat be able to hit hotspots and use the internet out of the box. if you could basically use that as a poor man's text message only without all of the insane phone fees, they could have solid gold on their hands... litterally printing their own money at that point.

lol.. actually the gravy one is the one I like best.. emphasizing wireless multiplayer is a masterstroke... now they need to just get games out that support more than 4 players... give me a 16 player Duke Nukem game and the DS is never leaving my hands...

Considering that the only shot Ubi has released was a fake (containing an actual N64 screenshot), I'm betting that this will either be significantly delayed or horribly rushed.

really?

I didn't think blockbuster would rent out DS games.

yeah it may be GameRush ones only though. You should be able to find them sandwiched in the middle of the GBA rental soon.

Ds games/systems for sale are on an endcap for now
