Canadian Grand Prix Qualies were today. Uneventful with Rubens having more gearbox problems. :( Michael had the same failure this weekend, but not when it mattered. Michael got 2nd, which is awesome. But the Ferrari pit crew didn't seem very happy. Must be running light on soft compounds. But don't have Rubens to measure him by.

As for the rest of the non-Scuderia cast. Blah blah blah, Button kicked everyone's ass. And JVill romped on Massa for the home fans. 8th from a good drive. Minardi in 15th. Albers with a nice drive. That car is so unstable, and he beat both Poordans.

Alonso and Fisichella look fast. I would expect Kimi to be running heavy and passing in the pits.

Anyway, my bold prediction is that if MS can hold off the Renaults after lap 1, then he'll win the race. I mean, something's gotta go right this season. It was a good run of luck before. It's gotta come back around sometime. I don't know what Benson is on, but I feel Michael can run him down in a race. At this track, you can hold off overtaking attempts, but Jenson and Taku are giving up 8-12kph on the straights. Should be an interesting race b/c the top 10 cars seem close in pace. PEACE.

Good to see Honda back on top where they belong. :D They've got some nice looking new pieces on the car, seems to have done the trick as well. But have they got the race pace? :(

Yeah Williams has a poor qualifying session, both drivers made mistakes on their laps. Webber going out early didn't help either.
I think that Button may be light, he (and maybe JV) were the only ppl to match or beat their morning times.
Can't wait for the race... Live at 3 am :(

WTF...Michael's had about seven years of good luck. :lol He needs to go Jacques Villenuive/BAR for the next four or five years to balance out his ridiculous good fortune.

Having said that, Michael can win this race, and I expect he will. He's owned this track like no other (what's he won, five of the past six and seven overall in Montreal?), and the car has shown in the past that it has the speed neccessary to compete with Reanult and McLaren. All he's needed is better track position, and he's got that now. Even if he goes with a three stop strategy, he's got an excellent shot of making it work (I'm pretty certain BAR is using a three stopper, unless they stuffed two extra pistons into their engines last week...or messed around with the gas tank again :lol).

:lol Most of the schedule is on here at 8am (or 5am in the west coast), so it's cool to have the next couple races on in the afternoon. 3am is pretty rough though, particularly if you don't stay up often. Better record the race just in case you nod off.

Anyway, this should be a fun race...the field is really jumbled up, and the pit strategies that could play out should be fascinating. I just hope nobody gets crunched in the first corner, but I don't have a good feeling about it. I bet Kimi gets fucked in that first corner somehow...you wanna talk about a driver with bad luck, it doesn't get much worse then his.

Cool beans...that oughta be fun. Hope Speed shows some extended coverage of that.

Oh BTW, the race in the US is on CBS today. Think it starts at 1pm, maybe earlier.

Yeah, race starts in an hour on CBS. I forgot to mention that Scott Speed did pretty well on Friday. At least he outperformed his teammate, even if in qualifying trim. Hopefully he can impress enough to earn a seat next year. PEACE.

CBS coverage is about 11 laps behind the live feed being carried by TSN up here.

Heh, this has been a crazy race...even just now there's been an incident.

:lol Just a crazy race...just a crazy amount of driving errors, mechanical failiures, and everything in between. I'll wait till the CBS broadcast finishes before saying more.

Definitely... But Kimi won :D , and Alonso dropped out of the race today, so it gets a little bit more interesting again for the championships.

Oh, and no doubt Pimpwerx will be very happy with Michael's 2nd place, and he did a good job, just as Rubens did. :)

:lol That's pretty annoying...even TSN cut away from the last minute of that. I think a few F1 websites throw up the transcripts for those pressers, so I'll try and keep an eye out for them.

Great win for Kimi, and a better result with Alonso getting zippo. He's gonna need at least two DNF's for Kimi to have any real shot at the title. Even then that'll require Iceman to finish high in the points every race the rest of the year. Pretty tall order, but who knows. It's all the more frustrating knowing that Kimi's had by far the best car the last five races, and should have at least four wins on the trot if not five. But that's racing I guess.

Ferrari sure got their 2004 luck back. :lol Michael got eaten alive at the start of the race, but managed to keep it together. Shrewd move by Ross Braun to pull him in early, in order to get some open space later on. Then the pace car pulls out right when he's in front of the pit entry...typical. :lol Great result for him...in some ways it's a shame he couldn't get a little close to Kimi towards the end, though I think he would've had a hard time passing with all that loose rubber on the road. And Rubes easily had the drive of the day...didn't attempt a qualifying lap, half the parts on his car got changed, starts in the pit, and he winds up on the podium. Good for him.

Great to see Villenieve actually finish his home race for a change. Had he not suffered front wing damage on the first lap, he had a realistic shot of finishing in the points.

Now for the goofy stuff...I do NOT want to be Montoya right now, even with that hot wife of his. McLaren's always valued the constructors title over the driver's crown, and Montoya pissed 8 team points away (not to mention 10 for himself) for no good reason.

BAR's miserable season continues...there's always one car that gets eaten up by the wall of champions, and Button was the unfortunate victim this time around. Looked like he was scared to death of Michael after what happened at Imola a few weeks ago. Webber continues to fuck things up come race time, making two silly errors at the Casino turn and costing him 4th place.

Not sure what BAR was thinking, sending Sato back out after 20 odd laps in the pits. He almost had a direct impact on the race lead after he spun out, when one of the Minardi's went into that turn too hard, wobbled a bit, and came back out right in front of Michael.

Just a crazy race overall...only five cars finished on the lead lap, and just eleven cars finished overall. Can't wait for the Indy race.

Great win by Kimi, but he got lucky on this one.It balance things out I guess. No way he was winning this race and Alonzo really freaked the hell out behind Fisico. He lost his cool and that's probably one of the reason he was in the wall a few laps later.

Most races are on FTA here at around 11 or 12pm. I get satillite so watch it live at around 10pm. So it's good timing :) It's just the american races that are on in the middle of the night!

Now for the race itself. I thought it was a good race. Kimi finally had some good luck. So many of the front runners failed to finish. Apart from Brazil a few years ago, i can't think of another race where so many front runners failed to finish. It was a dry track (apart from some light drizzle) for most of the race too.
Trulli was lucky to have his brake failure where he did, lots of room to slow down. Feel sorry for him though, robbed of a podium finish.

Because Sato retired so early, he would have been first out in qualy at Indy next week. Basically just cleaning the track. By replacing his gearbox and getting him out, he had the chance to finish higher up, potentially not having to go out until 4th or 5th, by which time the track will be cleaner and he'll gain time.

Which he did - he finished 16th instead of 20th.

If anyone is to blame it's McLaren for taking Kimi in first. Typical Ron with his head lodged up the Finish driver's ass... god he pisses me off.

I heard the McLaren team had about ten seconds to make the call to bring Montoya in, which might not have been enough time. He defintely got hooved though. In retrospect I think RD was more critical of the decision to black flag him then anything Montoya did, which is good to see.

Ah, interesting...still would've been highly controversial had Michael gotten into him. :lol

McLaren called Montoya in first, but he misread the message and missed the pit, so Kimi came in.

woow there's people who really "care" about F1 around here??

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KIMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII :D

he's gonna kick everyones ass soo hard.. last race was a total disaster for that poor guy, he's clearly the BEST driver out there, but his team has failed him last year, and in few races this year.

Montoya in the other hand is a fucking joke, I wish they keep De La Rosa(sp?) as the main driver instead of Montoya.

Thats what the commentators heard, but it seems the official line is different, and that Kimi was actually called in first. Who knows.

How could he have mis-understood it though? Listening to Kimi's radio the guy on the pitwall talking sounded as clean as a whistle. Ron stuck it to Montoya, Kimi is his blue eyed boy afterall.
