Yeah and Jackson STILL had a better game than any of Dallas' receivers (Edit, erm, excluding TD's). I realize PITT is the pick to win the game but I'm not sure about Holmes yet. At least Jackson is PHI's primary receiver. That's why it's a pickle.
I would still start Holmes unless you have serious concerns about Big Ben's arm. I've got DeSean riding my bench this week despite his early consistent output... in his place I'm starting Megatron, Eddie Royal (vs. the 'Aints) and Bryant Johnson (vs. the Lions).

Matt Millen: "Lions should stay the course".

Millen said he believes in Marinelli more than ever before because Marinelli has remained consistent amid adversity. He said he still believes in the coaching staff and players — and that if the Lions just do what they’ve been doing, they will win this year.

“Stay the course,” Millen said. “It’s a little bump. … It’s not like you have to panic. You don’t have to make wholesale changes. You don’t have to do all that stuff. It’s all right there.”

Millen echoed the comments Marinelli made in Monday’s news conference — that the Lions have improved their professionalism in their preparation, but now they have to take that into the games.

“I said at the beginning of the season, ‘Come on out, and you’ll like what you see,’ ” Millen said. “And I think the people who came out (to training camp), they like what they see because they see discipline. They see the approach is right. They’re practicing right. All the little things.”

I agree.

But using the Giants' 16 points, in week 1, against a divisional rival, in a game that was over in the first quarter, in order to prove that the Giants haven't been solid... or sound... would be incorrect. I feel.

Regardless... lotta football to be played in between the time Week 9 rolls around.

Just like the Dallas defense was terrible in the first half against the eagles, the Giants offense was pretty bad in the 2nd half of the washington game

and that game was not over in the 1st quarter. a 16-9 game at halftime is never over. maybe if the giants had scored in the 2nd half, they could have put the game away.

Did you see the Eagles secondary vs Dallas? :lol

did you? the only time TO burned them was when considine (backup safety) was on him or when dawkins (old safety) was left one on one on TO.

sheppard, brown, and samuel actually covered him well. it will come down to pass rush. if the eagles had produced any pass rush at all on romo, the secondary would have shined and maybe picked off some passes. the only one time they did get pressure the forced romo into a INT.

ward and holmes will get their #s bu i dont see them torching the eagles. im more worried about steelers RBs and TEs torching the eagles LBs.

eagles played TO well in the 2nd half, but they sacrificed leaving the tight ends and backs wide open so Romo dinked and dunked his way to scores

yeah but TOs 2 scores came against the safeties. he still did his damage but its not like the secondary was lit up.

Fantasy football fans, would you trade Tomlinson for Willie Parker and Greg Jennings? How about for Parker and Julius Jones? This is in a point per reception and point per 10 yards recieving/rushing league. Which of those trades is better?

The second one definitely not. The first one probably not. It's tempting to dump Tomlinson with the uncertainty surrounding his injury, but at this point I think you have to ride it out as opposed to selling low on him.

I know, I took him with the first pick in the draft (stupid, should have gone with Westbrook) and am getting nothing out of him. It's killing my chances at this point which is why I'm tempted to trade him.

I don't trust Tomlinson. If his toe didn't heal in the offseason, it's not going to get any better the rest of the year. How many TDs does Tomlinson have this year? Oh yeah, none....I would take that first trade but not the second.

Owens' long TD was on Sheppard and Dawkins. Is Jim Johnson that stupid to put an old man Dawkins one on one with Owens? Watch the replay.

Wrong. Owens long TD came on Considine. he stepped forward instead of dropping back in coverage and owens ran right by him.

he stepped forward because he bit hard on the pump fake :lol

but jim johnson is stupid enough to put dawkins one on one with TO at the goal line (but that was more due to the personnel on the field thinking it was going to be a run)

woodchuck said:

and thats why he is a back up safety. considine is fucking garbage. he should only touch the field on special teams.

btw, deon anderson is injured. this means witten will be put in more blocking situations and less running routes

just an fyi to fantasy owners.

Damn, so should I play LJ Smith instead? Witten is so dependable though ;(

I'd take Parker & Jennings. Jennings is a stud and is going to have a pretty monster season.

Had to change my vote on the titans/texans game.
Think I assumed Vince Young's departure would have had a more negative effect on this team then it is starting to appear. That said, I still think this game is up for grabs, but leaning towards the home team.

*spit take*

mistaking Considine for Dawkins is like mistaking Kordell Stewert with Peyton manning :lol

Yeah Sheppard was closer to Owens than Considine on that play. Looked like they both bit on the double move. Either way, Considine and Dawkins are still a part of the Eagles secondary last I checked. They got burned. And then they shut down TO in the 2nd half at the expense of everyone else on the field pretty much. Witten made Dawkins his bitch.

Man there are going to be some shoot outs this week.

Dallas/GB
Skins/Cards
Broncos/Saints
Chargers/Jets

Have the week 3 maps been released yet?

Mistaken Dawkins for Considine. Still, Sheppard is right near the Safety as Owens runs by them.

Yeah, well we already know Sheppard sucks. http://views.washingtonpost.com/the...008/09/lito-sheppard-sabermetrics-martyr.html

In this case though, Sheldon Brown's quote in the article is applicable. Sheppard was expecting safety help over the top, when Considine bit on the pump fake it meant Owens was able to run right by both of them. Still doesn't make up for all of the other big plays Sheppard is prone to giving up. He gets a lot of INTs but that comes with a price. He is definitely overrated, although apparently not by the other teams in the league since the Eagles were never able to get rid of him this offseason.

I would also take Parker & Jennings. Jones won't have as much value once Mau-Mo is healthy again.

Then again, I just acquired LT in my own fantasy league for Thomas Jones, Matt Cassel and a bunch of waiver wire fodder so he makes a great buy-low candidate if you can find a sucker or two. :D

He would have had 3 td's had Samuel not tackled him in the endzone to prevent the score, he still got the pass interference call on him though.

Stealers :lol

Detroit/Niners!

I don't know how you look at the past 2 eagles games and think that this won't have the potential to be a high scoring game. And while we're at it, lets not base the Stealers offense on a game played in tropical storm weather like last week. I'm pissed this game is airing at the same time as my saints game.

i dont think it will be a shoot out. Eagles in the Reid era have always come up shitty playing against the steelers.

and on the other end, the steelers o-line is trash. we should be able to put a hurting on Ben's shoulder.

While I somewhat agree, I also never expected the Cowboys/Eagles games to be the kind of shootout it turned into, both teams either have terribly overrated defenses.. or their offenses are just that good. Either way, this game is at philly, and I think the eagles are going to be hungry as hell after last week. I'm expecting big things.

I don't think we can really estimate the Eagles Defense based on the Dallas game. Nor the Rams game. Any divisional game just brings too much wackiness and emotion. I'll be interested in seeing them against the Steelers. Bottom-line: it's too early and Dallas is a great football team. The Gints have had the luxury of the Rams and played the Racists pretty well. Even then, too early.

i dont consider considine part of the eagles secondary. i dont even consider him a football player. dude shouldnt even be on special teams.

that play where he was burned i think it was zone coverage with lito playing the 1st down yardage and considine deep. he bit and even if he didnt bite on the fake TO would have ran by him.

hobart said:
Then you didn't watch that game.

I did, I've seen the Redskins end up winning plenty of games the shouldn't have when they've been allowed to hang around by the opposing team. It's almost become a staple of the Snyder era.

Eagles better bring the pressure up front otherwise they will just flush ben from the pocket where he can shred that secondary (assuming they play as bad as they did in Dallas).

I remembering fucking screaming at him when that happened. He was in the perfect scheme to pick that shit up and knock that play out. Fucker was put there to prevent just that and he ends up biting on a pump fake and getting blown the fuck by.

I see a lot of people criticizing the Eagles secondary, but besides that one long bomb to Owens I thought the secondary played great. They shut TO down in the second half. The plays that killed us were passes to the TE and RB. For that I blame the LBs. Overall though, the thing that really killed us was the lack of any sort of pressure on Romo. 0 sacks and not a whole lot of hurries that I can remember. You let a QB like Romo stand in the pocket all day and he is going to find somebody that is open, I don't care how good your secondary is.

I really wish they would have done more to improve the line this offseason. Signing Clemons was ok, but he's nothing but a 3rd and long type DE. We needed to get a stud pass rusher in here. Somone like Jared Allen. I was hoping they could have traded up in the draft to get one of the top DEs.

Okay, I'm sorry, but criticisms against Pitt's O-line this year is pretty stupid so far. What have done wrong this year? Ben's only been sacked, what, 3 or 4 times? Big deal. Until he gets sacked like 4 times a game, I'll be concerned. So far, they've done their job.

When you give up 40+ points the whole defense has to share in the blame.

Even with a average d-line that was unacceptable.

They have played 2 games against the Texans and Browns. Lets not start sucked each others dicks just yet. And against the Texans they couldn't stop Mario Williams.

They have a tough schedule this year and we will know soon enough just how good this team is going to be.
