Day 1: buy 50 boxes, enjoy!
Day 1: spend gold on goodies for my mains (Tracer, Mercy) if the loot boxes didn't provide.
Last day: spend gold on the necessaries I missed throughout the event.

My Tracer will be in an adorable yet subversive hoodie before the day is out!

The arcade is aggressively terrible. Like it's the direct antithesis to whatever definition of fun you could come up with.

The new brawl maps are also a load of shit.

All brawls was half decent and it's been gone for months. Makes the weekly boxes being tied to arcade wins even more painful. I can't stomach it if it's not during events now.

Why do you guys hate the Arcade so much? It's a perfectly fine gamemode. 3v3 and 1v1 both got a lot more strategy added to them with the changes as well.

Depends on how seriously people take those other modes. You can still have fun in them as a stack.

Personally, I find them boring and the maps are small. 6v6 is the most fun.

It got a lot of anti-fun.

If we play Winston and Zen and you are getting destroyed, pick up a Roadhog or Pharmercy and play well or go home.

Well, turns out that they showed only the garbage skins, the new ones are actually pretty good. Hopefully I'll be more lucky this time, since I only have 5k gold. Sombra really needs a new skin, btw.

Oh wow, Zarya's new weapon is really nice. Too bad the skin is that bad.

3v3 is pretty damn good (particularly with this update), but 1v1 is kind of boring tbh, and can be long with needing to win 5 rounds and all of the intros heh.

Just got home from work, love the dances. Not really in love with any of the skins aside Tracer looking like a looter from Dead Rising, that's probably the only skin I'll use coins for.

They're cool, but I'm not dying to use any of them. Jetstream Hanzo and Sentai Genji made me laugh. D.va's would be cooler if it wasn't outclassed by the Police skin.

3v3 would be the best thing ever if the heroes were balanced for it instead of vanilla. As it stands there some balance issues, but nothing I can't live with.

I've always greatly preferred no-respawn modes over "meat grinder" modes in shooters though, so I might be a bit biased.

Ppl calling it "non-event", "cash grab"... etc. It looks like many are disappointet and expected more from 1Y.A. event.

it needed something better than 3 arcade maps imo, skins and dances are nice but doesn't seem like a one year celebration thing.

I haven't loaded the game yet, just saw everything on the site.

Are all the dances 750 and all the skins 3000? And are they limited time? Because if so, that is bullshit.

I agree. Since it's 1Y.A. Event... it needed more and not just new time limited cosmetics.

Exactly. All skins are 3k and emotes are 750.

I appreciate the gesture of everyone getting a dance, but economywise, unless you've been hoarding coins for a long as time, buying boxes is mandatory, and that's a bad way to celebrate. Lack of a new event is whatever, but forcing people to pay up is garbage

The new arena maps are great, each has something unique, and the tweaks to the modes are welcome. The Zarya, Tracer, Mei, Lucio (don't like the shades), and Genji skins are top tier. Most of the dance emotes are great too (Pharah's is bad in my opinion). And I love the Orisa laugh and sit emotes.

I was expecting a new QP/comp map, tbh, and was holding out hope for Doomfist. It's nice that they're supporting their arena community, but but but...

My 11 win streak and 2 more the other day gave me + ~600 SR and shot me up to around 2840, from 2049. Motivated by not being able to play along a PSN friend in list which was 3200 SR. Was a nice run. Now I'm 2600 something something though, lost all 3 matches I played with the guy and his team, they probably don't want me anymore though, lol.

So Im getting back into OW again and I was chrious if there was an update on new modes? Not like CTF which feels unbalanced, or 3v3 or elimination. But a more core mode to the existing originals


Has anything been considered or talked about?

Id still love a hybrid between the Escort and flag capping modes. Like a tug of war.

It feels kinda small for an anniversary. They could've unlocked all the previous game modes inside the Arcade and give one themed loot box for winning.... or have a game mode with the launch day character stats, just because.

Having Uprising really close to this was a bad idea too, IMO.

So after I recently tried out Paladins and quite enjoyed it I spoke to some people about it and basically they recommend me to give Overwatch a shot because in their opinion it is the superior game. Now I have played some Overwatch in one of those free weekends on Xbox last year and if I gotta compare the two Overwatch definitely feels more like a AAA experience and the level design clearly felt more clever.

But strangely enough gameplay wise it didn't entirely grab me. Now this was during a time I was busy with a lot of SP games whereas right now I'm in the mood for MP fun. Overwatch is now on sale on Xbox for about 40 bucks and I can also get a hard copy for 30 bucks here. Not bad at all. But I will wait for Friday and play the crap out of it, if I end up digging it I'll buy it.

Last but not least......

Any recommendations for a beginner like me? Maybe a certain character I should start with to get a good idea of things? Any general advice for a noob like me? :)

Mystery heroes can be a tough time if you're new but it lets you try out a bunch of heroes for awhile until you die. A good way to try out a bunch of characters in a real game (outside the training lab) without committing to them or worrying about team composition.

Soldier 76 is the goto beginner character, easy to use, a simple ultimate, can heal himself. Mercy is a pretty good beginning support character. But ultimately I think that like a fighting game, once you click with a character, it becomes a lot more fun (why I always suggest mystery heroes).
