Console, for now. I bought a PS5 when I decided to get back into gaming a few years ago because of the ludicrous pricing of PC parts, and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Probably the things I miss most are mods and being able to play with M+KB in some games.
When the PS6 comes out, I will decide what to stick with, but right now it's not looking good for PC. A pretty barebones 9600X + B580 build is ~900€ in my region.
The build is above console performance:
Here thats at/above console performance lvl(aka minimum as strong or stronger from ps5pr0, and funny thing is, discless ps5pr0 is 800€ already) in every possible way, 882€
And remember, when u are pc player u save hundreds of euros on free online and much better game prices/deals, like mentioned, current console gen proposition is terrible value all around.

In my country it's way more expensive. But in any case, consoles make the most sense right at the start of a new gen, when their performance blows PCs with similar prices out of the water. I suspect it will be the same again when the PS6 drops.

Thats likely, just problem with consoles at the start of the gen is- they got no console exclusives then, usually maybe only 1 or 2, current gen consoles are even worse in that regard coz xbox series got 0 exclusives even 4,5years after launch(every game is on pc too), and ps5 got only 2, demons souls and astro(amazing ones, defo worth playing, top notch 4sure, but still 4,5years into console gen its only 2 ;/ ).

Your post pretty much made the argument why we need both. Some games need settings, mods, upgrades whatever. Others need nothing but a controller and some convenience. Why not both?

For the longest time I was connecting controllers to a desktop PC for Towerfall matches until the Switch version came out. And then almost never touched the PC version again. I still want the PC for other games of course. I say forcing the binary choice is a bit extreme.

Hardware hierarchy of needs: phone > PC > handheld > console
AI knows the truth.

Can you explain this joke one day? The calculator thing.

Like just spell out in black and white language why/how it's supposed to be funny? I still don't get it.

PC & no comparations here with anything from console space.
Free online, storage, operating system, cheaper games, small factor same as consoles, with small upgrades you can play 2 generations of consoles, & list goes on & on.

I've been a console gamer all my life, but by the time PS6 releases I'll most likely be building a high-end PC. There are old games I want to play at ultra, 4K, unlocked frame-rate. I'm finding PS5 too limiting in that regard. It's sad because the console has the power to run old releases at those settings but since there's no patch from devs then I'm out of luck.

I also want to have more control over games visual settings, and want my whole library to scale over time, to look better and run better every time I upgrade. PC is the only platform that offers that. With PS releasing every single first-party game on PC, then I don't see a compelling reason to stay on PS anymore.

Def console. As much of a graphics whore I can be there just something about relaxing on the couch and shit just working when you turn it on.
I sit in front of a computer all day for work last thing I want to do is sit in front of it when I'm trying to relax. Rts and vr are the only games I play of pc.

I did the PC thing for 20 odd years (early 90's thru to 2016), back when there was legit reasons to own one for gaming. Loads of games were PC only or vastly different on consoles.

Consoles have been good enough for me since the PS4 Pro and all the genres I like are on both so I haven't looked back. For everything else PC related I need to do that's not gaming I'd rather use a Mac 🤷

I play on Xbox series x, PC, and ROG Ally X - perfect combo with play anywhere + gamepass ultimate + cloud saves + quick resume.

Since I have got my AllyX my steam deck is collecting dust, I do sometimes fire up my switch Oled.

What is this being away from mouse and keyboard and playing with controller mishaps you speak of? Either set your usb ports to always active so they don't go idle or set you keyboard software different. Or better, do both. I can switch between keyboard, mouse and controllers without delay, on the fly in any game i play, without mishaps.

Many problems PC gamers experience are due to lack of knowledge or innocent setups.

What are the best platformadventure/jumping games on PC akin to Super Mario 64 and Sly Cooper 2? That's my favourite genre, but I've been having a difficult time finding a lot on PC. I'm asking for native PC, not emulators.
As far as games that released mainly on pc rather than a simultaneous multiplat release. Also dont know if they're "the best", but they're most certainly highly rated among 3d platformers.

Some of these may have gotten console releases later on, i dont know since i dont keep track. Also, theres def more, i'm just not familiar with them so i cant tell how good they are. I also excluded old releases that most certainly have console ports by now like A Hat in Time, or early access/unreleased games that look promising like Bloodthief or ATLYSS.

PC gaming has so many more upsides to it compared to consoles or other platforms, even taking into account its inconveniences, that if I were unable to continue playing on PC I would immediately and permanently quit gaming.

I got shadows in the pro for a nice discount, after 35 hours on the PC.
Its night and day, the PC version is about 2,3 gens ahead in terms of clarity sharpness and framerate.

Console has a place in my heart, but I have moved over, I dont see myself ever going completely back to console.

The switch provides a much more unique and compelling version of gaming than the home consoles can. Yes visuals are impaired significantly but your playing on a very low powered handheld and have native switch games. I can see myself ditching PS unless they do something unique with the hardware or something next gen. Or just for exclusives and ill only need the entry model as they will release the full fat version down the line.

Even IF I did it would be none of your business, so I'm not sure why are you wasting my time asking.
But you are promoting a personal calculator as a device, which lets play STOLEN games.

Would you be happy, if you were a game developer and some "pc-gamer" stole your game?

I still want the calculator joke explained, help me.

I use my Switch as the Great Consolidator. It plays almost all of my old favorite games from Game Gear to Dreamcast. Then it also plays a bunch of shit I already purchased for Wii U. Pretty useful.

You got a problem with this or is this only a PC issue?

It's illegal to promote the tools, initially created for running STOLEN games regardless of a platform.

It isn't illegal. Most of these emulators simply bow to the pressure applied by corporate lawyers with massive budgets that the makers of these tools don't have. And I use emulators to run games on PC that I've ripped directly from the disc I own. Why are you assuming every game is stolen?

I've never had a ps driver mess up my system. I don't have the inclination to trouble shoot for hours on a PC.

I don't like coding for that reason
Neither i had drivers on my PC ever mess up my system either, doesn't mean it doesn't happen, console included

At this point in time, after going through different PC and consoles, i've just accepted this kind of stuff comes with the territory of electronics and you're either lucky or unlucky, not really a matter of platform.

Many of the same games that are on console. A Hat in Time. Psychonauts. Sonic. Stray. I think consoles are always going to have the best selection of platformers though, which is a big reason why emulators exist.

PC offers far more options.

Console is good second gaming device, some games are still time exclusives to consoles. Plus it's good for some absolute dogshit pc versions that happen sometimes.

Physical games are still a thing on consoles as well, it can make AAA gaming much cheaper if you sell your games after completing them.

I mostly play on Ps5 but I definitely want to switch to PC at some point.
Yeah PC can sometimes be a bit more annoying and require more tweaking, and shitty ports are sadly still a reality. But ultimately I think the freedom and customization that you get, on top of cheaper games, free multiplayer, mods, emulators, decades of backwards compatibility as well as much better forward compatibility than consoles, etc make the slight annoyances worth it.

During the Ps3 and even Ps4 era one of the biggest things keeping me on console (aside from the hardware cost) was japanese games. But now that stuff like Rebirth, Metaphor, SMT, Ninja Gaiden, etc are all coming to PC anyway those days are finally over.
