can't believe i forgot to transfer PT over with all my other games.. at least it's still on the PS4.
Wrong thread maybe, but what do you guys recommend on Final Fantasy XV? High or Low?

This Digital Foundry video should be useful for you.Yes to HDMI 1. The only HDR setting I see is this:
Unpatched game is the same as playing on the OG PS4, so whatever the resolution is on PS4.
Of course you will get 4k if you have chosen 4k as your output, but the rendering resolution is the same as on PS4.
Yesterday I had my first problem since owning my PS4 PRO and a Samsung 6300 4K TV, when I turn on the PS4, the TV and my receiver, I can hear the PS4 on in the background but the TV was telling me that there was not a signal through the HDMI 1 port. I turned off the PS4, disconnected and re-connected the HDMI cable and all was working fine again. Anyone ran through this problem before? By the way, the PS4 is connected directly to the TV and I'm using the optical audio from the PS4 through the receiver, since the receiver doesn't support 4K.
So if the console is set to output video at 4K but the game content is still 900p then the PS4 will scale the 900p res to 4K (not the TV)?

this...never even occured to me.
i'm guessing my reciever won't support 4k either given the fact it's about 5 years old, which is going to make setting up the pro a bit more annoying then i wanted it to be *le sigh*
EDIT:
then again, i don't have a 4k TV. does the HDMI and receiver still need to support 4k to allow for downsampling? i'm guessing it does?
at the moment i have all my systems connected to my receiver via HDMI, and then that connects to my TV. will my PS4 Pro work with that set up if the receiver doesn't support 4k, even though i'm going to be using a 1080p TV? or will i have to connect the PS4 direct to the TV and run an optical from the PS4 to the receiver? i want to know if i should order an optical cable.
cheers
If you have a 1080p TV you shouldn't have a problem of passing the signal through your receiver, that's how I had it setup before upgrading my TV to a 4K and it worked great with my current receiver. Only if you upgrade to a 4K TV is when you need to upgrade your receiver or look for another audio solution like myself without upgrading the receiver.
With supersampling the higher resolution image business is all happening on the PS4 Pro, the image that the Pro sends out to you if you're using a 1080p panel is a 1080p image. The issues that you appear to be expecting would only potentially be an issue if you had a 1080p HDR compatible panel but, you don't, because there aren't any...yet.so i'd still get the benefits of supersampling using my old receiver? if so that's great. less hassle. tbh it's the connecting/ disconnecting of stuff from my current set up that usually puts me off upgrading/buying new consoles in the first place. the easier this all turns out, the better.
Troubleshooting assistance please!
I'm attempting to initiate the data transfer from my OG PS4 to my new Pro. The Pro can't find the PS4. "No PS4 found" is the error.
Situation:
- I'm only signed into PSN on my new Pro; I'm not signed into PSN at all on my OG. That should be fine, right?
- I'm signed into my OG locally as a new generic 'User1'; also, should be fine?
- Both systems are connected together via a LAN cable (do I need a special kind of cable, or a standard Ethernet cable will do?)
- Both systems are online on the same WiFi network, and both pass Connection Tests successfully
What do?
Damn. Just checked the data transfer and it's still and 9 hours with only 78gb out of 476 completed.
Guess it will be PC gaming today. 😀
For all new Pro owners, in case you missed the other thread, check the notifications on your system for a $10 code to redeem on PSN. Code expires by the end of the month, but have to imagine the wallet credit after redeeming the code should be permanent (not sure though).
Sounds like people who got a Pro in November should be getting one, but doesn't sound like everyone has gotten a code yet. But just check your notifications on the PS4. I didn't get an email and probably would have missed it before it expired if I didn't see the other thread.
Cancel, make sure 1gbit is supported in the whole chain and you will be done in not even an hour.
Pretty sure you should be logged in on both.
Not possible. As soon as you sign into PSN on one it boots you on the other.
Anyway, I decided to try connecting both systems to my router via LAN, instead of directly to each other. Worked right away. Weird.

Considering picking up a Pro; have a question: is it 100% confirmed that all future PS4 games will have Pro support?
That's way slow. Try a different cable. I did 1.3TB in four hours.I just have them hooked to each other with an Ethernet cable. Don't think I have anything but regular cat 5 cables here so not sure what else I'd need. In any case, not willing to run out and get something and have plenty to play on PC so playing more FFXV can wait until later tonight or tomorrow. 😀

Hot damn. I picked up Ratchet and Clank today. Just starting playing it now. Looks absolutely amazing on the Pro.
HDR seems to turn to on by default. I don't seem to have a way to turn it off. Just wanted to see if I could flick between on and off to see differences.
To do it the other way you just needed the original PS4 on and signed in and then sign in in the new one and the transfer option should have came up and found the old one etc.
You should be able to find out the speed of your cables as they should all carry a CATegory rating on them, like this one does. It's over 100 GB through now, so I'll just let it finish. Don't want to lose all that progress if other cables I have are just as old/slow. Still at 8 hours remaining, so definitely must be an old cable or something. Odd as the cable I was using was between the Tivo and the router (just unplugged temporarily to do the transfer), and the that's TiVo mini in another room via a 50ft Ethernet cable also hooked up to the router streams just fine so I'd think that cable was up to snuff speed wise.
I'm was getting a little burnt out on FFXV anyway after dumping 15 hours into it the past couple of days so I could stand getting back to Inside on PC anyway. Getting ready to fire that up now that I'm done working.

Well, wow guys, I'm a huge believer now. Purchase totally vindicated. I was already impressed that the damn PS4 UI/Menus looked more gorgeous in 4K, but then I actually went in and turned HDR/RGB on, and booted up FFXV. Jesus Christ, what a huge fucking difference. The screen is practically luminescent and exceptionally vibrant. I'd seen a couple of UHD/HDR movies on my set (which came with the TV) so I knew what to expect, but was still blown away.
Like, I can't even describe how much I'm impressed, after thinking that the difference was just going to be incremental. FFXV on this 65" 4KTV on an OG PS4 actually looked downright ugly at times. The jaggies, the muted colours, the iffy frame rate. It's so gorgeous now. I knew I was wasting the potential of this TV. So glad I bought the Pro. Horizon's gonna be gorgeous.
I tried this, but the Pro denied me signing in - said I was signed in already on another PS4.
Well... you aren't getting HDR and RGB at the same time. HDMI2.0 only supports 8bit RGB, HDR is 10bit. So, in HDR mode, you are using 4:2:0 compression in order to fit 10bit color into the bandwidth instead of RGB's 4:4:4.
Oh...well it still looks beautiful. I just followed the general advice to flip video output to RGB and then put HDR on, and didn't get any errors, haha.
The consensus is to go with HDR on for sure, yeah?
Gezzzzz....
Star Wars Battlefront looks really rough on Pro at 4K.
I know it's not a Pro Enhanced Game (I hope to see a pro patch with the VR MISSION) but I don't remember the game had so much aliasing.
Is there a way to balance the 900p jagged mess at 4K on the Samsung TV? Or just set the PS4 output to 1080p should do?

Hey guys. Would the Ps4 Pro look and play well on a 1080p Projector?
This is incorrect, PS4 Pro also supports 12bpc YUV422 output. But yeah, PS4 Pro only does HDR through YUV 4:2:0. That's also the same settings UHD BluRay players use for it. HDMI2.0 just can't do any better.
