PlayStation 4 Pro |Launch Thread| PS4 Reloaded

Dude, I love this system. This is coming from a guy with a pretty awesome PC that plays 4K games on it. I know that I'm not entirely getting Very High setting at 4K on the PS4, but it blows my mind that they can even get a game to run at 4K on this system for 400 bucks. Titanfall 2 looks so good. Last of Us, goddamn at 4K HDR, sweet baby Jesus. The game that really blew me away was Uncharted 4. How the fuck was Naughty Dog able to get this game to run at 4K??? Amazing. I will still probably buy third party games on PC just because of the price. I never pay full price for PC games. But PS4 Pro is making it really difficult for me to upgrade my PC to the inevitable 1080 TI when that releases next year.

I haven't even hooked up my VR yet. Super excited for the weekend.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
So after playing for a few hours I don't know what to think.
Games like RotTR the difference is obvious by having different settings, you can see it.
But it's hard to tell if it's any difference with other games with no settings
What I'm saying is, if a PS4 is already 1080p it's hard to tell the difference without a point of reference
But I think this is will be good for under performing games on OG PS4

Enhanced mode looks to have improvements beyond what the very high maxed out setting can do.

Hey guys. I've only played MWR on my PS4 pro so far.

Is infinite Warfare 4K HDR? Would it be a good example of what to look for in terms of lovely graphics?

Or Uncharted 4? I hear it's just 1440p.

Which do you think would show off the graphics most

Conflicted whether to buy one today or wait a couple weeks in hopes of a sweet deal. My target has one PS4 pro left and I could use that 10% coupon + 5% red card deal but at the moment there is nothing I want to play on the PS4. I have a gaming PC already and sold my OG PS4 a couple months ago in anticipation for the Pro so I already played all the games I wanted previously except UC4 (will likely be dirt cheap on BF so another reason to maybe wait). I definitely will buy one however if FFXV turns out to be good and than there is TLG a week later. What to do what to do...

so far with the games that "only" downsample to 1080p, it is easy to see crisper resolution, but to some people this is not huge. It is similar to people buying new gpu to play at higher res, no jaggies... i really cant notice any jaggies anymore in games i tried (R&C and Infamous).

More interesting is some games having more things upgraded and unlocked fps.

But most interesting is in PSVR, where there is night/day difference between the two, no matter how much you care about picture iq.

I have a PSVR. Gotta wait until after work to try it. I have 15 games already lol.

Gamestop actually took my OG ps4 with the warranty stickers removed. Didn't think they would, but figured why not. They didn't even care as long as it worked

MW and Infinite Warfare are not HDR.

Uncharted 4 has HDR.

Finally having one at home to play with on my E6 OLED and wowzers. Must own if you have a 4K HDR TV

I'm a home but Ratchet looks absolutely insane.

Played some Infinite Warfare too and it looks awesome.

Stoked to do more TF2, BF1 and Hitman too

BB didn't even care if my PS4 worked. They just copied the numbers off the unit and took it. They did rip me off but w/e I didn't want to put in any more effort into selling it.

So my Pro will sometimes give a high pitch noise but if I put a little pressure on the top it stops. Kind of like it's rattling around sort of. Anyone else experience this?

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
Sooo, just to be clear: Just Cause 3 isn't getting a patch , right?

Not sure how I feel about the machine so far.

Seems like there are some hiccups that need to be addressed. I had to go into safe mode to get the machine to run at 2160p.

Getting my LG OLED delivered today and have a question. How can I get 4K HDR if my receiver doesn't support HDR pass through? Is there a way to plug the pro directly into the TV, then somehow still have surround sound coming thorough my system using another HDMI cable?

I'll go to the trouble of trading in my PS4 for one if they patch Bloodborne to benefit framerate-wise and probably never before then.

Yes use the ARC enabled HDMI on your TV.

Grrreetings comrades, I have a dumb question for owners of both PS4 Pro and PS VR.

The HDMI cable 2.0 that was shipped with the PS4 Pro is the one I should put in the HDMI TV port of the PS VR processor box, is that right ?

How do I do that?

Let's say I also want to hook up and xbox one s using the same method along with having the built in tv apps utilize my surround sound system. What does the cable routing look like in that scenario?

No, I don't have PSVR.

Presuming you have your KS8000 now, using the out-of-the-box settings you will indeed get YUV 4K without HDR support. To enable RGB + HDR go to the TV's settings area under Picture > Expert Settings > HDMI UHD Color and change the setting to On for the HDMI input you're using.

The PS4 Pro should auto-detect the change if you're still in Auto mode and will pick RGB automatically. At least that's how it worked for me.

One HDMI cable runs from an ARC-enabled receiver's output to the ARC-enabled HDMI port on your television. One HDMI cable runs from each of your devices that you aren't planning to route through the receiver (PS4 Pro and Xbox One S, presumably.) That's it, except for whatever settings you need on your receiver and television to enable ARC communication.

When you're watching something from the receiver the HDMI cable between it and your television routs video to the TV. When you're watching one of your 4K game systems (or using a smart TV feature like integrated NetFlix) the same cable routs audio back from the television to your receiver. You may need to select a receiver input that represents the external audio source.

Love hearing his especially after all the haters kept slamming me for saying the Pro would have PC-caliber graphics. I can live without very high settings.

Have a look at your manual for what HDMI port has ARC HDMI port some TVs call it CEC. Then enable it and enable it on your AVR. Then the surround will pass through the ARC HDMI back to your receiver. I have to do it with mine as I can't pass through 4k.
