Playstation 5 Pro reveal youtube video has more than 150k dislikes right now

$699 is pretty good entry price for new owners. I know it is expensive relative to historic expectations of a console.

But times have changed, 2TB ssd with PSN subs, works really really well. boomer gamers are in for a rude shock. All those silly dislikes will regrats.

$699 is not much if you are seeking some form of entertainment.

Though i think Sony fubar by not including the stand.

Except on PC you have backwards compatibility with whatever you want, emulation, free online and cheaper games.

Oh, and PC components go down in price over time which is exactly the opposite of PS5!

You can also use a PC for other things. We have several in the house. For work and for school (children). Does the PS5 Pro allow working from home? No? Then it's not a replacement for a PC. Can I put the children on the PS5 so that they can do their school work? No, neither? Then it doesn't replace the PC. A PC is just a bit more than a gaming machine and multimedia toy.

Because (as evidenced by the promo video) the step up in fidelity is actually hardly noticeable.
But the promo video could only afford* to show Sony first party titles, which obviously all have competent Performance Modes already looking great.

This machine is mainly made for what's to come, and to fix current crappy looking titles such as Alan Wake 2, Jedi: Survivor, Wukong, DD2, etc.

*DF explained how you, as Sony, can't obviously showcase the work of other developers looking like shit.
Even if it would have obviously made for a much more effective reveal, they were forced to use their own material.

Not sure 'Sony could only show their own stuff, and none of it was good enough to justify the price tag' is exactly what you'd call a win.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

Agree, the PS5Pro should have cost $900 given the drastic improvement, so $700 is Sony being generous and a fantastic price point

More like "Sony could only show what are basically PS4 native titles, already close to 4K 60fps on a regular PS5, therefore not effectively showcasing what this machine is going to do once current gen effectively starts, or on third party titles that already look like crap on regular PS5".

But eh, was pretty clear already so I'm not expecting to get much out of penguinz0 audience.

Stop the fucking trolling.
I mean it's not even clever trolling.. feels to me legit like those awkward old weirdos trying to be funny.

But hey, still managed to fool enough people apparently.

It’s clever enough to get a pass from the mods and get enragement reactions. He’s been playing this retard Sony pony act for years and creating threads non-stop.
Guess he also gets a pass for simply being here since 2012.

Valve needs to step up game, release Steam Console again, but this time with proper games support in Linux and with SteamOS it's gonna work, and kill these funny consoles already.

I think we’re getting PS Portal reveal all over again. Are people liking the price? No, of course not. Pro is expensive.

Will people upgrade? Yeah, most definitely. Pro will be in constant backorder for months regardless of YouTube dislikes. Even more so close to GTA VI launch.
100%. And don't forget the DualSense Edge.

Tag, you're it.
So much crying over the price of a product clearly aimed at a minority of enthusiasts.
Because you REALLY think that if the PS5 Pro is selling well, Sony won't price the PS6 at 700/800$ or more (without disk drive & no controller included because why not lmao)

i mean a 2tb samsung ssd alone cost around $200 and add up the more beafy gpu and dedicated hardware for raytracing and IA and you got a ps5 pro.

A $100 less 1TB version and Sony could have avoided this.

Either way I think it will sell well to the 10-15% of people that will buy this like they did with the PS4 Pro.

Correct, they won't sell it at that (I've already explained this but the main mass market console is subsidised at launch expecting to break even after around 3 years, no reason not to expect the same with PS6)

This not funny. Sure you can say Pro + Plus Extra will come to $835

I think it is still affordable to many people looking to waste some time entertaining themselves AND looking for a bit more performance.

Sony is trying to be brave with this "sticker shock" SRP, but look around you, what kind of digital entertainment can you get for $835 these days?

First year is heavy but subsequent years you are paying only Plus Extra subs.

I think console hardware should be more expensive and more aggressive speccs. They are supposed to last you 4-5 years. $699 is cheaper than many TVs you people buy!

The days of $399 consoles are over, unless you are ok with potato base visuals for a whole generation.

It never was near that number. As entrhusiast forum we're kinda skewed and we're buying better kits sooner than later, but broad consumer was more than happy with his base PS4 slim and a lot of people are still happy with it.
My bad, thought the PS4 Pro was released in 2017. When it released in 2016 we had 50m Ps4 sold. In 2020 we had 70m more PS4 sold and 14m were a Pro. That's 20%.

Base console is not a niche product designed to capture a high margin 10% of a broader market.

Price of hardware is going up regardless and it's really unlikely we'll get another high end console launching at less than 599$.
Either people get used to pay for consoles in correlation with what they now pay for all other top electronics products or they will have to make a Series S like console next gen with all the negatives it brings.

About this thread....lol.
Sony knows who they're aiming the product at, it's obviously a minority of enthusiasts with no money issues. Just like they knew that Portal was niche and it still surpassed all expectations.
That people leave a dislike on a youtube video is not gonna change the price unfortunately although for what they're asking the disc drive and the stand should have been included.

I probably won’t buy another Playstation anything, but, if people want to give a donation to multi-billion dollar company Sony then who are any of us to deny them that right. I just want Sony to pay donation level taxes on the money.

What people fail to realize is that this is more or less the exact same reaction to the PS4 Pro which must have been profitable as it got a successor in this console, and while this thing should have come with the stand AT minimum, the forum reaction is very much the same seriously read it, it's funny how it Parelle's, though they skimped on the coverage this time, and showing amazing looking games with an improvement true, but marginal at best, they should have shown the actual improvements and extras rather than focusing mostly on PSSR

I like the hardware and overall concept of 4k60 across the board.

Not picking it right away but bodes well for next xbox and PS6.

Will get cash ready for them cause they will be useful for pretty long.

Complaining about 700 dollars when its FUCKING 800 EUROS!! WTF Sony, why is Europe being shafted?
Some say the tax difference, but that is bullshit. That would make is £749, not £799 it currently is. It’s cheaper in Australia as well!

Sony has zero competition from Xbox in Europe and this is just them taking advantage.

I have a high end PC, there is absolutely nothing for me to justify a PS5 (pro or not).

Also that wasn't the point.
I don't even think you have a point really.

Prices are rising across the board for almost every aspect in society.
What makes you think gaming is excluded?

Do your own conversion with inflation. Hardware price rising up doesn't justify that price especially without a disk reader.

Maybe it doesn't, but I don't care tbh.

And like I said, those who think it's too expensive are free to skip it.
It's not a necessity.

The price in Europe is double of what the PS5 digital launched at. Inflation is a thing, but doubling in cost over the past 4 years hasn’t happened.

Even taking inflation into account as well as the weaker Euro it would come to €539, not €799. Sure you can argue it’s more expensive due to being a more premium product, but an increase of €260? Don’t forgot component costs for manufacturing have dropped significantly since 2020.
