They do that all the time.

In the last 40 minute show in September last year, they showed the following:
- 3 minute trailer for FF16
- 3 minute trailer for Harry Potter
- 7 minute footage of Miles
- 5 minute demo of Demon Souls
- 5 minute CoD black ops demo
- RE8 trailer
- Deathloop trailer
- DMC trailer
- Couple of indie games.

40 minutes just isnt enough to blow anyone away. You are going to get a very by the numbers conference.

I disagree a little bit just because that second conference last year we already had seen Demons Souls, RE8, Deathloop, Miles, etc.

So the only real surprise was FF16.

This year? Sony only has HFW shown. So they have kept a lot of cards close to their chest. There should be a lot more "new" and "surprising" announcements.

If the September show was the first showing for all those games I mentioned before it would have been seen as a total blow away type conference.

Choo Choo!!

How you people can still muster some hype for those events after last few years of constant dissapointment is beyond me.
-They are breaking gaming history records for fastest selling console ever while a almost year after release new shipments still sell out in a few minutes worldwide
-They are breaking gaming history records for biggest amount of games sold for a console console
-They are breaking gaming history records for biggest amount of revenue ever generated by a console maker
-They are breaking gaming history records in other areas like in social media engagement
-Their exclusives are selling better than ever and dominated the GOTY awards during the last decade and they
-Most of their recent exclusives (GoTDC, Ratchet, Guilty Gear Strive, FFVIIR Intergrade, Returnal...) get great reviews

Instead of showing people being dissapointed with them, all key metrics show people is really engaged and hyped with them to record levels. Seems that a ton of players love their games and consoles.

So are we expecting anything exciting or is this just more blue box nonsense hype?
I bet this will be the most viewed and important gaming conference of the year. Looking at how Sony people like Hermen, Yoshida or even a guy from their Malaysia studio are hyping it on Twitter, seems this is going to be really exciting.

This one won't happen, Konami recently signed with the The Medium guys to make the next Silent Hill, so it will be too early to announce it. They will focus here on 2021 and 2022 games instead.
The fact that the deal between Konami and Bloober was announced in the last couple of months doesn't mean that it is a new deal by any means, as the studio has been working on the franchise for quite some time already. On top of that, you gotta keep in mind that Bloober's project ain't the only Silent Hill title in development at the moment... and that the one that's a soft-reboot of the series is expected to come out in 2022.

Bloober has been working on The Medium and they are a small team, couldn't be working on another AAA/AA game at the same time. Maximum they had some basic preproduction stuff and a small prototype for Silent Hill before they announced the deal.

This must be the only Silent Hill in development since Konami doesn't have any reason to be working in multiple Silent Hill games at the same time because their effort on console games has been very low in the recent years and Silent Hill never has been a big seller to justify it.

So if Konami has another unannounced AAA (or AA being realistic) in the works it would be pretty likely of another IP that sells better, not a second Silent Hill unless it's for mobile or pachinkos. Metal Gear Rising 2 by Platinum o Team Ninja, a Metal Gear remake by Bluepoint, a new Castlevania by Mercury Steam or someone else, or most likely some of the Japanese only shit that sells well there like those baseball games. It would be dumb to have two Silent Hills in the works when Konami is barely interested in AAA console gaming in the recent years outside soccer, it wouldn't make sense.

There are zero reasons to think they are working a second Silent Hill. For Konami standards they are already making a huge effort making a Silent Hill with Bloober.

Dude, Bloober simultaneously works on multiple games all the time and it has been of general knowledge for a while now that the studio had another major project in the works with Akira Yamaoka involved as a composer. And it doesn't stops there, because in February of this year one of the Bloober higher-ups stated: "We’ve been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher", which means that their Silent Hill game has most likely been in the works since late 2019.

And that's not all you're wrong in. Konami is indeed working on several Silent Hill games, as Andy Robinson from VGC has mentioned several times throughout this year the existence of a Japanese-developed Silent Hill title which is due for an announcement this summer. And for what its worth, DuskGolem has backed up VGC's reports, saying that he has basically heard similar informations through his own sources.

Don't take this personally, but you shouldn't act so cocky making claims like "there are zero reasons to think they are working on a second Silent Hill" when you seem to have no clue at all about this particular topic.

I've got a gaming PC so the Xbox side of games is covered via GamePass. Thank you based Phil for that. I love the service and the games and fantastic job on the Xbox Series S. Fuck you if you put down the Series S as shit. We can't be friends and you're now my enemy 😂

Now lets see what Sony has in store for us. I've long since longed for a reason to pick up a PS5 as soon as possible but Sony's silence over the past few months have made me decide against getting one now. If they can pull of a cracking show, I'll get back to purchasing one before year end if possible.
Only negative is that where I'm located PS5 is in very high demand so waiting lists are a thing :(

DuskGollem has been right some times, but also proven to be a liar many times, as are many other 'leakers' who have been mentioning fake Silent Hill rumors (some of them even involving Kojima or saying Sony wa going to develop it for Konami) or summer Sony events that never happened, VGC maybe just believed some of these weak ass rumors. And to work during more than a year can be just on pitches, prototypes and small preproduciton stuff I mentioned, they only have a main project on production at the same time. Their next project with Yamaoka is Silent Hill.

I still think there are zero chances of Konami working on a 2nd Silent Hll in addition to the Bloober one. Nobody included you and VGC shown any solid clue leading to think it's the case. And maybe someone knew Yamaoka was going to work with Konami on a Silent Hill with an external studio so thought it was to be developed by a Japanese one instead of Bloober and told that to Andy, and then when realized it wasn't the case didn't want to rectify to don't look like a liar or something like that.

Are you tell me now that Japan Studio is working on it? That Sony has tons of bigger IPs and can create new ones but they want to develop a game for another publisher using an IP that sells way worse than the ones they make? That isntead of being working in the hack 'n slash horror game they shown recently Bokeh is working on a Silent Hill instead? That after getting Silent Hills cancelled and being fired from Konami Kojima will want to work again with them? Go with your tin foil hat to somewhere else.

I know people here write off Silent Hill since blooper team is working on it, but we shouldn’t forget that nearly all rumors said that two Silent Hill projects are in development and one of them by a Japanese developer. So I think there is a chance that there will be a Silent Hill Game. And full disclosure I believe it to be from Kojima/Hasan.

Anyway even if there is the Silent Hill Game from blooper team, who wants to actually play it. Silent Hill is my favorite franchise of all time, but a Silent Hill from blooper team is not a real Silent Hill title for me. Only Japanese developers understands Japanese horror enough to make a real Silent Hill Game.

The rumors like the ones who said Kojima or Japan Studio were working on it? They were obviously fake. There's only one Silent Hill being developed and a western studio is making it (with obviously a Japanese publisher, Yamaoka as freelance composer, etc).

Proof? The rumor didn’t say Kojima or Japan studio, it just mention a Japanese game designer. Also since Konami is starting to outsource some projects, why shouldn’t they give the IP to two studios to make a game. That means more money at the end for Konami, so why shouldn’t they do that?

I don't have the links now, but while ago some of these 'leakers' mentioned Kojima and (obviously before it got restructured) Japan Studio. Meanwhile Kojima was working on Death Stranding PC port and Death Strading Director's Cut, and people in Japan Studio was getting fired and they were restructuring the studio while working on Astro's Playroom.

Since many years ago Konami doesn't make big console games outside their football game. So if they have two at the same time, it would make more sense to make them about different IPs because it's what companies do to diversify their catalog. Specially they won't bet two times on the same time on the same IP when this IP (Silent Hill) isn't one of their best selling ones.

Konami now invests more in mobile games and stuff like that instead of in big console games because it's what it is more profitable for them. And is working better for them than when they were releasing way more big console games.

That is a weak argument, even if it is less profitable for them, since the outsource it they don’t have to do much and only Cash in.

Also the rumors about a second famous Japanese developer working also on Silent Hill is not do old and came out when the partnership between Konami and blooper team has been announced.

Also since Akira Yamaoka already teased that a game would be announced which everyone is hoping to hear about in the summer, what would be better fitting than a Silent Hill Game.

It seems that Playstation Studio Malasya will gonna be there. My question is the new playstation Studio in Santa Monica will be there to?

Sony seems very confident this time, that it will be a great showcase. Normally they always try somehow to lower expectations, this time they are doing the opposite and even say this one will be a good one.

I try to keep my expectations in check, but Sony does not make it easy for me.

"One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us!"
