well hype VASTLY decreased after this presentation.

the combat seems some clunky ass free flow batman shit with simple attacks and counter, precanned death animations and gore without ragdoll, he hits 2 enemy with the bow and they both have that ridicolous same animation that doens't take into account the angle, the point you hit and the cinetic force of the arrow (just watch rdr2 or tlou1 bow hit reaction to understand the difference).

the stealth seems bog standard with multiple automatic takedown ala arkham knight, but maybe the final game it's gonna be more varied.

the video quality was horrible so hard to judge the graphic but i'm not really that impressed except for the windy vegetation.

really really unimpressed with the combat.

i know a lot of people don't care about stuff like death animations, ragdoll etc, but to me it looks pretty stiff, i don't know how to put down what i think with better words, it lack physicality and looks almost scripted and fake for lack of better words.

Way to go showing a game! The combat looks crazy good, both samurai and ghost, exactly what I was hoping for.
Need to know more how this actually controls and re-watch direct feed asap as youtube compression sucked hard.
All good with there actually being a waypoint system this subtle. And that B&W mode, what a winner

Aesthetically, it looks and sounds amazing. What they showed of gameplay? Still a bit up in the air. Combat is a mix of old-Assassin's Creed with some Sekiro mixed in. How will all of these systems hold up after 40 hours or 80 hours (or however long it is)? How will the pacing of the story and the progression path be? Will there be 100 shipyards to clear, or will they inject variety into things? All hard to say at this point, but it looks like it has potential. I'm calling it a 7.0-8.0'ish game from what I've seen so far, I hope to be pleasantly surprised when it launches in a few months, I'm sure I'll end up getting it regardless.

Luv how the enemies aren't damage sponges. They die in like one slash. This is what assassin's creed could have evolved into. But doesn't the wind and animals to guide you kind of negate the point of exploration with no waypoints? I mean it still the exact same outcome, just with no ugly map markers.

It would have just been nice if they explained it a little better. For example, can I manually aim my throwables? Based on what I saw, no. That would be nice to do.

You didn't manually throw firecrackers in Sekiro and it turned out great, you just press s button and they are thrown around your character.

What will be important is whether the combat has any real depth. For example the stances, different weapons being available, different support weapons, how the parry mechanics work and how it all scales with difficulty.

If the game is too basic and easy even on the highest difficulty then I'll lose my interest fast.

Shorter than I expected and the core gameplay loop looked very generic. I absolutely LOVED the colors and lack of minimap with an actually coherent way to guide you through the world. Combat looked alright, but I don't think they showed enough. Stealth was ND levels bad.

I'm still a believer in SP and I'm going to buy this day one. Loved their entire catalogue. However, Sony absolutely sucks ass at these Direct like events. This should have been a home run and they instead churned out a boring short presentation that made it look like a Ubisoft game. I'm going to give SP the benefit of the doubt here.

Really like the colors though.

Seriously funny seeing how people for the most party overwhelmingly laud Breath of the Wild as one of the best open world games ever and then I see tons of comments already like:

Combat seems really simple and bland.
Crap generic stealth.
The world seems empty.
Downgrade.
They didn't show any story.

All of these which could be easily leveled and are actually very applicable to Breath of the Wild.

People need to realize that great games are more than the sum of their parts and that you really don't know until you play them.

So this and Paper Mario on the same day, eh?

Anyways, Day one.

Thoughts: I hate 3rd person over-the-shoulder shit but I'll let this one slide.

Sucker punch should make a ninja game next

This might be the only game that I might play with Japanese voices and not feel "lost". Okay, playing this with JP voices is more immersive.

But sekiro's combat was much more in depth - compared to this I haven't seen anything to sell me on it. It wasn't a great demonstration if the game is going to have a lot of depth.

now we have to wait if theres an Video of that stream uploaded in proper 4k or at least unkompressed 1080p.. That stream was horrible..

Yeah, my stream at least was pretty muddy. I bet we get linked to a raw upload soon. That's why I am holding off "downgraded!" or "better than next gen!" I need a better quality video to watch. Strictly graphics wise it looked really good, but I need to properly inspect what I can

I think the game is beyond beautiful, an art form you can say, the music and effects are incredible too.

vistas, horizons look breathtaking.

I do have a few concerns about the combat, the stealth bit esp, i can not put my finger of it but i felt very disappointed with the stealth combat of the game, maybe i need to re-watch it a couple of times or see it in different scenarios.

I feel like i was expecting something different to what i saw on that front.

Nomatter what a Sony studio does, it wouldn't be good for the people commenting negatively here.... they just hate sony and playstation.

The game looks phenomenal and they are jealous cause they have NOTHING like it. Take it as a compliment and let them back to looking at their spec sheet...

I literally said we don't know about the depth yet...

If that's important to you and nothing else matters then wait and see what else is said about it in the run up to release or wait until the game releases to read impressions/reviews.

Totally. Although, I have a feeling it might be a trick there.
Like, make the timing right garantees the kill, otherwise is a slash.

Yeah I basically have the same opinion..

Didn't want to say too much about the graphics because I don't care THAT MUCH... but it just didn't look great. Maybe was the stream quality though.

For me

Pros
- Art direction and colour pallet
- Japanese voice track. I’m so glad the option is there
- Foliage is great and perhaps best I’ve seen, adds heavily to the setting
- Soundtrack seems awesome
- Customisations seem fun
- I liked the Ghost mode and options that were shown

Cons
- Samurai mode seemed to be simple. Ala press the win button to win whilst enemies run at you. Definitely need to see more.
- Would have been nice to get an example of how you progress in the game. Even a side quest. Something to show how you interact with other characters in the game other than MDK.

I kind of got Witcher vibes from this showing, which ain’t a bad thing. It’s a game I want to like. It was a decent showing overall and I’m more interested now than before!

Praise the fucking sun.

Although I loathed BOTW for all of the things you mentioned plus a lot more so I will dump this game in an instant if it turns out like that after the first couple of hours.

The combat looks incredibly boring, maybe not as bad as Witcher 3 but not much better.
The world is something I would love to explore and has nice art direction. Definitely not the best ever this gen but looks very good.

Yeah, that's sort of what you'd kind of expect to see in an 18-minute demonstration of a game that comes out in 2 months and we've seen little to nothing of.

I'm getting tenchu vibes from this which I love and I'm definitely going to try complete the game using stealth first if I can , I do feel like the combat was nothing new although I like the small subtle animations like how he flicks the blood off his samurai when going to sheath it after a kill , I didn't see many NPC's around while on his travels in the video but we never saw him enter a village really and I'm not expecting it to be jam packed of villagers in the country side because there's an ongoing Mongol Invasion outside so I guess people would be locked up safley inside village walls so I am expecting to see lots of NPC's inside the villages all in all its a great looking game to end the gen with .

Watching this back at 4k. I know there is still YT compression though. If I am being super nit picky, at the 5:05 mark you see some average textures on the shack, for example. Again, don't get me wrong, Other than a few environmental textures seeming average, everything else looks really good. I am not even saying the textures I mention look bad, I realize it is a big open world game on current gen consoles, so not everything is gonna have 8k assets.

I wonder if it gets a PS5 patch or a full PS5 release? Pop-in looks pretty minimal from what I am seeing. Wonder how far the PS5 could push it farther
