Point n Click Adventure GAF 2015 - Back with a vengeance

Can someone explain this puzzle to me (Chaos on Deponia)? Every time I spot a pattern in the mole's/rat's movement it changes...

Or should I just give up on the achievement?

Been playing Randal's Monday hoping since the main guy is a douchebag and since it was Daedalic it'd be funny.

I was sadly mistaken it seems. over 90% of everything said or shown in a scene in this game is just referencing pop culture films and comicbook icons. If you select weird dialogue there isn't really a payoff outside of saying the line you selected...those one liners are the best things in the dialogue that follows so theres no payoff just scoldings mainly. If they held back those comments from Randall as the payoff for selecting something like "Rude answer" or "sarcastic answer" it might be different but as is, the way it centers the jokes spoils them before you can get into them. Plus theres 4th wall breaking in manners that don't do much in it.

Sorely disappointed sadly. Rufus in Deponia got the patterns down properly for how to do a conflict inducing self centered protagonist. Randall just falls flat. Gonna actually quit this one and try something else.

Sweet TLJ3 just hit their funding goal and now onto stretch goals for the last 15 days.

First stretch goal seems to be German text localization. Really happy the KS is doing so well. Very excited for next year!

I should ask them if they can add a stretch goal for PS4+Vita port of the trilogy so far :X

Is the game any good? I've just watched 5 minutes of a let's play and my main impression is that the voice acting is very amateurish, I might still be recommended in the game if someone recommends though.

Just completed Chaos on Deponia, much better than the first game, puzzles are more logical, music isn't annoying and Rufus isn't a sexist asshole anymore. Onto Goodbye Deponia. It's funny how I've had those games since early 2014 and only now got around to play them - seeing them in the Humble Bundle motivated me to clear my backlog as I've bought to many games in sales only to never play them and those games later becoming far cheaper than I bought them for.

having played and completed just about every one of those (actually everything except 1954 alcatraz and a new beginning)... it boggles my mind how many great games that is for $16.

Alpha Polaris is an oldschool adventure game focusing on slow-burning character driven horror and environmental themes. It draws inspiration from such sources as Inuit legends and Cthulhu mythos.

Alpha Polaris was released back in 2011 and finally it hits Steam too. They posted an interesting story about developing the game. Link can be found in game's Steam page.

Maybe it was just too big to handle and they are cutting out unnecessary fillers.
Adventures don't get better when they are blown up with boring stuff.
Better keep it a little more condensed but do these parts right in art and gameplay.

I respect a game that doesn't waste my time with filler. It's great to have an experience that's been condensed and refined to a great little gem.

Plus it's easier to find time to complete a shorter game these days. I miss spending endless hours on rpgs, but honestly. Who can fit one in as an employed adult?

Add kids and you are happy to finish a level of Half Minute Hero...

I'm sure they know what they are doing but they made it clear that the scope is being reduced because a publisher backed out. It was not an artistic decision.

I am sure z
You are right, but let's hope it was for the better of the game and they left out the bad parts. Or at least nothing essential gets thrown out and the final game is long enough feel worth the purchase.
I'm an optimist.

Top 10 Forgotten Adventure Games (WatchMojo)

10. Snatcher
9. Orion Burger
8. Deja Vu
7. I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream
6. Beneath a Steel Sky
5. Loom
4. Commander Blood
3. The Neverhood
2. Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars
1. Sanitarium

Honorable Mentions:
Little Big Adventure
Phantasmagoria
The Dig
Total Distortion
Policenauts

I wouldn't describe some of those top ones are forgotten - overlooked or underrated, perhaps.

As a lifetime fan of the genre Commander Blood & Total Distortion are the only ones I've not heard of. Checking them out if I ever did see them I probably didn't care at the time as they were first person.

Snatcher, Deja Vu & I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream are all fairly well known to fans and are questionable.
Beneath a Steel Sky, Loom and The Shadow of the Templars have no place on that list whatsoever.

So I'm playing Technobabylon, really cool game, but I'm getting some tearing when the screen scrolls. Any way to fix that? Vsync is on in my driver settings.

Anyone else bit the bullet on Goosebumps: The Game? It's actually pretty decent, so far, and doesn't feel all that much like a movie tie-in. Worth a shot if you're a fan of the books.

go into settings in the folder directory, and change graphics driver to direct draw.

In Winsetup.exe? Nope, if I don't use any AA with direct draw it lessens it, but still around, but puts black bars on the top and bottom.

How hard is it to put a vsync check box though?

But Little Big Adventure is almost nothing like those other ones, it's not a PnC.

I need to restart that one again. Got to the desert just about to go into the temple, then stopped playing for a few months. Figure I might as well start fresh again, or give the sequel a spin. They've been waiting for some play for forever.

^interesting list... but yeah... broken sword? Its one of the more hyped series in the genre.. has 5 games, ports to mobile, is frequently mentioned in top lists. Nothing forgotten about that game. The rest of the games (not including the honorable mentions) are at least somewhat obscure.

How on earth is Broken Sword a forgotten game? It's one of the most classic ones there is, that had on remastered version out on PC and mobile recently - that sold very well, and then had a new entry in the series just last year, that was partially funded through a succesful kickstarter.

Obscurity? Broken Sword? No, just no. It's not forgotten, overlooked or underrated more then any other game in the genre.

God damn Life is Strange Episode 5..

Did you end up letting her die or choosing to kill off the town? I literally had my head in my hands too scared to make that decision but I figured that choosing to save her meant to deny her wish to save the others that she loved so much and shit man choosing to kill off a whole town to save your best friend.. What a crazy thing to have to think about. I was literally bawling at the ending. I had to hold back the tears since my nose was so clogged up because of the crying.

What a great game amongst it's flaws. People are talking about a S2 and who knows if that will be a thing but I'd like to see it if so. Damn that game was my flash of light in gaming lately and I just picked it up since I was bored one weekend lol

Also didn't know there was a weekly Thimbleweed podcast. Listening to the the latest episode and it is really relaxing and funny listening to these guys haha
