Point n Click Adventure GAF 2015 - Back with a vengeance

Just noticed Lost Horizon 2 on Steam, releasing October 1st.

Haven't even played the first one yet, despite owning it.

Awesome

and about bloody time too

Damn that seems so long...

I'll have to read the update, do they say why? This has been announced since 2012 I'd say.

Mostly from life happening it seems. One of their parents died and it hit them really hard, the other had their wife go through surgery to remove a serious tumor, having to find other work to pay bills because of this project taking so long. Just a lot of bad luck. You can read a newly published blog post here talking about some of it.

Oh wow, that's awful. Didn't know any of that.

Wait seriously? That's awesome. How'd you get in there?

I've been meaning to buy it since Wadjet pretty much always puts out quality, but I just haven't been able to carve out any time for it (and then I got deep into MGS V).

By being irritating :P Was through Facebook actually.

Currently in a VO course at the moment, so looking to do more in the future if I'm able to!

"Cool. This game (TechnoBabylon) is magnificent. I was only able to play for 20 minutes but I'm already all in. What a good month for P&C for me!!!"

Yep, it's a great game. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of their prior output (Resonance, Blackwell series, Primordia, and Gemini Rue are all must-plays for P&C fans, IMO.)

and here we go! The Journey Down Chapter 3 Kickstarter is up!

Man this has probably been one of my favorite adventures in the past years. I really hope this KS goes well. Gonna pledge the $11 tier for the game. Want to do something, even if it is the lowest game-included tier. Looks like we already have a ~$300 tier pledge guy here. That's good news!

Estimated September 2016 release date is given.

Just watched the KS video and learned a lot I didn't know about SkyGoblin. Really love the work these guys do!

TJD Kickstarter doing pretty well so far - I hope they make their goal! Played Chapter 2 a few months ago and really enjoyed it - the series deserves a proper finish. :)

TJD series are some of the best modern "Lucasarts-feel" adventures. First episode surprised me and the second was even better. Hope they get to that goal fast!

The Adventures of Fatman (2003 game) got released on Steam.

Will back the game tomorrow when I wake up (night shift as I type this)

Stretch goals should include porting/releasing the games on Consoles and handhelds like 3DS and Vita.

I'll never get why people are still mad over Broken Age, the end product is a fine PnC game. The whacko ass puzzles aren't even that big a deal once you figure them out.
And even then the voice acting and characters are really good to the point that I wouldn't fault one for using a guide to solve the puzzles if they just want to enjoy BA for the non gameplay stuff.

People are still mad over it?

The puzzles are good, better, more logical and actually easier then in many classics, like Grim Fandango, Gabriel Knight, etc.

I've finally played, and finished, Broken Age. It's been sitting on my Steam account since the release of act 1 (I was one of the backers) since I wanted to play the whole game at once, but later other games occupied me so the game had to wait for its turn. But not any more.

Overall, I liked it. It's beautiful with nice story and few interesting, but not too obtuse, puzzles. The only problem I have with the game is that the first act is more story-focused with very light puzzles, while the second act is puzzle-focused with very light story, which makes the ending kind of disappointing - after the great twist at the end of act 1 I expected something similar in the act 2. Unfortunately, the game did not deliver and the story was rather rushed (everything was explained in few exposition dialogues), with some plot holes (
why haven't Shay met his parents in person on the ship?
) and was pretty straightforward. Bummer.

Maybe I would look at the game differently (reading reviews at Steam I was shocked there were so many "not recommended" reviews there) if I played act 1 right after release, with really high expectations, and then wait for act 2 for almost a year. But as it is now, I don't regret backing this game. I had fun and my eyes had a real treat watching this beauty.

Don't buy Space Quest or Kings Quest on Steam. It's broken and only works on Win XP. Buy the GOG versions instead.

Doesn't Steam have the VGA SQ1 remake while the GOG collection is stuck with the ancient parser version?

I mean, it's lousy if the Steam version doesn't work out of the box but I'm almost positive you can just stuff it into ScummVM and call it a day.
